Mobile Game Developer Supercell Cancels Auto Chess Battler Clash MiniSupercell, the development team behind wildly popular mobile strategy games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, is discontinuing Clash Mini, a spin-off of the series.

In a new statement, the Finland-based mobile game developer says that they will be ending the development of Clash Mini, an auto chess battler that launched in November 2021.

According to Supercell, even after numerous updates, they could not raise Clash Mini up to their standards of quality and thus, they will be discontinuing it.

Ever since the launch of Clash Mini into its Beta, we have strived for one simple thing: to make the best game we could. Our dream is to create great games that as many people as possible play for years and that are remembered forever. Today, we made the decision to end the development of Clash Mini, which was a good game but not the game that would ultimately fulfill our dream.

However, in a new thread on the social media platform X, the official Clash Mini account says that it will be preserving the experience of Clash Mini – albeit in a different way.

Supercell says that the essence of Clash Mini, which lets gamers place characters with special abilities on a board and have them battle each other automatically, will live on through Clash Royale, though no specific details were given.

According to the game developer, bringing Clash Mini to Clash Royale – one of the company’s flagship mobile products that launched in 2016 and has since gathered millions of users – would unlock the game’s true potential.

Data from German data-aggregating company Statista indicates that in 2023, Clash Mini was Supercell’s least downloaded game.

In 2021, German eSports giant ESL officially added Clash Royale and Clash of Clans to its mobile open.
