As part of the Last of Us Day celebrations, HBO released a full-length look at the highly anticipated Last of Us TV show.
On September 26th, HBO dropped a simple, yet cryptic tweet. All it contained was the hashtag #TLOUDay and a short video of the HBO logo. Just a few hours later, HBO dropped what would be the first full-length trailer for the highly anticipated Last of Us TV show.
The new trailer gives us a glimpse into what the world of the HBO series will look like. From crumbling buildings to snowy landscapes, the show appears to hold true to the environments and atmosphere of the original game. Besides Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the trailer also features characters such as Marlene, Sarah, Riley, and Bill. We even get our first extended glimpse at the game’s iconic enemy–the clicker.

According to HBO, “The series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”
The first official glimpses of the new Last of Us TV show came earlier this year in a spot alongside several other HBO TV shows. Before that, photos of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey on set were also circulating the web.
At this point, no precise release date has been announced. However, audiences can expect the TV show to air in 2023 according to this trailer.
