Salt is a resource every player needs for various cooking requirements and preserving food, which will increase its shelf life, keeping your food unspoiled for much longer. How to Get Salt in Once Human
In Once Human, you may come across salt scattered among the storage containers if you’re lucky. However, due to its high demand, the chances are quite slim. Even if you do find some, the quantity may not be sufficient for your needs. So, there is a more reliable method for crafting salt using seawater and a stove.
Unlock and Craft Stove
The Memetic that allows you to create a stove is found in the first tier of the Managing skill tree and is simply called “Stoves.” Once you’ve unlocked the stove now you need to craft it.
Crafting Stove requirements
Under Facilities, you will find Production Processing, and under Crafting there is the Stove. It requires these materials:
- 25x Copper Ore
- 20x Gravel
- 30x Charcoal
- 10x Metal Scraps
You are almost ready to craft salt; all you need now is seawater.
Collect Sea Water
Seawater is the most crucial component for getting Salt in Once Human. To obtain it, you need to go to the far eastern or southern coastline where you will find an enormous amount of Seawater and a teleportation tower. Just keep in mind that oceans and lakes are different: Lakes have fresh water, which can sometimes be dirty, while oceans have saltwater.

Now, to collect seawater, go into the ocean deep enough until you see a “Collect” prompt on your screen. Simply click the prompt and ensure that your container is sealed. One stack of seawater gets you one stack of salt, so make sure to collect as much as you need. Once collected, head back to your base using a teleport tower or a bicycle to reach faster.

Now, you have collected all the necessary items to craft Salt in Once Human. To start the preparation of making Salt for the preservation of your food:
- Go to your stove and open the menu. Look for the salt recipe.
- You will need one stack of seawater and three logs to obtain salt. The process takes almost five seconds.
- Once you have the salt, begin dehydrating your food for longer preservation.
