Activision Blizzard says the Operation: Day Zero event lets gamers earn rewards by completing in-game challenges, which will also be available across other games in the Call of Duty franchise, such as 2023’s reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
The event will take place across the two aforementioned maps and will have players vying to complete specific challenges, such as getting headshots, completing contracts, purchasing items from the buy store, or eliminating an enemy player, to earn rewards.
In a recent interview with GamesBeat, Chris Plummer, co-studio head for Warzone Mobile, affirmed that the game is not a port, but a standalone title of its own.
It’s not a port. It’s important to emphasize that. We’re not trying to do a straight port of the console experience. We feel like we’ve created the best-in-class experience. This is what Call of Duty is meant to be if you’re fully connected on a touch screen.
If touch screens aren’t your thing, of course, we support Bluetooth controllers and all these other ways to play. But what most people are doing around the world when they play a mobile game is they pull it out of their pocket whenever time allows and they get a session in. That’s what we wanted them to be able to do. We focused on that.
