It has been over 10 years since The Elder Scrolls Online came out. The game grew and changed with every expansion over the years. Now, a forgotten Daedric prince of old, Ithelia, has returned looking for revenge after being forgotten thanks to Hermaeus Mora.
The DLC takes place in Colovian West Weald, a land in chaos with the new Daedric Prince Ithelia’s return. Ithelia’s story began back in 2023, during the Shadows Over Morrowind saga.
West Weald is located along the border of Cyrodiil, Valenwood, and Gold Coast. Because of the Daedric Prince’s influence, the land has become overgrown with large jungles, leading to Wood Elves migrating to the region.
West Weald, Gold Road
The new area allows players to explore the city of Skingrad, Gold Road, and the new regions overtaken by jungles known as the Dawnwood. It’s within these new lands that you’ll take on the quest to restore the ancient Scholarium and with it expand your abilities as a scribe.
The scribing system gives players more options when it comes to their character skills, becoming more reflective and customizable. As a scribe, you transform a Grimoire by editing its script, the spelling becoming a tailored fit to your playstyle.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road Update is out now for PC and Mac. For those looking to jump into the content on the console, you will have to wait a little bit longer. ESO’s Gold Road expansion releases for Xbox and PlayStation on June 18, 2024.
