The latest Genshin Impact livestream just concluded, giving us a sneak peek at what’s to come in the upcoming Version 3.7 update. While somewhat sparse on the surface, the livestream revealed the kit of a brand-new playable character, several events coming in Version 3.7, the usual suite of free Primogem codes and even a brief tease of the next major region, Fontaine.

Kirara, New Playable 4-Star
First up, the biggest reveal of the entire livestream was for the newest playable character, Kirara. This Inazuma 4-Star wields a Sword and a Dendro Vision and we got to see a good in-depth look at her kit. As a Yokai (specifically a Nekomata), many of Kirara’s techniques and Skills play off her feline nature: she even casts aside her Sword to attack with her claws during her Normal Attack animations.
As a unit, Kirara is an interesting supportive-oriented character. Her Skill is the most interesting thing about her, with it generating a Dendro Shield around you when you press the button. When the Skill is held, though, Kirara will transform into a small box cat, increasing her movement speed as well as her climbing and jumping abilities and dealing damage to every target she hits. Meanwhile, her Elemental Burst has Kirara summon a special delivery box packed with Dendro bombs directly on top of an enemy. These bombs act like how Klee’s do and will detonate upon coming into contact with an enemy or after a short time.
Kirara will be available in the Standard pool of 4-Stars once Version 3.7 has concluded. Until then, she will be available on one set of the current Event Wishes. Phase 1 of 3.7 will feature reruns of both Yae Miko and Yoimiya, with Kirara as a featured 4-Star on both banners. Then, in phase 2, Alhaitham returns for his first rerun alongside the much beloved Kaedehara Kazuha.

The livestream also revealed what the major events and updates for Genshin Impact 3.7. The largest event for the entire patch will be the Duel! Summoners Summit! event. During this event, Travelers will visit each of the four major regions in Genshin Impact alongside a reporter from Fontaine called Charlotte (who looks to be a shoo-in for a future playable character) as she reports on an international Genius Invokation TCG tournament. The event will feature your usual host of activities ranging from a traversal challenge to a combat challenge, and it will offer the exclusive 4-Star Ibis Piercer Bow for its duration. A major expansion to the TCG is also coming, including new cards of all 4 Archons.
Other events making their way to the game include a revamped and updated version of Divine Ingenuity, an event where Travelers can create their own Domains and share them with other players. There’ll also be two more combat events similar to those seen in previous versions, alongside part 2 of Yoimiya’s Story Quest and a Hangout for Kaveh.

Finally, and most surprisingly, we got a very brief teaser of the next major region in Genshin Impact, Fontaine. In it, we see a beautiful underwater landscape full of various fish and wildlife before the Traveler emerges, swimming off into the distance. Fontaine is the land of the Hydro Archon and it looks like we’ll be exploring a lot of water-based environments during our time in the land of justice.
Genshin Impact Version 3.7 launches on May 24th.
