Honkai: Star Rail Topaz Build Guide | Topaz Best Light Cone, Relics and Teams

The second half of Version 1.4 of Honkai: Star Rail has brought it with a brand new 5-Star Hunt character with Topaz, leader of the Special Debts Picket Team for the Interastral Peace Corporation. As a Fire element Hunt character, Topaz is the first new Hunt character to join the game since Seele in 1.0 and, compared to some of the other single-target damage dealers, she differs in a lot of ways. Alongside her trusty Warp Trotter Numby, Topaz’s kit is almost entirely focused on Follow-Up Attacks, which includes her ability to increase the damage of other characters’ Follow-Ups. While it may be easy to overlook her when compared to damage heavyweights like Jingliu, Topaz has the potential to be one of the best characters in Honkai: Star Rail and a great investment for future units.

Here’s how to make the best Topaz build in Honkai Star Rail, including a full breakdown of Topaz’s kit and abilities, her best Traces and what order you should level them, her best Light Cones and Relic sets and what premium and F2P team compositions you should run her in. If you’re still unsure about whether or not Topaz is right for you or whether you want to save for a different upcoming character, check out our guide on the pros and cons of Topaz and her version companion Jingliu

Topaz Ascension Materials

At the top of this guide for the best Topaz build in Honkai: Star Rail, we’ll discuss what materials you’ll need in order to ascend Topaz and Numby to the maximum level. If you want to take them to level 80 and unlock all of their Traces, you’ll need the following resources at your disposal:

  • 15x Silvermane Badge / 15x Silvermane Insignia / 15x Silvermane Medals (Enemy Drops)
  • 65x Searing Steel Blade (Stagnant Shadow Material)
  • 300,000 Credits

The first set of Topaz materials we’ll be discussing is the Silvermane series of enemy drops. You can obtain these materials by defeating any enemy aligned with the Silvermane Guards of Belobog, including the Silvermane Soldier, Silvermane Gunner, Silvermane Cannoneer and the Silver Lieutenant. The best place to find a large amount of Silvermane Guards is the Belobog Overworld, with the Outlying Snow Plains and Silvermane Guard Restricted Zone being the most populated areas. Additionally, you can exchange or transform materials using the Omni-Synthesizer or enter the Simulated Universe for infinite material farming, with Worlds 1, 2, 3 and 4 having the heaviest Silvermane Guard population.

Aside from the Silvermane drops, you’ll also need to grab a lot of Searing Steel Blades, a new Stagnant Shadow material introduced in Version 1.4. You’ll find this Stagnant Shadow – called Shape of Scorch – in the depths of Belobog’s Great Mine and it’s a new source of materials for Fire characters like Topaz or Guinaifen. 65 Searing Steel Blades are needed to ascend Topaz to the maximum level, with higher difficulty runs of the Shape of Scorch providing more drops. The main boss of this Stagnant Shadow is a Searing Prowler, a Belobogian machine which will burn your allies and is weak to Ice, Lightning and Imaginary DMG.

There are some additional materials you’ll want to pick up for when you get around to levelling Topaz’s Traces. As a character belonging to the Path of the Hunt, Topaz needs an Arrow of the Beast Hunter, Arrow of the Demon Slayer and Arrow of the Starchaser, the materials exclusive to the Hunt Path. Lastly, Topaz also needs several Regret of Infinite Ochema drops, the material which drops from the Phantyllia the Undying Echo of War.

Honkai Star Rail Topaz and Numby Kit and Abilities Overview

Basic Attack: Deficit…

The first part of Topaz’s kit is her Basic Attack, Deficit… which deals a minor amount of Fire DMG to a single enemy.

On its lonesome, Deficit… really isn’t anything special, with Topaz’s other abilities contributing to her intended playstyle far more. However, thanks to the intervention of some of Topaz’s Talents that we’ll discuss later on, even her Basic ATK can become a force to be reckoned with, especially on an Elation Path Simulated Universe Run.

Basic Attack

Basic Attack

Skill: Difficulty Paying?

Next on the list is Topaz’s Skill, Difficulty Paying? When cast, this Skill inflicts a chosen target with the Proof of Debt status, increasing the DMG they take from Follow-Up Attacks substantially. Only one instance of Proof of Debt can exist at any one time and, if there are no enemies with Proof of Debt at the start of an ally’s turn, Topaz will instead inflict a random enemy with the status. Additionally, the enemy you marked with the Proof of Debt will instantly be attacked by Numby, who will deal Fire DMG to the target.

Topaz’s Skill is excellent on a few levels, firstly serving as her main and most consistent source of damage for the IPC debt collector. The damage dealt by Numby is considered Follow-Up Attack damage, even the instance triggered by the end of the Skill, meaning that it can benefit from Proof of Debt’s FUA damage increase. This self-contained loop allows Topaz’s Skill to be a consistent and powerful ability for her own ends, increasing her own damage output significantly.

However, because Proof of Debt increases all Follow-Up Attack damage and not just Topaz’s Follow-Up damage, it allows her to slide quite nicely into a more hybrid role, buffing the likes of anyone who uses Follow-Up Attacks: whether it be Clara, Himeko, Blade and even March or Herta, Topaz can exponentially increase their individual damage output with Proof of Debt. This one Skill is the reason why Topaz is so strong and so desirable, making her a great investment option for the future of Honkai: Star Rail

Topaz Skill

Topaz Skill

Ultimate: Turn a Profit!

Turn a Profit! is Topaz’s Ultimate and it revolves entirely around Numby, Topaz’s summon from her Talent. Using her Ultimate causes Numby to enter the Windfall Bonanza! state, massively increasing Numby’s DMG multipliers and CRIT DMG. While in this state, if a Proof of Debt marked enemy is hit by an ally’s Basic ATK, Skill or Ultimate, Numby’s action will be Advanced Forward by 50%. Numby will exit the Winfall Bonanza! state after using 2 attacks.

Getting Topaz’s Ultimate as quickly and consistently as possible is one of the big parts of her playstyle as it is a super impactful buff to her main source of DPS (which is Numby). We’ll discuss Numby’s role in Topaz’s playstyle in a moment but, just on the surface, the additional raw damage and CRIT DMG from the Windfall Bonanza state are already incredible, especially when you pair it with the Follow-Up Attack DMG increase from Proof of Debt. If the stars align and you’re able to line up all of Topaz’s various effects at once, she (with the aid of Numby) can become a single-target damage monster.

Windfall Bonanza!

Windfall Bonanza!

Talent: Trotter Market!?

Topaz’s Talent is one of the most important parts of her kit as it controls and maintains the strength of Numby, her unique summon which can be heavily likened to Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord. At the start of a battle, Topaz will summon her pet Warp Trotter, Numby, who has a base SPD of 80 by default. Whenever it gets to Numby’s turn and they need to take action, they will launch a Follow-Up Attack against any target with the Proof of Debt status effect, dealing major Fire DMG equal to a percentage of Topaz’s ATK. Whenever an enemy afflicted with Proof of Debt is struck by an ally’s Follow-Up Attack (which does include Topaz), Numby’s action is Advanced Forward by 50%.

Numby is a key and integral part of Topaz’s success and, in all honestly, will be her primary source of damage. The main reason why you’ll be buffing Topaz’s ATK or applying Proof of Debt isn’t to increase Topaz’s damage output but to increase Numby’s damage. Compared to another summon such as the previously mentioned Lightning Lord, Numby doesn’t rely on Topaz as much, especially because Proof of Debt automatically reapplies itself if no enemy has it when you reach Numby’s turn.

Pair this with Windfall Bonanza state from her Ultimate and Numby will quickly become the main DPS machine of your entire team, tearing apart foes and constantly getting new Actions as if they’re cosplaying Seele. Numby isn’t to be looked down upon and, aside from being the cutest little guy in all of HSR, they are the main glue holding together Topaz’s damage potential.

Technique: Explicit Subsidy

Finally, Topaz’s last ability is her Technique, Explicit Subsidy. Unlike most Techniques, Topaz’s isn’t just used for combat purposes and is actually one of Honkai Star Rail’s first exploration-based Techniques. Without even using up a Technique Point, Topaz will summon Numby to the overworld, who will automatically begin searching for Basic Treasures and Trotters within a set radius. If there is a Trotter of Chest close by, Numby will lead you to it directly.

Outside of exploration, casting this Technique and using up a Technique Point will regenerate 60 Energy for Topaz after Numby’s first attack in their next battle. Also, if Topaz is still in the team after using Explicit Subsidy and defeating overworld enemies, a small bonus amount of credits will be added to the battle’s end rewards. A maximum of 10,000 additional credits can be received per calendar day. Something similar will happen in the Simulated Universe, with additional Cosmic Fragments being received instead of credits.

Honestly, Topaz’s Technique is one of the most stacked abilities in the game and, while it doesn’t have the destructive power of someone like Jingliu or Blade, it is just as important and useful. The utility effects provided by this Technique cannot be found on any other kit in HSR. On a combat level, the additional Energy is really useful for getting off Turn a Profit! as soon as possible, whereas the exploitation-aiding and credit-earning parts of the Technique are fantastic quality-of-life improvements. Also, getting to watch a little Numby run around the overworld is always going to be a treat.

Topaz Traces

Now that we’ve gone over all of Topaz’s main abilities, we can discuss her Traces and what kind of effects and stat bonuses she can get from them. Looking at Topaz’s Trace tree as a whole, her Traces mainly increase her damage output and consistency, particularly related to Numby and Follow-Up Attacks. We’ll begin by going over the stat bonuses you can receive from Topaz’s minor Traces:

  • 19.2% Fire DMG Bonus
  • 12% CRIT Rate
  • 10% HP
Numby is Friend-Shaped

Numby is Friend-Shaped

Topaz’s first major Trace is Overdraft which you can unlock at Character Ascension 2. When Topaz uses a Basic ATK to deal DMG, it will now be considered as a Follow-Up Attack. This is excellent for several reasons, the key one being that it gives Topaz a way to interact with the Proof of Debt effect directly without constantly needing to spam her Skill: now, she can sit back and take advantage of the huge FUA damage increase without needing to chew through Skill Points. Additionally, this means that she can more consistently Advance Forward Numby, massively increasing her overall damage output.

Next on the list of Topaz’s Traces is her Character Ascension 4 Trace, Financial Turmoil. This simply increases the damage dealt by both Topaz and Numby to enemies with a Fire Weakness by 15%. While it won’t always be applicable (unless you’re running mono-Fire with Silver Wolf) this extra bit of damage on all of Topaz’s attacks and Follow-Up Attacks is going to be a nice boost, especially because she’s a single-target-focused unit.

Last, but certainly not least, is Stonks Market, her Character Ascension 6 Trace. After Numby uses an attack while in the Windfall Bonanza state, Topaz will regenerate an additional 10 Energy. The effect of this Trace is pure consistency, allowing you to piggyback off your current Ultimate to get another Ultimate. You want to be able to benefit from the additional damage and CRIT DMG from the Bonanza state as often as possible and this Trace makes this journey all the easier.

Topaz Trace Priority in Honkai: Star Rail

  1. Difficulty Paying? (Skill) / Trotter Market!? (Talent)
  2. Turn a Profit! (Ultimate)
  3. Deficit… (Basic ATK)

The priority order for Topaz’s Traces is really difficult to gauge because they’re all so interlinked and interconnected. While it is true that Numby is her main source of damage and that some players may want to go whole hog on her Talent because of that, her Skill and the Proof of Debt effect are equally as important, accounting for a large jump in the damage output of Topaz, Numby and any other Follow-Up Attack character you have on your team. However, if you go all in on her Skill, you’ll lose out in terms of sustained DPS with Numby. With two abilities as unified as these, try and level them together or focus on the one you notice yourself relying on more

As for what comes after those two Traces, we recommend following it up by focusing on her Ultimate. Investing in this Trace will increase both the damage multiplier bonus and the CRIT DMG bonus, massively increasing your DPS potential when using Numby. Because it’s an Ultimate which requires a hefty amount of Energy and it necessitates that Numby’s base damage (which is determined by Topaz’s Talent) is already good, it goes below the other two options when it comes to investment. However, don’t leave it behind because it is extremely useful and important for maintaining Topaz’s overall damage potential.

In last place, we have Topaz’s Basic ATK, Deficit… In all honesty, this isn’t a bad Trace and you should still level it, especially once you get your hands on her Character Ascension 2 Trace as the ability to deal Follow-Up Attack DMG whenever you want and without using a Skill Point is extremely useful. However, its lack of comparable damage and the synergy the rest of her kit has around Numby means that this Trace sinks to the bottom of the pile. Like with her Ultimate, don’t neglect levelling her Basic ATK but don’t prioritise levelling it over any of her other abilities.

Topaz Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail

Next up, we’ll be looking at all six of Topaz’s Eidolons and the effects they’ll provide. To pick up a character’s Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail, you need to get lucky enough to pull multiple copies of them, whether that be through events or Warping. For this instance with Topaz – who is a 5-Star character – you’ll need to get lucky enough to pull her multiple times while her unique Character Event Warp, Sunset Clause, is still ongoing.

  1. Future Market: When enemies afflicted with Proof of Debt receive Follow-Up Attacks, they will enter the Debtor state. The Debtor state increases the CRIT DMG of Follow-Up Attacks inflicted on the target enemies by 25%, stacking up to 2 times. When Proof of Debt is removed, the Debtor state is also removed and an enemy can only enter the Debtor stat once per battle.
  2. Bona Fide Acquisition: After Numby takes action and launches an attack, Topaz regenerates 5 Energy.
  3. Seize the Big and Free the Small: Skill Lv. +2 and Basic ATK Lv. +1.
  4. Agile Operation: After Numby’s turn begins, Topaz’s action is Advanced Forward by 20%.
  5. Inflationary Demand: Ultimate Lv. +2 and Talent Lv. +2.
  6. Incentive Mechanism: Numby’s attack count during the Windfall Bonanza! state increases by 1, and its Fire RES PEN (Penetration) increases by 10% when it attacks.

Topaz Best Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail

Topaz’s Best in Slot LC: Worrisome, Blissful

Without a single doubt, Topaz’s best in slot Light Cone is her unique signature LC called Worrisome, Blissful (Path of the Hunt). As a signature 5-Star Light Cone for a limited character, Worrisome, Blissful is currently only available on the Light Cone Event Warp. If you want it for yourself, pull on the Light Cone Event Warp while Topaz’s own Character Event Warp is still ongoing and you’ll have a 75% chance of getting it once you land a 5-Star. As for the effects on the LC itself, it is tailor-made for Topaz, to the point where it won’t see much use on other Hunt characters because of how Follow-Up Attack-centric it is.

At level 80, Worrisome, Blissful will provide the wielder 1058 HP, 582 ATK and 463 DEF alongside the main effect, One At A Time. This increases the CRIT Rate by 18% and their Follow-Up Attack DMG by 30%. Additionally, after the wearer uses a Follow-Up Attack, they will apply the Tame state to the target, which can stack up to 2 times. When allies hit the target afflicted by the Tame state, the CRIT DMG dealt will increase by 12% for each Tame stack.

Worrisome, Blissful

Worrisome, Blissful

As we mentioned, the effects of this Light Cone are very Topaz-focused, with a massive amount of attention on Follow-Up Attacks which may leave it feeling undeutilised in the hands of other Hunt characters. For Topaz, though, it’s excellent, improving her individual damage output significantly while adding another layer of utility to her Follow-Up Attacks. With this LC equipped, Topaz will be dealing way more damage with her FUA and be able to directly improve the damage of her allies each time she lands a Follow-Up Attack, which is effectively any move in her arsenal. This is, of course, alongside Proof of Debt which already increases ally damage.

In total, Worrisome, Blissful is a one-of-a-kind Light Cone built specifically to acquiesce to Topaz’s needs and desires and it will certainly make her one of the most powerful Hunt characters in the game. If you’re looking for a dramatic boost to both Topaz’s power and her hybrid support capabilities, consider spending some Jade on the Light Cone Event Warp to secure this cute and cuddly Light Cone for yourself.

Topaz's Signature Light Cone

Topaz’s Signature Light Cone

Recommended Replacement Light Cones for Topaz and Numby

It is undoubtedly true that Worrisome, Blissful is Topaz’s best in slot LC and, if you can get it, you should get it. However, some people either won’t be pulling for Topaz’s Light Cone or they, unfortunately, won’t get lucky enough to pull the tax collector’s signature weapon. If that happens, are you out of luck, especially considering how specific Topaz’s kit is? Fortunately, there are a ton of great replacement options which will massively aid Topaz.

Before we go any further, we should note that, outside of one major exception, we will only be recommending 4-Star Light Cones in this guide. While it is true that certain 5-Star Hunt Light Cones such as Sleep Like the Dead or In the Night will improve Topaz considerably, there’s no guarantee that players have those more powerful LCs on their accounts. In contrast, lower rarity or deterministic Light Cones are far easier to recommend to a general audience. However, if you have either of these 5-Star Hunt Light Cones, give them a go on Topaz before committing to the lower rarity option.

If you don’t have the Worrisome, Blissful LC and are looking for a good replacement, the best Light Cones for Topaz include Cruising the Stellar Sea, Swordplay and Only Silence Remains.

Cruising in the Stellar Sea

Cruising in the Stellar Sea

Starting with our rule breaker, we have Cruising in the Stellar Sea. This is one of the only F2P-friendly 5-Star Light Cones in the game because instead of pulling on the Light Cone Event Warp, you can pick up this Light Cone, and several other 5-Star ones, for free from the Simulated Universe Shop for 8 Herta Bonds. At level 80, this LC provides the wielder with 952 HP, 529 ATK and 463 DEF. This will also give you access to the Chase ability, which firstly increases CRIT Rate by 8%, which increases another 8% against enemies with less than or equal to 50% HP. Additionally, when the wearer defeats an enemy, their ATK will increase by 20% for 2 turns. While not too unique, the additional CRIT and ATK buffs are more than enough to make any Hunt character, including Topaz, a potent force on the battlefield.

Next is Swordplay, a fan favourite Hunt Light Cone which you can acquire from Warping. At level 80, Swordplay provides 952 HP, 476 ATK and 330 DEF alongside the Answer of Their Own ability. Each time the wearer hits the same target with an attack, the DMG dealt increases by 16%, which can stack up to 5 times for an 80% damage increase. This effect is dispelled when the wearer changes target. Hunt characters are single-target focused, unlike Destruction or Erudition characters, and this Light Cone ensures that you will be consistently outputting high damage so long as you stay on that path. For Topaz in particular, this is a big boon as the Proof of Debt effect can ensure that she and Numby continue attacking a single target repeatedly.

Finally, we have Only Silence Remains, another Light Cone from Warping. At max level, this LC provides 952 HP, 476 ATK and 330 DEF. Record is the ability of this Light Cone and it does two main things. The first increases the wearer’s ATK by 16% whereas the second half increases CRIT Rate by 12% if there are 2 or fewer enemies on the field. More CRIT and ATK are always going to be good on Topaz, as they’re the key stats which make her entire build come together, and this Light Cone is really going to shine in one-on-one engagements such as boss encounters.

Topaz’s Best Relics and Planar Ornaments

Levelling Traces and choosing your ideal weapon are the start of building a character in Honkai: Star Rail, with the real work coming from your Relic and Planar Ornament choices.

Topaz is a Fire Hunt character who specialises in raw damage and Follow-Up Attacks. With that in mind, the best Relic and Planar Ornament combination for Topaz in HSR is full 4-piece Firesmith of Lava-Forging with 2-piece Inert Salsotto. Full Firesmith increases Fire DMG by an additional 10%, increases the wearer’s Skill DMG by 12% and increases the wearer’s Fire DMG of her next attack by a further 12% whenever she unleashes her Ultimate. As for Inert Salsotto, this increases her CRIT Rate by 8% and will boost the damage of her Ultimate and Follow-Up Attacks by 15% when you reach a CRIT Rate stat of 50% or higher.

Path of Conflagration

Path of Conflagration

The reason why this combination is so strong on Topaz is that it specifically boosts the best parts of her kit. The boatload of additional Fire DMG is great for improving her own DPS as well as Numby’s, and the additional Skill DMG will make her all the more efficient and powerful. Additionally, thanks to the many CRIT Rate buffs from her Traces and Light Cones, hitting 50% CRIT Rate is no difficulty, meaning that you’ll be benefitting from 15% additional DMG on all of her Follow-Up Attacks: this includes her Basic ATK, Skill and all of the damage dealt by Numby. These two sets together allow Topaz to become a deadly pyromaniac capable of scorching all of the galaxy with her Trotter-fueled flames.

This is undoubtedly the best Relic set-up for Topaz in Honkai: Star Rail but, if you get unlucky and cannot hit that 50% CRIT Rate threshold, try running 2-piece Space Sealing Station instead of Inert Salsotto. While you do lose out on the extra CRIT and Follow-Up Attack DMG, you gain 12% additional ATK which increases to 24% when you reach 120 SPD or higher, something you can easily do with one of Topaz’s best pairings, Asta. This is a more straightforward option, especially because SPD is easier to earn than CRIT Rate, but we still recommend trying for a full Salsotto set as it is a massive improvement to Topaz’s capabilities.

Most Important Stats and Substats for Topaz and Numby in Honkai: Star Rail

As a main attacking unit in Honkai: Star Rail, you want your Topaz build to be the strongest and most effective it can be. Outside of fixed elements like Light Cone and Relic set choice, a lot of more minute build differences will come from what main stats and substats you manage to roll on those Relics. No matter what kind of build or team composition you aim to place Topaz in, here are the best main stats you should be searching for:

  • Body: CRIT Rate
  • Feet: ATK%
  • Planar Sphere: Fire DMG Bonus
  • Link Rope: ATK% or Energy Recharge

Meanwhile, here is the list of substats you need to keep an eye out for when farming Relics for Topaz, as well as their priority in terms of how important they are to her overall build. The more matching substats you can, the higher DPS Topaz will be able to output.

Best Teams for Topaz and Numby in HSR

Premium Follow-Up Attack Topaz Team

Because of her hybrid nature and unique focus on Follow-Up Attacks, there are multiple paths that you can take Topaz down in terms of team composition. The first team composition works around Topaz’s ability to improve Follow-Up Attacks. In it, Topaz still gets to shine as a damage dealer while emphasising her role as a pseudo-support unit, improving the damage of multiple Follow-Up Attacks while maintaining high individual damage with Numby and her Skill.

With that all in mind, Topaz’s best follow-up attack-focused premium team in Honkai Star Rail includes Asta, Lynx or March 7th and Clara.

The most important character on this team, outside of Topaz, is Clara. In her own right, Clara is already an absolute monster, with her Counter Talent allowing her to turn the tables on even the toughest foes with a devastating Follow-Up Attack. Pair this with the ability to buff her damage and place a taunt on herself for even more potential counters and Clara is already perfect for a team with a lot of squishier members (such as this one). With Topaz by her side, though, she gets even better: Proof of Debt can make her counter damage increase further, letting Clara hit for more for less work, whereas Clara’s constant FUAs will only fuel Numby and let them get off more Actions. Clara is perfect for this team and anyone who has her should be running her with Topaz at all times.

Topaz's Counter Partner, Clara

Topaz’s Counter Partner, Clara

After Clara, we have Asta, a mainstay buffer of many Honkai Star Rail teams. Despite being a F2P character, Asta’s ability to buff both SPD and ATK makes her absolutely irreplaceable, especially in a team like this where SPD really matters. The higher Topaz’s SPD, the more often she can get off a Normal ATK or Skill and accelerate Numby’s action, resulting in more consistent DPS for her. Outside of Topaz, Asta’s ATK buff and Break potential are super impactful and will benefit literally every single member of your team. Asta is easily one of Topaz’s best pairings and you shouldn’t be surprised if you see her pop up on other Topaz teams, even those which aren’t focused on Follow-Up Attacks.

Lastly, you have a choice between which sustain character you want to use on the team. Your first option is Lynx, the first Quantum Abundance character in HSR. She is a superb option for those looking for direct healing, especially because she synergises really well with Clara. She can strip debuffs with her Skill and provide a Taunt with an Ultimate, allowing you to direct almost all enemy attention on Clara, resulting in more damage and more Follow-Up Attacks. Outside of her healing, she is lacking in terms of damage, though, which may lead to her kind of just standing around a lot of the time.

On the other hand, you have March 7th as your second option. Instead of directly healing her allies, March provides a powerful shield which actually synergises with several members of this team: the shielded character gains a taunt, which is perfect for Clara, and March will let off a Follow-Up Attack whenever the shielded character is attacked, allowing her to benefit from Topaz’s Proof of Debt. March is certainly the more offence-oriented between her and Lynx but her ability to Freeze enemies may actually be a downside, as it can result in fewer counters for Clara and less overall damage. Both Lynx and March have a spot on this team and the choice is largely down to personal preference

Topaz Follow-Up Attack Premium Team

Topaz Follow-Up Attack Premium Team

Premium Main Carry Topaz Team

Aside from a Follow-Up Attack-focused team, Topaz can walk down another road if you aren’t feeling like juggling too many characters. This team composition has Topaz front and centre as the leading lady, focusing way more on her individual damage output by pumping her full of various ATK and CRIT buffs. When she’s supported by the right team members, Topaz can easily become a hyper-carry Hunt character capable of immeasurable devastation… with her cute little Warp Trotter.

If you’re looking to play Topaz as the main hyper-carry for your team in Honkai Star Rail, we recommend running her and Numby with Bronya, Yukong and Luocha

Firstly, we’ll go over the most basic character in the team, Luocha. He’s here as our healer and, most of the time, he’s just here as insurance. Topaz, Yukong and Bronya are all pretty squishy characters without a lot of defence and Luocha is here to ensure that they won’t just fall flat and die at a moment’s notice, with his automatically healing making one of the best, if not the best, healers in the entire game. In fact, Topaz and Numby’s Follow-Up Attacks are a great way to trigger Luocha’s Field and heal the whole team by a considerable amount. Luocha’s own damage output isn’t too bad, either, and his ability to strip buffs off the enemy is superb in the endgame.

SP Heavy Buffer, Yukong

SP Heavy Buffer, Yukong

The first support for Topaz we’ll mention is Bronya, easily one of the best Harmony characters in the entire game. Bronya’s Skill lets her Advance Forward any character by 100%, giving them an additional turn with an ATK Bonus, something Topaz can really take advantage of. If that wasn’t all, her Ultimate increases ATK and CRIT DMG, further improving Topaz’s damage potential with a single button press.

Yukong is an excellent buffer in HSR with two glaring downsides which stops her from being effective in most team comps. With her Skill and Ultimate, Yukong can grant the entire team a substantial ATK and CRIT DMG bonus, but the strict timing on these buffs as well as Yukong’s heavy reliance on Skill Peally hurts her. Well, in this team, that is far less of an issue and Yukong really shine alongside Topaz. After using her Skill to apply Proof of Debt, Topaz can kick back and just use Basic ATKs to fuel Numby, freeing up Skill Points for the rest of the team and allowing Yukong to go wild without limiting herself. You’ll still need to be careful of timing with Yukong but this composition makes her much more effective and approachable.

Topaz Main DPS Carry Premium Team

Topaz Main DPS Carry Premium Team

F2P Topaz Team

Finally, here’s the best F2P team comp for Topaz and Numby. Because of a lack of powerful Follow-Up Attackers in the F2P portion of the game (you’re only real options are March and Herta), we’ll be recommending a F2P version of Topaz’s hyper-carry team. While it does lack the punch and protection of both Bronya and Luocha, the characters replacing them are more than enough to make this team strong and efficient.

For Topaz’s best F2P team, we recommend running her with Asta, Yukong and Natasha

Speed and ATK Buffer, Asta

Speed and ATK Buffer, Asta

We’ve already discussed Asta and Yukong at length and they will serve the exact same roles here. Asta’s ability to buff both ATK and SPD makes her an invaluable asset to Topaz, whereas Yukong’s own ATK and CRIT DMG buffs are equally as impactful. With both of them working together, you will have near-constant uptime on a substantial ATK increase for the entire team as well as CRIT DMG and SPD buffs tied to their Ultimates. These two are some of the best buffers in all of HSR, even as F2P units, and they work excellently in this Topaz team.

Lastly, we have Natasha, who is our main replacement for Luocha and the team’s healer. As the only F2P Abundance unit currently in the game, Natasha is almost always a mainstay on free-to-play teams, which is why it’s a good thing that she’s so strong. Natasha’s Skill and Ultimate do more than healing to keep the entire team shipshape. Additionally, Natasha is an excellent SP battery when her allies don’t need healing, giving Skill Point-hungry units like Yukong more to work with.
