Magic: The Gathering Adds Fallout, Assassin’s Creed to Expanding Universe

Wizards of the Coast's popular Magic: the Gathering trading card game is adding the powers of the Assassin's Creed and Fallout universes to its burgeoning suite of crossover products, which include other prominent video game franchises such as Street Fighter and Fortnite.

Magic: The Gathering Adds Fallout, Assassin’s Creed to Expanding UniverseTabletop gaming giant Wizards of the Coast, known for the popular trading card game Magic: the Gathering (MTG) and classic tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, is collaborating with marquee game publishers to bring over the Assassin’s Creed and Fallout franchises to MTG’s ever-expanding suite of intellectual properties.

Having already boldly ventured into the worlds of Doctor Who, Warhammer 40k, and The Lord of the Rings as a part of its Universes Beyond crossover series, Wizards is now broadening its reach to the Assassin’s Creed and Fallout franchises, transferring over the powers of beloved characters onto playable Magic: the Gathering trading cards.

Early leaks show that gamers can now utilize the powers of Ezio Auditore da Firenze – the main character of the Assassin’s Creed 2 trio of games – as well as Altair Ibn-La’Ahad, the protagonist of the original Assassin’s Creed which launched in 2007. From the Fallout franchise, beloved characters such as Dogmeat, the pet of Fallout 4’s protagonist, Fallout 76’s infamous Mothman, and Fallout: New Vegas’ main antagonist, Caesar, will be turned into cards as well.

Not only will main and side characters be featured as cards, key items within each of the series – such as the reality-warping Animus and the iconic hidden assassin’s blade from Assassin’s Creed and the Nuka-Cola vending machine from Fallout – will be included in all of their flavor too. Other items include the fall-breaking haystack used by assassins to perform leaps of faith and Fallout’s T-45 power armor.

According to Wizards, the Fallout series is slated to launch on March 8th while the Assassin’s Creed cards will be released on July 5th. Last year, Wizards of the Coast had great success journeying into the world of video games as Baldur’s Gate 3, which is a part of the Dungeon’s & Dragons franchise, won the Game of the Year award.
