Speaking with GamesRadar, developer CD Project Red’s global PR director Radek Grabowski confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty will be a paid expansion. As well as the game’s only major expansion. He did not comment on exactly how much the expansion will cost, however, stating that, “as for the expansion’s pricing – we have not revealed exact details yet. But it will be a paid one”. As well as commenting on the fact that expansions in previous CD Projekt Red games have been “traditionally cheaper than full-priced games”.
This doesn’t narrow the potential price tag down by much, but it will likely compare to The Witcher 3’s DLC expansions. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine released in 2015 and 2016 respectively and cost $10 and $20 respectively. As Phantom Liberty is slated to be on the larger side as expansion DLCs go, it will likely be priced similarly to Blood and Wine, possibly between the $20-30 mark.
I, V, do solemnly swear that I shall faithfully serve the New United States of America.

Considering all of the work developers CD Projekt Red has put into Cyberpunk 2077 since launch to bring it closer in line with the game it was promised to be, it seems only fair that such a big expansion should come with a price tag. Especially as all updates and DLCs up till now have been given out for free. Updates like the Next-Gen patch, which greatly improved the performance and visuals of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the fantastic Edgerunners update, which added brand-new outfits, weapons, missions, and more based on the Netflix anime of the same name.
Phantom Liberty is being billed as a “spy thriller” in which V, the main protagonist, must team up with the New United States of America. The expansion will take players to a brand-new, never-before-seen district in Night City, with new stories and characters that promise intrigue and betrayal. Keanu Reeves is also set to return as Johnny Silverhand. The expansion to due out sometime in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
