Nuphy Field75 Wireless Keyboard Review: Unique in Every Keystroke

Although still a relatively new contender in the world of keyboards, Nuphy sweeps the field with their latest and greatest keyboard that does more than a few things right beyond its unique, really cool design.

Nuphy Field75 is available for purchase on Nuphy’s website. Coming to Amazon at a later date.

Field 75 is, as its name suggests, a 75% keyboard that features an exploded layout and an absolutely beautiful, black, gray and green colorway. The keycaps are made from high-quality PBT plastic to boot, so not only are they very durable, but they show no signs of me ever using them, even after two months of owning the keyboard. They aren’t shine-through, but this doesn’t detract from how pretty they look, and the RGB is still visible enough in between them.

In terms of switches, Nuphy offers several options that should satisfy everyone, but our unit came with factory-lubed Fleeting Gold switches with 55 grams of actuation force and 3.3 mm of total travel distance. They are quite pleasant to use for both gaming and typing, and in combination with several layers of foam around the PCB, they produce a very specific, relatively quiet sound. It also helps that Nuphy once again brings its Ghostbar here, which combines silicone and polycarbonate to reduce that awful hollow sound of most space bars.

Unfortunately, the casing doesn’t match the quality of the keycaps, as it’s entirely made from relatively lower quality ABS plastic. While the build quality is not up to par with aluminum keyboards, it’s the design details that really elevate Field75 above most competitors. Nuphy says the details are inspired by the so-called diesel punk and not only do these look great but each actually has a practical purpose – from controlling the RGB, to switching connectivity modes and more. Even the bottom of the keyboard has been given some love, so it’s not just a blank piece of plastic.

As for performance, the keyboard does an admirable job in both 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth connections. There’s no talk of input lag or connection issues, so you can take it for a spin in everything but the most competitive games, where wired and its 1000 Hz polling rate will probably be your best friend. Field75 can keep going for around 30 hours with the lights turned on, and around triple that if you turn them off which is quite reliable and in line with most wireless keyboards with this form factor.

Lastly, the keyboard can be customized through Nuphy Field Console which, while still in beta, provides most of what you’d expect – creating profiles, customizing the lighting with more precision and creating macro combinations. Summary
After a few understated releases, the Field75 is the one that truly plants Nuphy's flag on the keyboard landscape. Sure, it has its quirks, but they're mere shadows when set against its stellar performance and undeniably cool aesthetics that will have every gamer proudly display it on their desk.
