An official English release date was confirmed for the upcoming Pokémon 151 Trading Card Set, a special set celebrating the first Generation of Pokémon. In a post on the official Pokémon website, it was revealed that the special Pokémon 151 TCG set will be getting an English release later this year. As per the website, the current release date for the planned expansion is September 22nd 2023. This means that Pokémon 151 will release following the next mainline Pokémon Scarlet and Violet TCG set, Obsidian Flames, which releases on August 11th.

As a special set in the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon 151 is more similar to Crown Zenith or Shining Fates than the recently released Paldea Evolved. For Pokémon 151, in particular, it’s a loving homage to the first Generation of Pokémon with new card art for every Kanto Pokémon from Bulbasaur all the way up to Mew-Two.

As a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet set, Pokémon 151 will feature several features present in the new series. All cards will have the sleek new silver borders present in the recent SV sets to match the aesthetic of the Japanese cards. Additionally, the set will feature powerful EX cards based on iconic Pokémon like Charizard, Venasaur, Blastoise and Mew: we’ll even see the return of the full Alakazam line, including Kadabra, after a long 20-year absence. Perhaps most exciting of all is that Pokémon 151 will launch with a large roster of Alternative Art cards – similar to the Galarian Gallery line from Crown Zenith – giving creative full art variations of many beloved Pokémon and Pokémon lines.

Products for Pokémon 151 include an Elite Trainer Box containing Pokémon 151 packs, sleeves, dice and more: there will also be an exclusive Pokémon Centre ETB available from the Pokémon  Centre website. Other products include a special 151 Poster Collection, Binder Collection, Zapdos and Alakazam EX Boxes and mini-tins depicting the 10 type symbols. Pokémon 151 will also have an Ultra Premium Collection box based on Mew, similar to the ones previously released for Charizard and Arceus.
