Retro-indie game publisher Phoenix Ware announced the platformer CeL Story for Nintendo Game Boy is available for pre-order. Developed by CeL (@xCeLfr), who announced the game in October, the sci-fi adventure epic will release on January 6th, 2024. Like all Game Boy cartridges, the physical edition of CeL Story will be compatible with Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, and Analogue Pocket. CeL Story is a transformative odyssey of a castaway shipwrecked on a cryptic planet grappling with memory loss and a damaged spaceship.

While collecting scattered ship modules, a mysterious guide offers insights leading to a journey of self-discovery. As the hero pieces together more of their ship, they piece together more of their memories. With each repaired ship component bringing them closer to survival they come to arrive at understanding their enigmatic past.

CeL Story is published by Phoenix Ware a Bitmap Soft subsidiary. Established in 2019 their motto is “Putting the NEW into RETRO!”, their aim is to create a catalogue of games across a broad spectrum of console systems instead of just following the hype cycle. They currently support the C16, CPlus/4, C64, Amstrad CPC 464, ZX Spectrum 48k/128k/NEXT, CD32 and the Atari ST & Commodore Amiga range of computers.
