After over a year of waiting, Bethesda has finally revealed when the next-gen update for Fallout 4 arrives. This update has been long prophesied even since 2022 when Todd Howard announced it during the 25th anniversary of Fallout. Originally it was slated for a 2023 release but was pushed back to 2024 with no concrete release date. This caused many people to speculate that the update would arrive sometime around the live-action adaptation release. Now we’re here on the day of Amazon’s Fallout show release and Bethesda has finally given us what we needed. The update is scheduled to roll out on April 25th for PC and Consoles.
Update Information for PC and Consoles
It features native applications for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Performance mode and Quality mode settings, plus stability improvements and fixes. Fallout 4 players on PS4 and Xbox One will receive a free update with stability improvements, login and quest fixes. It’s important to mention to download the update on a next-gen console, you must own Fallout 4 for that device.
Regarding PC players, the update features widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, as well as fixes to Creation Kit and a variety of quest updates. Players with PC versions of Fallout 4 on Steam, Microsoft Store and GOG will receive stability, mods and bug fixes. For Japanese and Chinese language players on PC, Bethesda.net login issues have been resolved, fixing access to mods. Alongside the update, Fallout 4 is getting verified for Steam Deck and will be available to purchase on the Epic Games Store.

New Content
Also coming for free within the update is content straight from Creation Club. The first of three packs is Enclave Remnants which brings the Pre-War cabal to the Fallout 4 storyline. In this new quest, “Echoes of the Past,” can you stop The Enclave from spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth? Alongside the workshop items and the Enclave Colonel uniform, you can get your hands on Enclave weapon and armor skins, the Tesla Cannon, Hellfire Power Armor, X-02 Power Armor, and a Heavy Incinerator.

The second pack coming with the Fallout 4 update is the Makeshift Weapon Pack. This weapon pack involves taking a variety of unconventional objects and transforming them into deadly weapons. This pack includes a baseball launcher, a nail gun and a piggy bank launcher. The third pack is a little spooky with the Halloween Workshop. These 38 leftover decorations courtesy of an ill-fated Halloween party, thrown by the New England Technocrat Society will help keep your settlements spooky all year round. The decorations include witches, cauldrons, ghouls and more!
