Destiny 2: Into the Light Gets a Release Date and Three Reveal Livestreams

The Into the Light update, the next big update coming to Destiny 2 in April, has finally got an official release date thanks to this week's TWID. Alongside the release date announcement, Bungie also showed off a new piece of key art for Into the Light as well as dates for three reveal livestreams revolving around the update's contents.

Destiny 2: Into the Light Gets a Release Date and Three Reveal LivestreamsDestiny 2’s big April update, Into the Light, has finally received both a release date and a date when we’ll first get to see what the update is all about. The news came as part of the weekly Destiny update, This Week In Destiny, on Bungie’s official website. During the update, Into the Light got an official release date of April 9th, the same day that patch 7.3.6 is coming to Destiny 2.

Into the Light was first announced a few months ago alongside the official news of The Final Shape delay. Intended as a smaller injection of content – new guns, new armour, new activities – for all players to experience during the remaining three months until the next expansion, many anticipate Into the Light to be similar in style, if not scope, to the 30th Anniversary Pack. Into the Light will be a completely free update for all players.

As for what kind of content Into the Light will bring to Destiny 2, not much is known at this point. The TWID did not announce any substantial new details aside from a single bit of interesting key art featuring Guardians fighting off waves of Hive within The City. The first glimpse we’ll get at the update will be during three livestreams over the next few weeks. The first livestream will go live on Tuesday, March 19th. A second livestream will follow a week later on the 26th of March, with a final third livestream arriving on the same day as Into the Light’s launch on April 9th.

Additionally, Bungie is throwing in a few extra rewards in the form of exclusive Twitch Drops during the Into the Light livestreams. By watching 30 minutes across all three streams, you will net yourself the Those Held Dear emblem, whereas watching 2 hours will get you the Echo Diamond emblem. To claim the emblems, watch the streams and link your Bungie account to your Twitch. The fact that they’re asking people to watch for two hours gives us a pretty decent idea of how much they’ll be showing, as well as how much content Into the Light will bring.

Into the Light, and Destiny 2 Update 7.3.6, launches on April 9th.
