How to Respec in Enshrouded

Resetting your Skill Points in Enshrouded is actually a fairly simple system. All you need is some Runes and an active Flame Altar, which every player should have as the core of their base. While you’re inside your base, you can interact with the Flame Altar to either upgrade the Altar itself, which increases that Altar’s building area, or strengthen its Flame, improving several important stats like Shroud Protection.

However, there is also a third option when interacting with the Flame Altar simply titled Reset Skill Points. This is the option you need to press if you want to respec in Enshrouded. The Flame Altar will then ask you to spend several Runes, after which your Skills will reset and you’ll be given all your Skill Points back. Then, simply select your new set of Skills and away you go.

One of the best things about this is that you can reset your Skills at any time without limit, so long as you have the Runes. No matter your level, it will always cost only 10 Runes to reset your character, meaning that switching builds is easy, cheap and efficient. As such, don’t be afraid to experiment and change up your playstyle when coming across something new as you can always revert for cheap.

How to Easily Get Runes in Enshrouded

Of course, to select the reset option at a Flame Altar, you’ll need at least a handful of Runes. Runes are a strange and rare resource in Enshrouded which are primarily used to enhance your weapons at the Blacksmith.

So, how can you can get easy Runes in Enshrouded so that you can respec without worry?

Salvage Equipment

The best method of acquiring Runes is to Salvage equipment you aren’t using. For weapons and tools like Swords, Axes, Bows and Staves, you have two options if you want to get rid of them: Delete, which just gets rid of the item from your inventory, and Salvage, which converts the weapon into Runes.

The amount of Runes you’ll get from Salvaging depends on the rarity of the weapon itself, with Common and Uncommon gear awarding a middling amount of Runes (around 5 to 15) whereas Epic and Legendary items award a massive amount of Runes (upwards of 35 Runes). Additionally, if you’ve previously enhanced a weapon, you’ll get some of the Runes you spent on it back if you Salvage it. Considering that respeccing only requires 10 Runes, dismantling an Uncommon or Rare item should be enough to reset your Skills.

Salvaging is honestly such a great system that you should try and Salvage leftover equipment whenever you can. In fact, if you come across an item out in the wild which isn’t as good as your current equipment, don’t leave it there and simply Salvage it, turning a downer discovery into free Runes for enhancing or respeccing.

Defeating Enemies

Aside from Salvaging, the other main way to obtain Runes in Enshrouded is to collect them from the bodies of slain foes. Enemies typically have a set number of items they can drop when defeated – for example, Scavengers have a chance to drop Metal Scraps whereas wolves can drop Bones or Animal Fur – with Runes being a rare drop from most enemy types.

Certain enemies seem to drop Runes more often than others, though. The main enemies you’ll find dropping Runes after death are the Fell enemies, the creatures who have been turned and tainted by the Shroud. These enemies seem to have a higher chance of dropping Runes, especially those within the vicinity of an Elixir Well, with bosses like the Thunderbrute having the biggest chance of dropping them.

Aside from that. just make sure you’re looting every foe you slay on the off chance that they’re carrying Runes. While regular bodies will only typically drop 1 to 5 Runes, a pittance compared to Salvaging, bosses can drop over 20 Runes on a successful kill and even the small amounts can build up over the long run, ensuring that you never have to worry about running out again.
