Drip marketing for Version 2.6 of Honkai: Star Rail has begun rolling out following the announcement of the Version 2.5 Special Program, which will showcase the next major patch coming to the hit gacha title. It seems that 2.5 will mark a return to Penacony after our brief stint in the Xianzhou Luofu as our first new playable 5-star is Rappa, a plucky ninja girl.
The drip marketing image for Rappa reveals her as our first Imaginary Erudition character, the AoE Class of Honkai: Star Rail. With a design that mixes old traditional ninja iconography and modern-day fashion, Rappa has a very unique style, even compared to the more contemporary characters from Penacony. In one hand, Rappa wields a massive shuriken-like weapon while a can of spray paint sits on her hip.
“A peculiar girl who appears in Penacony like a flashbang at the darkest hour of night, identifying herself as a ninja and attributing everything in the world to “ninjutsu.”
Upholding the recitation of ninja mantra, creating Dazzling Ninja Seals, and mastering ninja techniques, the Way of the Ninja involves rap, graffiti, and comics. Through rigorous self-discipline, she roams the stars, upholding justice and righteousness.
As a member of the Galaxy Rangers, she relentlessly pursues the villain known as Evil Ninja Osaru, chasing them to the very edge of the Cosmos.”

Rappa the Ninja
While Rappa hasn’t been mentioned in the lore so far, her character bio does reveal a few important things, namely that she pops up in Penacony. Version 2.4 and 2.5 of Star Rail both take place on the Luofu during the Wardance Festival, so 2.6 looks like a return to the Land of Dreams. Secondly, Rappa may be a ninja but she’s more than just shadows and stealth: her ninja way is said to be inspired by rap, graffiti, and comic books. She’s also, interestingly, a Galaxy Ranger like Boothill.
If the term has caught you off guard, drip marketing refers to the release of promotional material for a gacha game character before their official kit reveal. Hoyoverse games like Star Rail or Genshin Impact tend to unveil their full drip marketing a full version early to give players time to plan their saving plans.
Rappa will become available to pull in Version 2.6 of Honkai: Star Rail which is set to launch in late October. Meanwhile, Version 2.5 releases on the 11th of September.
