The Special Program for Genshin Impact’s upcoming version update, Version 4.5, just wrapped, giving curious Travelers a glimpse at what’s coming to the game in only a few weeks. Coming off the heels of this year’s Lantern Rite, one of the biggest celebrations in Genshin, Version 4.5 is set to be a much quieter update with only a few major things to focus on. However, even then, there’s still an exciting new character to discuss, a brand new type of Event Wish Banner coming, and several rewards boasting bountiful rewards.
First and foremost, though, let’s quickly go over the three redemption codes that were given out during the 4.5 Special Program. By redeeming all 3 codes, you’ll earn yourself 300 easy Primogems as well as several other goods. However, act fast because these codes will expire 24 hours after the start of the livestream.

Blunt and Beautiful Chiori
Only one new playable character will be arriving on Fontaine’s shores during Version 4.5 and that character is the graceful and dazzling Chiori. Chiori first appeared in Version 4.3 and, as the manager of the world-famous fashion brand Chiori Boutique, she can appear quite cold and calculated. However, as an Inazuman who managed to make it big in the outside world, there is no doubt that Chiori is a driven and ambitious individual.
In gameplay, Chiro is a 5-star Geo Sword unit with some fabulously flashy attacks in her Normal Attack as she fillets opponents with dual swords. Meanwhile, her most important ability is her Elemental Skill which causes her to dash forward and perform a devastating blade attack, infusing her weapons with Geo and summoning a Geo puppet named Tamoto in the process to attack alongside her. Several of Chiori’s talents will enhance her Skill, allowing her to instantly switch to the next character in the roster when using it or summon an additional Tamoto if her Skill is used within range of Geo Constructs like Zhongli’s pillars or Albedo’s flower.

Next, if you want to add someone as prodigious as Chiori to your roster, we must consult the Genshin Impact Version 4.5 Event Wishes. During phase 1, Chiori will be available alongside the glorious Arataki Itto. At the same time, a new 5-star Sword, the Uraku Misugiri, will be available on the Weapon Event Wish, which is Chiori’s signature weapon that increases DEF. Then, in phase 2, a new crop of characters including Neuvillette and Kaedehara Kazuha will become available.
Most interestingly, a new type of Wish Banner will become available during 4.5. The Chronicled Wish Banner will allow Travelers to pick up past featured 5-stars from Mondstadt such as Klee, Eula and, yes, even Abedo alongside standard banner 5-stars like Mona, Diluc and Jean. Additionally, a long list of 5-star weapons will be available, including the Skyward series, Beacon of the Reed Sea, and Hunter’s Path. To account for there being so many units available on this banner, players can chart a course for a specific character or weapon of their choice, similar to how the current weapon banner works. New Banner Type, the Chronicled Wish
As a slightly quieter version update, the next major thing to talk about is the events coming in Genshin Impact 4.5. The major flagship event for this version is Alchemical Ascension, an alchemy event based in Mondstadt where Travelers will aid Lisa with running a special potion shop. By cultivating herbs, brewing potions and running the store in various minigames, you will be increasing the shop’s revenue, allowing you to earn the exclusive Dialogues to the Desert Sages Polearm.
Other events coming in this version include an event where you look after various fluffy friends in the Cat’s Tail, a time-stopping combat event, and a turret-operated mini-game where you blast infinitely spawning Slimes.
Alchemy Ascension Flagship Event
The last major thing spoken about in the 4.5 Special Program was some system optimisations arriving alongside the version update. Firstly, Travelers will now be able to see all of the materials they need to obtain to level up a character’s Talents straight from the Talent menu, cutting out excess time and streamlining the experience. Second, the Training Guide will be available to give players tips and guidance on how to build their characters. These tips include what commonly used weapons and artifacts other players use and what Talents other people prioritise.
