Candy Crush, a popular tile puzzle mobile game with billions of downloads to date, is bringing back its iconic Candy Crush All Stars Tournament, which this time around will feature a massive $1 million prize pool.
According to a new press release, the month-long tournament will start on March 28th and will have players from all over the world compete for a top 10 spot, which would land them in the finals of the tournament for a chance to win a portion of the $1 million prize pool.
The winners would also win a trip to Los Angeles, California, where the finals would take place live and in person. Candy Crush also held the All Stars Tournament in 2023, except that time, the prize pool was $250,000. The 2024 iteration marks the fourth version of the Candy Crush All Stars event, according to Todd Green, the general manager of the Candy Crush franchise.
“With 4 Candy Crush All Stars tournaments already completed, we’ve shared so many amazing experiences with our players. We’re bringing together people who love our game for a tournament like no other. Candy Crush All Stars players know how to have fun while enjoying a great competition – and this year, we’re bringing a record-breaking prize pot to level up the rewards and to continue to surprise and delight our players.”
The game’s developer, King, became a part of Activision Blizzard in 2016, a big part of the reason why the publishing giant raked in $4 billion worth of microtransactions in 2017. According to previous reports, Candy Crush at the time hauled in nearly $2 billion worth of revenue for Activision Blizzard.
According to data-aggregating website Statistica, Candy Crush Saga was still being downloaded tens of millions of times per month as of the end of 2023.
