Square Enix announced they are delaying the release of the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth remaster until the end of the year.

The Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth remaster was intended to release alongside the new Valkyrie Elysium on September 29th of this year. Players would be able to purchase a Deluxe Package in which they would get both games upon the release of Valkyrie Elysium. However, Square Enix announced earlier this week on Twitter that this would no longer be the case.

“As we celebrate the upcoming launch of Valkyrie Elysium, we unfortunately need a bit more time for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth to improve the quality of the title and have decided to move the release date to December 22, 2022.”

Square Enix reassured players in their Twitter post that anyone who purchased the Deluxe Edition of Valkyrie Elysium would also get their copy of the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth remaster automatically in December.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth follows the story of the titular valkyrie, Lenneth. She is sent on a mission by the gods of Asgard to collect the souls of fallen heroes in preparation for the impending Ragnarok. Throughout the game, the player learns more about Lenneth and her memories of her human past.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth originally released in Japan on December 22, 1999 for PlayStation 1. The first rerelease of the game was on PSP in 2006. These localized English rereleases featured several changes including full motion video for the main story events. These replaced the anime cut scenes of the original. The English releases also included a cleaned up script and the addition of more lines for the FMV cut scenes.

The second rerelease in 2018 was on mobile and iOS. This included many quality of life changes such as enhanced graphics and character portraits, updated text and UI elements, ability to skip cutscenes, and even the ability to fully automate battles.

Valkyrie Elysium will release of September 29, 2022, and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will now release on December 22, 2022.
