Mark Millar takes some ingredients from vampire films Near Dark and The Lost Boys and adds just enough of his own ideas to make a new IP. If the vampires becoming superheroes thing seems really familiar you might have read Chip Zdarsky's The All-Nighter which did the same thing just a year before.

This is standard Millar fare: some gore, some "shocking" turns, and not a lot of fleshed out characters or plot.
