New Pokémon TCG Set, Twilight Masquerade, Officially Announced

The next core set in the Scarlet and Violet era of the Pokémon TCG has just been officially confirmed as Twilight Masquerade. The announcement comes alongside a new video showcasing the main star of Twilight Masquerade, Ogrepon, as well as an official release date for the set.

According to the official Twilight Masquerade description on the Pokémon Centre website, Twilight Masquerade will primarily be focusing on the Pokémon and people of the Kitakami region. This was the first new area added to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with The Teal Part, the first bit of DLC for the game, and it’s based heavily on historic Japanese culture. This means we’ll likely see cards based on characters like Kieran, Carmine, Birar, and Perrin, important characters in The Teal Mask story.

This description also mentions several headlining ex and Tera Pokémon in Twilight Masquerade. Ogrepon and its many masks are the main stars of this expansion, as there will be a different Ogrepon ex for each of the Legendary’s four masks. Additionally, Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Sinistea (who also feature on the pack art) are two popular Kitakami-exclusive Pokémon who will also be getting ex-cards. As for Tera Pokémon, Greninja, Magcargo, and Dragapult have been confirmed as three Tera Pokémon in Twilight Masquerade.

As of right now, there are four official products which can be preordered on the Pokemon Centre website (for US and UK residents only). The Twilight Masquerade ETB comes emblazoned with Teal Mask Ogrepon and will have two additional Twilight Masquerade packs if you buy the exclusive version from the Pokemon Centre. Other products include the Twilight Masquerade Booster Bundle, which comes with 6 packs, and the Booster Box, which comes with 36.

The announcement comes just a few short weeks before the official release date of the next major set in the Pokémon TCG, Temporal Forces, which launches on March 22nd 2024. This leaves a narrow two-month gap between large releases, which may explain the Twilight Masquerade’s slightly smaller card list of 160 cards.

Last but not least, according to the official Twilight Masquerade page, we should expect Pokemon TCG: Scarlet and Violet – Twilight Masquerade to launch on May 24th 2024 barring any major delays.
