The Version 1.2 livestream for Honkai: Star Rail just concluded, giving us our first real look at several new aspects coming to the popular gacha game in a few weeks. In this Version update titled Even Immortality Ends, Trailblazers can look forward to getting their hands on two of the most highly anticipated characters – the Stellaron Hunters, Blade and Kafka – as well as a conclusion to the Xianzhou Luofu storyline, several new events, updates to endgame content and even some more free premium Star Rail Passes thrown in for good measure. There’s a lot to go over in Version 1.2.

To begin properly, let’s discuss what new characters are becoming playable in Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.2. First up is Blade the stoic Stellaron Hunter. As our first Wind Destruction character, Blade has an interesting kit and playstyle built around consuming his own HP to increase his attack. By using his Skill, you’ll take away a set amount of his HP, boosting his damage and transforming his Normal Attack into an Enhanced Normal Attack which deals AoE damage (as opposed to single target damage).
Secondly, we have another highly requested, highly sought character – in fact, she may be the most sought-after – in Kafka. She’s been an important part of the main storyline so far, capturing the hearts of many Trailblazers along the way, and in Version 1.2 of Honkai: Star Rail she’s going to be playable. In combat, Kafka is a Lightning Nihility character focused on debuffs. For example, a lot of her Skills deal Shock damage and deal additional instances of damage over time whenever she triggers a source of DoT.
Belobog Fighter, Luka
The Stellaron Hunters aren’t the only new characters joining the game. We’re also getting a new 4-Star character from Belobog by the name of Luka. As a fighter in the Underground’s Fight Club, Luka is a popular member of Belobog society, taking the ring by storm thanks to his metal arm. Like Kafka, Luka follows the Nihility Path and he deals Physical damage. The main thing setting Luka apart is his ability to inflict Bleed easily and gather stacks to enhance his Normal Attacks.
Let’s close this section by discussing what Character Warp Banners are going to be active during HSR 1.2. During Phase 1 of 1.2, Blade will be available as the featured 5-Star unit alongside Arlan (Destruction), Sushang (The Hunt) and Natasha (Abundance). Then, in phase 2, Kafka will take centre stage along with featured 4-Stars Luka (Nihility), Sampo (Nihility) and Serval (Erudition).

The most important thing coming in Version 1.2 is a continuation of the main Trailblaze Mission, likely leading to the conclusion of the Xianzhou Luofu storyline. In conjunction with this, there are two new areas of the Luofu – the Alchemy Commission and the Scalegorge Waterscape. Both areas feature unique environments and a bunch of puzzles which award plenty of Stellar Jade
Additionally, new enemy types are coming in 1.2, including a new bruiser-type known as the Malefic Ape, the magic-using Ascended and even the swordsman prodigy, Yanqing. The most important new enemy is a new Echo of War boss called Fantilia the Undying, a massive celestial woman with the powers of both Destruction and Abundance. She has 3 phases, all with their mechanics centred on special flowers Fantilia can conjure. Kafka, Blade and Luka all need Fantilia’s Echo of War materials.
Stars in Her Hands
To close, let’s discuss what kind of events are coming in Honkai Star Rail 1.2. The main event of this version is Tales of the Fanatic, where you help a Xianzhou storyteller interested in the Nameless and their tales across the galaxy. Other events include a treasure-hunting event in Belobog where you can earn a new aesthetic for your chatbox (which affects your chatboxes between characters and other Trailblazers), and a mechanical puzzle event. Finally, Kafka, Blade and Yukong will all receive new Companion Missions.
Perhaps the most important updates are two to the Forgotten Hall and the Simulated Universe, respectively. In the former, players can grab themselves a free copy of the new 4-Star Imaginary unit, Yukong, by clearing stage 1 of the Xianzhou Luofu Hall of Memory. Additionally, World 7 will be added to the Simulated Universe, along with two new Planar Ornament sets for players to try and experiment with: you’ll also earn another copy of Herta by beating World 7 for the first time.
