Modiphius Entertainment affirms a new edition of the glowingly-favored Dark Deeds has been produced. Thanks to a licensing deal with Rookery Publications, the tabletop publisher will be purveying a made over version of this cult-classic card game. Dark Deeds is an original creation from Blizzard Entertainment gaming legends Andy Chambers and Mark Gibbons. Chambers is best known as the author of various Warhammer 40,000 miniature wargame reference and source materials. He was also the lead writer for Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. Gibbons is a long time creator of an impressive artwork portfolio, most notably his concept work at Blizzard Entertainment.
Set in a sinister fantasy city, Dark Deeds casts players as malicious minions. Begrudgingly in service to a powerful, mysterious, and clearly villainous Patron. In the service of this dark power, minions must perform…acts of thievery, violence, and betrayal, all while avoiding suspicious authorities, interfering do-gooders, and the machinations of their rivals. Rich rewards await the most successful minion, alongside horrific punishments for those who fail.
“Andy Chambers, Ryan Miller and myself created the original Dark Deeds over a frenzied six months back in 2015…and put the devious little game on the shelves for a limited run the following year. We sold every copy thanks to the encouraging buzz from a hardcore fanbase,” – Mark Gibbons
Dark Deeds, New Edition
Additionally, through a release via Modiphius Entertainment, Gibbons remarks that Dark Deeds: Second Stab became an obsession during Covid lockdowns. However, after taking in the original designers notes and player feedback he set to create an improved version of the game. Finally, he received the greenlight from Modiphius’ very own, Chris Birch. Then, Andy Chambers and Gibbons partnered up with Rookery Publications to finalize the version. Together they revised and rebalanced the rulebook, created extra cards, as well as new art.
There is currently no set date on when players can join the nefarious Patron’s ranks. Interested gamers can sign-up to be the first to know on Modiphius’ website. If you can’t wait to see what all the skullduggery is about, head over to Tabletopia to sample Dark Deeds: Second Stab.
