Krafton Acquires Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IP

Last month, Krafton acquired both Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IP from Xbox. This acquisition means that the studio will no longer be shut down as was previously announced. The move comes after fans of the game were mourning the studio’s shutdown since it was announced last May.

Krafton Acquires Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IPRecently, several studios have been closed for different reasons, and one of them was Tango Gameworks. Fortunately for the fans of the studio, Krafton has acquired it and Hi-Fi Rush IP. Krafton’s, PUBG’s publisher, acquisition of the two from Xbox means that the studio will not shut down. The news took place only a few months after Microsoft announced the closure of several Bethesda studios. One of these studios was Tango Gameworks.

In addition, Krafton has published a press release announcing how it acquired both Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IP. The company described the move as “a exciting moment in the company’s global expansion.” Moreover, many see this acquisition as a wise one because of how successful Hi-Fi Rush has been since its release. The game received high praise from critics and gamers alike. From the positive Steam reviews to the several awards the game received, Hi-Fi Rush is an addition to any company.

What Does Krafton’s Acquisition of Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IP Mean

Now fans might wonder what does this acquisition means for the future. In their press release, Krafton explained that the company “intends to support the Tango Gameworks team to continue its commitment to innovation and delivering fresh and exciting experiences for fans. There will be no impact on the existing game catalog of The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and the original Hi-Fi RUSH game.” To Krafton, this acquisition is a “strategic move.” It is one that marks the company’s “first significant investment in the Japanese video game market.”

Therefore, Tango Gameworks’ team can now “continue developing the Hi-Fi RUSH IP and explore future projects.” With Krafton acquiring Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush IP, several people are wondering about the fate of other studios and games. This could start a movement of companies saving closed studios and canceled games. Such as, Life by You, which was also canceled. Now, the Japanese Studio got a second chance to continue its successful projects and hopefully prove to the industry how studios deserve to survive.
