Genshin Impact 4.6 Livestream Overview: Arlecchino, New Fontaine Area, Free 4-Star

Genshin Impact's Version 4.6 update is looking really stacked based on the recently released 4.6 Special Program. Not only Arlecchino, a highly anticipated character, becoming playable this version, but 4.6 will also bring a new area expansion to Fontaine, the ability to earn a free 4-star Inazuma character, plenty of cool events, and, of course, free Primogems.

Genshin Impact 4.6 Livestream Overview: Arlecchino, New Fontaine Area, Free 4-Star

As the fabulous (but admittedly filler) Version 4.5 update for Genshin Impact begins winding down, we turn our eyes to the future with the Genshin Impact Version 4.6 Special Program, which aired earlier today and gave all Travelers a better look at what to expect from the next big version update. Not only will 4.6 bring a highly anticipated new 5-star as a playable unit but it will also add another explorable area to the land of Fontaine, two new lore-heavy Story Quests, the opportunity to grab a free Inazuman 4-star, and much more, including up to 300 free Primogems.

Before we go any further, though, let’s begin, as always, by going over the three redemption codes that were given out during the livestream. Entering all three of these codes in theGenshin Impact redemption centre will net you 300 bonus Primogems. Act fast, however, as these codes will only remain valid for 24 hours:

Arlecchino, The Knave

Arlecchino, The Knave

The main attraction in 4.6 is undoubtedly Arlecchino, the newest 5-star Polearm character and a fan favourite Fatui since her initial appearance all those years ago. Not only will she feature heavily in this update’s main story, but she’ll also be a new playable character during the first phase of 4.6. As Father of the House of the Hearth, Arlecchino is a strict and intimidating member of the Fatui under the title of The Knave. Interestingly, it also appears that she’s not of this world, in some way shape or form.

As we just mentioned, Arlecchino is a 5-star Pyro Polearm and a main damage dealer with some of the best animations in the entire game. Her main gameplay gimmick is that her Elemental Skill will apply the Blood-Debt Derrective debuff to nearby enemies. If you then use her Normal or Charged Attacks, she will absorb all Blood-Debts, spawning a Bond of Life similar to the Fontaine Blacksmith weapons, which absorb all incoming healing. While she has a Bond of Life, her Normal Attacks will gain bonus damage and Pyro infusion.

Arlecchino will be available during phase 1 of Genshin Impact Version 4.6 as a rate-up 5-star on her Limited Character Banner, The Hearth’s Ashen Shadow. Alongside her, Lyney, another 5-star House of the Hearth member, will also be on rate-up. Then, in phase 2, they will be replaced by two rerunning characters, the ever-hostile and smug Wanderer and the head of Bubu Pharmacy Baizhu

Additionally, while Arlecchino is on rate-up during phase 1 of 4.6, her signature weapon, Crimson Moon Semblance, will also be available on the Weapon Event Wish. Not only will this weapon provide Arlecchino with the best stats and appropriate abilities, but, for the first time in Genshin Impact, it will also slightly change her animations, transforming the Polearm into a bloody spear whenever Arlecchino attacks.

Alongside Arlecchino, Genshin Impact 4.6’s most impactful addition is a new (and likely final) Fontaine area expansion. The fallen, sunken Kingdom of Rumeria borders Sumeru and Fontaine and will be the playground of Arlecchino’s Story Quest. Once ruled by King Remus, the majority of Rumeria now lies under Fontaine’s waves, waiting for Travelers to come and explore in search of chests, quests, and likely the last remaining Hydroculi. Players who have beaten Chapter 3 of the Fontaine Archon Quest will automatically have a Teleport Point within the new area added to their map.

It is within Rumeria’s borders that Arlecchino will show up for a second time in Version 4.6, this time as a new Weekly Boss. In this form, Arlecchino embodies The Knave as a terrifying, bloody force of nature. In this fight, Arlecchino’s powers are taken to their absolute limit, turning the Blood-Debt and Bond of Life mechanics back on you as she flies in the sky, raining down destruction from on high. If you want to fight The Knave as soon as possible, you can quickly challenge her from the Traveler’s Handbook as soon as 4.6 launches.

Furthermore, speaking of Story Quests, Cyno will receive the second part of his Story Quest in 4.6 which promises to delve deeper into his past and the lore of his divine powers. It appears that this quest will also introduce a new character, Sethos, who seems to be working alongside or hunting down Cyno.

Next, let’s go over the new events coming in Version 4.6. The biggest event is the Iridescent Arataki Rockin’ For Life Tour De Force of Awesomeness, a music-themed event similar to events we’ve seen in the past. Not only will you get a new instrument, a fabulous trumpet, but all players can also obtain one free copy of Gorou by completing various activities.

Alongside Inazuma’s rock and roll event, 4.6 will also feature the return of the beloved Windtrace co-op event which will also have new mechanics, a combat challenge where you face off against various World Bosses with different debuffs and effects, and the Vibro-Crystal event from several updates past.

Lastly, several system optimisations are coming in 4.6. A bunch of new Avatar icons will be added based on quests you’ve previously completed and Treasure Compasses will now add a Treasure Chest icon on the map for easier treasure hunting. Also, the Serenitea Pot will be receiving a small update which allows you to instantly purchase batches of items without needing to go through too many complicated menus or tabs.
