The Game Awards plays out as part award show and part industry showcase as it always has some goodies to show us gamers for the future. Last night, we got a trailer (seen below) for a video game based on the Evil Dead series, and it’s coming in 2021.
The footage gives us a cinematic, going over a gist of the narrative as Ash (Bruce Campbell) found the Necronomicon, an ancient book that brings out demons, in a cabin with some friends. Now he and his crew must face off against hellish beings. We see characters across the universe. While seeing a younger Ash from the 1981 film, we see characters like Arthur (Marcus Gilbert) from Army of Darkness and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) from the canceled Starz series, Ash vs. Evil Dead. The series took place 30 years later as everything comes back to haunt the chainsaw-handed protagonist.
We get some meaty gameplay towards the end, showing off plenty of shooting and slashing from this upcoming third-person action game. Players will find themselves either on the side of the living or the deadites as you go at one another. Saber Interactive will have a variety of maps from the films and shows along with dozens of weapons.
Saber Interactive was most recently behind the World War Z game that was released last year. The studio is partnering with a newer company, Boss Team Games, which developed Cobra Kai: Card Fighter, based on the Karate Kid series.
Evil Dead will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
What do you think of the Evil Dead game coming in 2021? Let us know in the comments.

As of now, we don’t know. So far, it seems like it’s a PvP game. As a big single-player guy, my fingers are crossed for a campaign.
