Shantae and the Seven Sirens Delayed to Spring 2020

Those looking forward to the newest Shantae's 2019 release date will be disappointed. WayForward has announced that development on Shantae and the Seven Sirens is almost finished, but will delay release until Spring of 2020. At least it's not too much longer!

Shantae and the Seven Sirens Delayed to Spring 2020

When first announced, WayForward anticipated a 2019 release for their newest Shantae title, Shantae and the Seven Sirens. December rolled by quickly with no new info about a release date, which led to many to assume the obvious. Developer WayForward has announced today via tweet that Shantae and the Seven Sirens has been delayed until Spring of 2020, as development time took a bit longer than expected.

While the gaming world is used to delays, Shantae and the Seven Sirens won’t be long of a wait. With an originally ambiguous “2019” release date, “Spring 2020” implies somewhere between March and May, meaning fans will only have to wait another 3 to 5 months after already waiting a whole 9 months. Most of the responses to the above tweet have been supportive and reasonable.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens was originally announced back on March 25th of this year as simply “Shantae 5.” It follows Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, released in December of 2016, which released to generally positive fanfare. With help from Studio Trigger, responsible for anime series such as Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, Seven Sirens aims to be the most content-filled entry yet, including animated cutscenes and a deck-based combat system.
