Star Wars: The Bad Batch Is Returning for Season 2

It is confirmed: there will be a season 2 of The Bad Batch. Fans will likely have to wait until the same time in 2022 of course, but they should be pleased to see Clone Force 99 return. The series has been popular amongst fans during its first 16-episode run.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Is Returning for Season 2

Disney has confirmed today that The Batch Batch will be getting a season 2 next year. This comes with the build-up to the end of season 1, which will consist of a two-part finale starting tomorrow (6th August). Serving as a spin-off and sequel to The Clone Wars, the animated Star Wars series follows a squad of defective clones with ‘desirable’ characteristics after the fall of the Republic as the Empire seizes control.

The first season began in May earlier this year on Disney+ with a 90-minute special, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Many have enjoyed how it continued the best aspects of The Clone Wars while developing the Star Wars mythology. Therefore it’s no surprise that a second season is on the way.

Star Wars has seen great success on Disney+. With The Mandalorian, the final season of The Clone Wars and now The Bad Batch; plus The Book of Boba Fett is coming soon.

What Could Happen?

Time will only tell about the situation that The Bad Batch find themselves in at the start of season 2. Throughout the past fourteen episodes, they have been on the run from bounty hunters and the Empire alike. Not to mention their former brother-in-arms Crosshair, whose inhibitor chip prevented him from refusing the Empire’s orders. In the last episode, team leader Hunter was captured as the rest of the team barely escaped. With the growing threat of the Imperials, the galaxy is not a safe place for a renegade clone squad.

Furthermore, with the news that the ending is so sad that it made the composer cry, things might not be all good as we move into season 2. The announcement of another season does give some hope that the whole team might not die, especially when considering the potential importance of a character like Omega.
