Great leaders make kindness a genuine act, not a strategic influence. Authentic kindness strengthens a leader's credibility. Research shows that leaders' acts of kindness: ✅️ improve the workplace atmosphere ✅️ contribute to overall team success ✅️ enhance well-being of the team ✅️ keep more people retained Here is how great leaders show kindness to make a positive impact: ➡️ Active Listening Truly listening to employees' concerns and ideas can make them feel valued and understood. ➡️ Expressing Gratitude Regularly acknowledging and appreciating employees' efforts can boost morale and motivation. ➡️ Providing Constructive Feedback Offering feedback that is both positive and constructive helps employees grow and feel supported. ➡️ Show Empathy Demonstrating empathy by understanding and sharing the feelings of others can strengthen relationships and foster a supportive work environment. ➡️ Encouraging Work-Life Balance Supporting employees in maintaining a healthy work-life balance can reduce stress and burnout. ➡️ Mentorship and Development Investing time in mentoring and developing employees' skills shows a commitment to their growth. ➡️ Acts of Service Small acts of service, such as helping with a task or providing resources, can demonstrate care and support. ➡️ Creating a Positive Work Environment Cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace culture can enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover. ➡️ Transparent Communication Being open and honest in communication builds trust and reduces uncertainty. ➡️ Celebrating Successes Recognizing and celebrating both individual and team achievements can boost morale and foster a sense of accomplishment. Reminder: having a positive impact is a choice that every leader can make in every moment. PS. Which of these acts do you think would be most impactful in your workplace? *** Credits: Simon Koerner ♻️ Repost this to help leaders in your network!

A great boss can change your entire career. Truth is, 90% of bosses limit your career potential. Here's why this matters... 📌 The reality of workplace culture: → 76% of employees feel more engaged with supportive managers → Your manager impacts mental health more than your doctor → Great leaders advocate for you in rooms you're not in ✅ Signs of a healthy leadership culture: (aka leaders are engaged in supporting YOUR growth) 1️⃣ They invest in YOUR growth → Support skill development → Create learning opportunities → Connect you with mentors → Champion your development 2️⃣ They celebrate YOUR path → Care about your career goals → Support cross-department moves → Put your growth before their needs → Celebrate your progress 3️⃣ They amplify YOUR voice → Advocate for opportunities → Share your achievements → Connect you with key people → Build your visibility 📌 Remember: Great managers aren't threatened by your growth. They're invested in it. Even if that means supporting your path elsewhere. Because the best leaders? They say your name in rooms of opportunity. *** 👋 Tag a leader who has done this for you before! Let them know how much it meant to you.

🚨 BREAKING: STATE OF THE DESIGN JOB MARKET 2024. We’re thrilled to release the #1 report into 2024's design job market 🔥, guest contributed by Chris Abad, which has been viewed over 120K+ people since last week. Here's our 5 biggest surprises and takeaways: 1. Growth is the fastest-growing role right now I didn't see this coming. I’ve always thought of growth roles as niche, and not one that was significantly expanding. I was wrong. I can also understand why. With the market starting to return, companies are increasingly leaning into growth. You can see this with the upward inflection in sales and marketing roles as well. It’s interesting though that growth roles are growing much faster than sales and marketing roles. This might mean an increasing focus on product-led growth, potentially driven by a need for capital efficiency—something investors and public markets are increasingly prioritizing. 2. User research is resurgent Another unexpected insight from this data is that user research is the second-fastest-growing role right now. I believe what’s happening is that the UXR function went through a huge overhiring phase (see the large bump in late 2022) and then a reckoning as the market tanked last year. Companies realized their UXR teams were not adding enough value, and thus those saw some of the most significant layoffs in the tech industry. Now that the market is returning, companies are starting to rehire these roles after realizing they went too far. I’ll note, though, that the absolute number of UXR people is relatively small compared with other roles. There are only around 14,000 active UXR roles in the U.S., according to the data, and about 200 are being hired each month. 3. Product management is doing fine The story the data tells me is that there was a hiring acceleration through 2022 and then a steady state (i.e. the number of PMs being hired and fired each month staying relatively even) over the past 1.5 years. That feels healthy to me. Numbers-wise, there are about 450,000 active PMs in the U.S. right now, and 2,500 to 4,500 are being hired each month. 4. Product owners are owning it Another surprising result is that product owners are the third-fastest-growing role in tech. And there are around 65,000 of them. 😮 If anyone has any insights on this role and its continued growth, please leave a comment. 5. Scrum masters are masters no more The only role that’s shrinking (i.e. more people being let go than hired each month) is the scrum master. Sorry, folks. I’m guessing this in part explains the growth in product owners—people who used to be called scrum masters are now called product owners. There are still about 40,000 active scrum masters in the U.S., so we’ll see if this trend continues.
