Several days have passed since Sunday was announced as the first headlining 5-star character for Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7. However, he isn’t the only new unit arriving in our return to Penacony as a second batch of drip marketing has dropped, revealing that the second new 5-star of HSR Version 2.7 is none other than the reborn Tingyun, Fugue.
Along with a new name, Fugue also has a new Path and element that is distinct from ordinary Tingyun. While her old 4-star self was a Lightning Harmony unit, Fugue is our second 5-star Fire Nihility character, a combination also shared by the recently released Jiaoqiu. Fugue’s design has also been heavily updated, sporting an arrangement of several Foxian tails while her style of dress is still reminiscent of that seen on the Luofu.
“Benefactor, though the Cosmos stretches far and wide, and the stars fill the sky, as long as we hold each other in our thoughts, there will always be a chance for reunion.”
“A tactful foxian girl, whose appearance, name, and identity have all been stolen.
The fates have left her a thread of chance at survival, yet the brand of Destruction still writhes with anticipation. The one in a fugue who has experienced life and death and is given a new life… when would she be able to return home?”
Fugue Drip Marketing Description
Tingyun played a prominent role in the early stages of the Xianzhou Lufou storyline back at the start of Star Rail’s life cycle. She was our guide around the Luofu and we her dear Benefactor, a name that she still seemingly uses for us as Fugue. However, it was later revealed that Tingyun’s appearance and body had been stolen by Lord Ravager of the Destruction, Phantyllia. She had puppeteered Tingyun’s body since the start and, after a brutal dispatch, many assumed Tingyun was dead or lost.
Recent events have since showcased the opposite, with Ruan Mei, the talented biologist belonging to the Genius Society, taking some role in Tingyun’s resurrection. Tingyun’s new name, Fugue, means to lose awareness of one’s identity, fitting for a figure such as Tingyun. Additionally, her drip marketing description does point to the fact that this may be the same body puppeteered by Phantyllia, concerning the writhing brand of Destruction as well as the fact that she still remembers us as Benefactor.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7, which will feature both Sunday and Fugue as featured 5-star characters, launches in early December. Meanwhile, Version 2.6, which marks our return to Penacony as well as the release of the new 5-star character Rappa, releases a bit earlier on October 23rd.
