The First Doom Level Is Now Playable in Doom Eternal

This is the level that will transport you back into the '90s. If you ever wanted to play the most iconic Doom level in Doom Eternal, you can now do so. Players are going to have to own the PC version to do so, but it's definitely a nice blend of familiarity and newness.

The First Doom Level Is Now Playable In Doom Eternal

The most iconic level from the original Doom is finally playable in Doom Eternal. The level is designed to be more of a classic experience where the player must explore and find valuable items. It also includes a pistol that never was officially released.

Throughout the map, there are certain familiar locations to the original game, but there are also some new changes too. There will be newly used enemies that the player will encounter and the outside area has also been slightly changed too.

On August 8, Doom Eternal allowed modders to create their own level and content. There are some custom levels that are available for playing purposes and certain mods that can change the base game.

These mods are currently only playable for the PC version of Doom Eternal. Id Software has not stated whether they want to allow console players to experience PC mods like Fallout 4.

This is not the first time that Doom Eternal has a remade version of a classic level from the old games. There was a remake of Doom II’s MAP07: Dead Simple that was released recently too.

According to former Doom creative director John Romero, E1M1: Hangar was the final level that was made for the original Doom. Romero intentionally made this level as his last level because he would then understand how to make the level that defines the first-person shooter genre.

“The last level should be your best level, and so basically what I did with this game,” Romero said.

Doom Eternal was originally released on March 20, 2020. Id Software is currently working on a new Doom project called Doom: The Dark Ages.
