After 8 years, Blumhouse has finally revealed the release date for the new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. In April 2015, the movie was first announced under the involvement of Warner Bros. Pictures, directed and co-written by Gil Kenan. After many delays in production, Warner Bros. turned over their rights to the film in 2017, handing it over to Blumhouse Productions.
From the studio that produced M3GAN, The Black Phone, and Get Out, fans became hopeful that Blumhouse would be able to bring the FNAF movie to justice. Directed by Emma Tammi, the movies also stars well-known actors such as Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard. Lillard, who is known for his role as Stuart “Stu” Macher in the hit-movie Scream, will be playing William Afton. In addition to that, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will be taking part in designing the animatronics for the film as well.

Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse Productions, revealed on twitter that the movie will debut on October 27th, 2023. The official BlumHouse Instagram mentions that the film may also premier on Peacock along with its theatrical release. While there still hasn’t been much revealed, fans are eager to learn more about the movie. Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s, announced on Reddit the process of his screenplays 2 years ago. He mentions that one of the delays in production was choosing the right plotline to include within the movie. We can assume that the movie will most likely follow the story of Mike Schmidt, played by Hutcherson, a security guard in the first game.
