You may not know about this special quest that's exclusive to the world of Ciudad Enamorada in The Sims 4 Lovestruck, but this guide will show you how to complete The Ring Quest from start to finish. Also, you'll learn why it's worth doing and who exactly the Sad Bear is.

The Sims 4 Lovestruck Guide How to Complete the Sad Bear's Ring Quest

If you’ve been playing in the world of Ciudad Enamorada that comes with The Sims 4 Lovestruck Expansion Pack, you might have noticed a Sim in a blue bear costume wandering around the city. This is the Sad Bear, and underneath the costume is a Sim called Sammy García. If you play The Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack, it’s easy to mistake him for another Sim in a bear costume. He is, but this is part of a unique mini quest in Ciudad Enamorada. If you talk to the Sad Bear, you might just embark on a journey on a special quest, one around love and heartbreak… and a magic ring. It’s quite easy to miss this quest, as it’s only discovered by speaking to the Sad Bear, and it’s also quite easy to complete. Your reward though is highly valuable, in more ways than one. This guide will walk you through the Ring Quest. It doesn’t take long to do at all, and it’s well worth it, so you should give it a try.

How to Find the Sad Bear

The Sad Bear isn’t really easy to miss. He’s wearing a big blue bear costume with a sad watery-eyed expression and a broken heart on his tummy. The key is locating him.

The Sad Bear is easy to spot even when far away with his distinctive costume.

The Sad Bear can be found around Ciudad Enamorada, usually in Plaza Mariposa (aka the big park) and Vista Hermosa (the neighborhood with the nightclub and Wall of Love). At Plaza Mariposa, he’s specifically found at the Fountain of Wishes. He’s also seen wandering around Vista Hermosa. If you start playing in Ciudad Enamorada as a starter Sim, he’s also likely to appear as one of the visitors at your Sim’s Welcome Wagon.

When you find him, hover the cursor over him and the game will tell you that he’s the Sad Bear, and his real name is Sammy García.

When hovering the cursor over the Bear, you'll learn his real name: Sammy Garcia.

The Sad Bear has a few unique interactions. You can ask him about all the romantic activities that comes with The Sims 4 Lovestruck, such as attraction, turn ons and offs, dating, and more. You can also give him a Pity Hug, which causes your Sim to become Sad for two hours. It’s the other two interactions you need for the quest though.

How to Start the Ring Quest

To initiate the Ring Quest, you need to speak to the Sad Bear. Specifically, you need to use the social Ask about Sadness. The Sad Bear will tell you that he’s lost his ring. He states that he threw it into the nearby pond, but now wants to retrieve it. Unfortunately, he can’t fish it out. Maybe you could? Doing this officially begins the Ring Quest.

Why are you so sad, Mr Sad Bear?

Also, make sure to Ask about Bear Costume. You might think it’s just another random interaction, but it becomes important throughout the quest, as you’ll soon see.

Hey, why are you wearing a bear costume?

How to Get the Ring

Your first assigned task in the Ring Quest is to retrieve the ring the Bear was talking about. To do this, you need to do a spot of fishing in Ciudad Enamorada. There are two fishing spots in the city. One is in Vista Hermosa at the park, the other in Plaza Mariposa in the big park. No matter where you speak to the Sad Bear, he mentions a “nearby pond”, so it could be either one of these ponds you fish at.

To find and retrieve the ring, all you need to do is get fishing! Go fishing at either ponds. It may take a while before you get the ring. There’s no way to speed up the process or get a greater chance of getting the ring. Just continue fishing and eventually it’ll appear in your Sim’s inventory. Keep an eye on your Sim’s pockets. The ring is in an open box, and is given the name “A…ring?”

So, you’ve found the ring? Great! Although your initial thought is to speak to the Sad Bear right away, don’t do this just yet. There’s something you need to do first. Once the ring is in your inventory, you get two interactions. One is the usual Place in World interaction. You don’t need to do this. The interaction you want is Examine Ring. Your Sim will take a good look at it, curious about their new find. Your Sim discovers some strange markings they can’t decipher, but the Sad Bear might be able to. This then unlocks the task to talk to the Sad Bear.

Where to Find Clues

Go and find the Sad Bear. When you next see him, there are two new interactions. One is Push for Bear Costume Answers. Make sure you do this one. The other new interaction is Ask about Ring. The Bear provides a useful hint. He mentions something about a Fountain. Hmm. He’s not talking about the big fountain at the square in Nuevo Corazón. This is the Fountain of Wishes in Plaza Mariposa, where the Sad Bear can often be seen.

Head over to the fountain. There, you’ll see a new interaction: Search Fountain for Clues. Your Sim finds more strange markings around the base of the fountain. Looks like the Sad Bear might know something about it, so go and find him. If you’re lucky, he’ll be at the fountain already.

Locate the Sad Bear and do these two interactions: Insist on Bear Costume Answers and Ask about Odd Markings on Fountain. Regarding the second option, the Bear talks about a Wall. There are a lot of walls around Ciudad Enamorada, but the Wall he’s referring to is the Wall of Love, located in Vista Hermosa.

The Wall of Love can be tricky to locate if you’re not familiar with the area. It’s easy to miss. It’s near the nightclub, to its left. The Wall of Love is distinctive-looking, a sandy-colored stone carving depicting a man and woman couple.

At the Wall, select the interaction Look for Clues on the Wall. This time, your Sim gets the info they need themselves. They learn that they need to rub the ring to unlock its powers.

Unlocking the Ring’s Power

You now have the knowledge to unlock the Ring’s power. You might as well give it a go! Select the Magical Ring and use the interaction Rub Ring. Your Sim will do just that. You’ll know it works because a green glow will emit from your Sim. This gives your Sim a Confident moodlet that lasts four hours.

Congratulations, you have officially unlocked the Ring’s magical power! You are now free to use the ring at your pleasure. You can use the Activate Powers interaction to work the Ring’s magic. Note that you need to let its powers regenerate between uses.

There are a few other things you can do. Your Sim can wear the Ring via Create-A-Sim. The Ring can also be sold at a high price of §5,000! What you do with the Ring is entirely up to you, but completing the quest is worth it, whether you keep or sell the Ring.

How to Free the Sad Bear

Although the Ring Quest is officially done, there is just one more thing to do. Remember those Ask about Costume interactions that change throughout the quest? After completing the quest, find the Sad Bear and use the social PLEAD for Bear Costume Explanation!

He reveals that he started wearing the Sad Bear costume after his lover gave him his ring back (yes, that ring), or maybe it was cursed? He also reveals that when he was younger, he went through a bear costume phase and his mother wore a costume with him. This is a familiar scenario if you play The Sims 4 Parenthood and your child goes through the I’m a Bear! phase. The Sad Bear, aka Sammy García, decides that he doesn’t need to wear the costume anymore, and he’ll promptly take it off and wear ordinary clothes. Congratulations! Not only have you completed the Ring Quest, but you’ve freed the Sad Bear as well.

After Sammy removes his costume, he’ll lose the title of Sad Bear. You can interact with him just like any other Sim. You can even use Romantic interactions on him and start a relationship! You will no longer be able to ask him about romantic interactions or give him a Pity Hug. You also unlock the Sad Bear’s blue costume, if you ever want to dress up as one yourself. After Sammy decides to no longer be the Sad Bear, another Sim will replace him, donning the iconic costume. However, you won’t get to do the Ring Quest again.

The Sad Bear is now history. Sammy Garcia is free!
