Bleeding Heart Square
Lydia Langstone was brought up in a prosperous London household, complete with servants and all the comforts that money could buy. She marries well, but then decides to leave her husband Marcus when he hits her one time too often. Lydia connects with her biological father, whom she has never met; takes a small room in the building in Bleeding Heart Square where he rents; finds a job working in a legal office; and goes about making a life for herself in a neighborhood that is often hostile to the gentry. Meanwhile, Rory Wentworth, who rents a room in the same building, is investigating the mysterious disappearance of his fiancé’s aunt, Philippa Penhow. Even though Fenella has broken off their engagement, Rory is determined to discover why her Aunt Philippa vanished without a trace -- and whether she was murdered by her lover, Serridge, who is now the landlord of the building. Full of great twists and turns, fabulous period detail and rich characters, Bleeding Heart Square will delight the readers of Anne Perry and other historical mystery fiction.
