Adventure beckons you to the Outer Ring in Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.2, Tour De Inferno. The second major update for Hoyoverse’s hit action gacha title was just detailed in a new Special Program which went over the new story contents of 1.2, the new characters we can recruit during the update, what events we’ll have to look forward to, and, of course, the release of a free redemption code for 300 Polychromes and a bunch of free upgrade materials.
Before we dive into the contents of the Version 1.2 livestream, let’s first reveal the exclusive redemption code Hoyoverse gave out during it. Redeeming this code will net you 300 Polychromes, 30,000 Dennies, 2 Senior Investigator Logs and 3 W-Engine Energy Modules. This time, the code in question is TOURDEINFERNO and you have until the 14th of September to redeem it so act fast.
Burnice Agent Story
Version 1.2 of Zenless Zone Zero will focus on our adventure to the Outer Ring, a treacherous stretch of barren land outside of the main city of New Eridu where gangs rule and Etherals roam free. Oil is currency in the Outer Ring and it’s where old-world industrial sites were built to harvest it, with modern-day dwellers in the Outer Ring preferring to use oil over the standard Etheric Matter used in New Eridu.
One of these gangs is the Sons of Calydon, a notorious biker gang that owns and runs a trusted delivery service across the sands of the Outer Ring. The Version 1.2 main quest will have you accompany Billy of the Cunning Hares to visit the Sons in the arid deserts where you will become embroiled in gang politics as you take part in a famous bike race, the Tour De Inferno. You’ll even get to ride one of the Son’s bikes in a new mini-game.
This update will also add a new Agent Story. Burnice White is one of 1.2’s new playable units and her Agent Story, “A Stroke of Luck”, will have you accompany her on an adventure into the depths of the Outer Ring where a surprise awaits.
Caesar King, Leader of the Sons
Version 1.2 adds two new playable 5-stars from the Sons of Calydon faction. The first is Caesar King, the current leader of the Sons. She is our first S-Rank Defence Agent and also our first Physical Defence Agent. Caesar’s most interesting trait is that she can block and parry attacks using her shield, allowing her to trigger Perfect Blocks and Defensive Assist without needing to switch off of the field. She can provide a shield which greatly increases the Interruption Resistance of the entire team while debuffing enemies hit after she triggers a Perfect Block.
The second Sons of Calydon member joining the roster in 1.2 is Burnice White, a talented drink smith and pyromaniac who wields two hand-flamethrowers as her weapon of choice. As an S-Rank Fire Anomaly unit, Burnice excels at rapidly applying Fire Anomaly Buildup to Burn her opponents, dealing massive damage over time. Additionally, once Burnice earns enough Heat, she enters the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state, triggering Afterburn as an extra instance of Fire DMG whenever a teammate’s attack hits an enemy.
Of course, there’s also a new Bangboo to represent and aid members of the Sons of Calydon. Red Moccus is a new S-Rank Bangboo dressed in red leather who attacks their opponents with their small, but deadly, bike. They will provide the team will special buffs if you are running two or more Sons members in your team comp.

In phase one of Version 1.2, Proxies will be able to pull Caeser King, alongside her signature W-Engine, Tusks of Fury (Defence).
Meanwhile, in phase 2, Burnice and her signature W-Engine, Flamemaker Shaker (Anomaly), will be on rate-up until the end of Version 1.2.

The fun doesn’t stop there, though, as Version 1.2 of Zenless Zone Zero will also feature several exciting events and optimisations. Firstly, the main event of this version is the Overlord’s Feast event where you will help man the Blazewoo Diner in the Outer Ring. You will prepare food for customers while also chatting away with them to learn more about this arid landscape and its inhabitants. The main reward from this event is a free copy of Lucy, an A-Rank Fire Support Agent from the Sons of Calydon.
Other events coming in Version 1.2 include the Bizarre Brigade event where a new rogue-lite mini-game will be added to the God Finger Arcade, Roaming the Ether which is a new Exploration Commission-based event, Ride for You which is a puzzle-style event which will take place at Howl’s Newsstand, and the 141 Friendship Fair where you will give Sjal special items to obtain exclusive rewards. All of these events will award plentiful amounts of Polychrome. There will also be new Combat Commissions to undertake, a suite of new Notorious Hunt bosses to battle, and a login campaign for 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.

That’s not all though as 1.2 will also feature a new permanent game mode, the Investigator Training Course. In this mode, you will play the role of a Hollow Investigator, sending teams out on specific missions while learning practical and useful information on the nature of Hollows. There will be four courses available, each of which is suited to a different playable faction, and completing the Tactical Course will let you send your Agents out on Assignment-like activities to earn EXP and rewards.
Alongside the new game mode, several optimisations are also coming to ZZZ in 1.2. Firstly, two new Drive Disc sets – Chaos Jazz, which improves Anomaly, Fire and Electric DMG, and Proto Punk, which improves shield strength and buffs the team on a Perfect Block or Defensive Assist – will be available to earn. Additionally, a new TV-free segment of Hollow Zero’s Withering Gardens will be available, letting Proxies earn weekly points without having to go through the TV sections.
Lastly, there is a suite of smaller, but meaningful, optimisations coming. Like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero will receive a Back-Up Battery Charge feature in 1.2, allowing you to continue building up Battery Charge even once you hit the maximum of 240 points. They have also introduced preset squads, improved the fluidity of the TV animations, and given you the ability to freely switch between Belle and Wise as playable characters.
