Powered by the Apocalypse
One thing to consider is how familiar you are with Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA). PbtA is a versatile TTRPG framework, but it can be a commitment to dedicate time to learning a new system.
PbtA stands nowadays as a foundation for thousands of different TTRPGs, so there is a chance you might have played a TTRPG based on the system before. So, Perfect Draw is built using a highly versatile system, but what is in the book?
Perfect Draw
The book for Perfect Draw should have everything you need to play card games at the TTRPG table.
The book includes general rules of play that all players should read over once before beginning the game this includes general character abilities, risks you can take during play, how gaining character baggage works, and sometimes can be beneficial to duels in play.
One of the big things about Perfect Draw is their one card game that assumes correctly, that there is quite a bit of fun in card creation. Perfect Draw met a stretch goal as well, creating its online card creator tool.
Perfect Draw features a host of “Staples” cards that inherently move the game along, these “Staples” provide consistency when players can come up with crazy combos.
Demo
You can now try Perfect Draw yourself thanks to the demo kit available on Perfect Draw’s itch.io page. This demo can be played by up to three players and one other who will act as the judge or facilitator of the game session.
This demo allows players to get into the action and play the Perfect Draw card game in the Rising Star Tournament. The demo gives you access to three character archetypes out of the ten in the Perfect Draw book. These character archetypes are the resolved, the prodigy, and the glowing.
