Robin Release Date and Banner Availability

First and foremost, before we have a look at Robin herself, let’s go over when she’s available and how long her banner is going to stick around. Robin is one of two new limited 5-stars joining Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2, with the other being the cybernetic cowboy Boothill.

Robin is heading up the first phase of Version 2.2 which begins on May 8th 2024 and her Unique Character Warp, “Just Intonation”, will run until May 29th 2024. If you end up pulling on the Just Intonation Banner and end up lucky enough to roll a 5-star unit, there will be a 50% chance that the character ends up being Robin. During this same window of time, one of Robin’s best teammates, Topaz, will also have her own limited Event Warp, with both banners sharing Xueyi, Hanya and March 7th as rate-up 4-star units.

Once Robin’s banner leaves on May 29th, she will be unavailable until the next time her banner gets a rerun. As for when she will come back around, Star Rail seems to rerun characters about 6 to 9 months after their initial banner run, at least as of version 2.2. Even so, if you want to hear Robin’s angelic tunes whenever you want, be sure to pull on her in 2.2.

Robin Materials

  • 15x Dream Collection Component / 15x Dream Flow Valve / 15x Dream Making Engine (Penacony Enemy Drops)
  • 65x IPC Work Permit (Stagnant Shadow Material)
  • 308k Credits

The first set of materials Robin needs to ascend in Honkai: Star Rail is the Dream series of enemy drops from Penacony. These funky little gizmos have a chance to drop whenever you defeat a member of the Dreamjolt Troupe in the Dreamscape, with their numbers including everyone from the mechanical chef dinosaur to Soulcal gorillas and the Energy-draining TVs. The main place where these enemies will pop up is hostile areas of the Dreamscape such as Dream’s Edge but, if you’d prefer to infinitely farm these drops you can visit World 9 of the Simulated Universe, instead.

When it comes to Robin’s required Stagnant Shadow drop, she needs the IPC Work Permit, a new Stagnant Shadow material introduced in Version 2.2 for Physical characters. You’ll find this new Stagant Shadow inside the Clock Studios Theme Park.

The last materials that need mentioning for Robin are her Trace materials. Penacony has introduced a new Crimson Calyx for Harmony units in 2.2 which Robin will need to farm for her Trace materials. The specific materials she’s on the hunt for are the Firmament Note, Celestial Section, and Heavenly Melody drops. Furthermore, to unlock her major Traces and reach the higher levels of her core Traces, you’ll need to get your hands on 12 Past Evils of the Borehole Disaster from the Echo of War Boss

Robin Kit Overview

Wingflip White Noise (Basic ATK)

Robin’s Basic ATK, Wingflip White Noise, deals minor Physical DMG to a single enemy target.

And that’s all there is to this part of her kit. Harmony units aren’t well known for the high Basic ATK DMG or their reliance on offensive abilities, making Robin’s Basic ATK kind of pointless. The only time you’d ever use it is to either save Skill Points for your other team members or because you have no Skill Points: in any other situation, her Skill is the priority and the bedrock of her entire kit.

Organic Beauty

Organic Beauty

Pinion’s Aria (Skill)

Pinion’s Aria, Robin’s Skill, is where things start to get a bit more interesting. This is a more traditional Harmony ability where Robin buffs her teammates. When cast, Robin increases the DMG of all her allies for 3 turns.

This Skill is already a powerful boost as it buffs all DMG, not just ATK, but what makes it even more potent is that it buffs everyone. Unlike Bronya or Sparkle, Robin will be able to buff everyone in your composition with just her Skill, greatly benefitting double DPS team compositions such as Dr. Numby (Dr. Ratio + Topaz). Even outside of those teams, though, just having a character who can essentially Tingyun Skill your entire team for 3 turns is incredibly strong and one of Robin’s best supportive abilities.

Spread Your Wings

Spread Your Wings

Vox Harmonique, Opus Cosmique (Ultimate)

If her Skill wasn’t enough to make you pull her, then Robin’s Ultimate, the long-winded Vox Harmonique, Opus Cosmique, may just do the trick. Robin will enter the Concerto state, immediately Advance Forwarding all allies by 100% and causing them to act again immediately. Furthermore, while Robin is in the Concerto state, all allies have increased ATK and she will deal additional Physical DMG after every attack, with each having a fixed CRIT Rate of 100% and a fixed CRIT DMG of 150%.

If that wasn’t all, Robin is also immune to all forms of Crowd Control debuffs while in the Concerto state (meaning that she can’t be Frozen, Imprisoned, Entangled, etc.). The main downside to the Concerto state is that Robin cannot act or use her Actions (Basic ATK or Skill) until the Concerto state ends but hey, at least you’ll get to hear Robin’s singing as a trade-off.

Robin’s Ultimate reigns proud as one of the best Harmony Ults in Honkai Star Rail, which is already a packed category as it isVox Harmonique, Opus Cosmique is essentially a team-wide Bronya Skill which adds extra damage to each attack and boosts the ATK of all units, once again greatly benefitting double DPS and especially benefiting Follow-Up Attackers who can do multiple attacks during Robin’s Concerto state. If you want to make the most of this ability, though, you’ll have to efficiently SPD-tune Robin compared to your other team members.

Tonal Resonance (Talent)

The Robin extravaganza isn’t over yet as her Talent, Tonal Resonance, is also crazy. Her Talent passively increases the CRIT DMG of all allies by up to 20% at Trace Level 10 while also regenerating 2 Energy for herself whenever an ally attacks an enemy target

CRIT DMG is one of the hardest stats to efficiently farm in Honkai: Star Rail and Robin essentially allows you to not worry about it as much while she’s in a team. This is a massive benefit to certain CRIT-scaling units like Dr. Ratio, who will likely also get to greatly benefit from Robin’s smorgasbord of other buffs and bonuses. Additionally, the extra Energy just means that she’ll be getting her Ultimate back at a rapid especially, especially in a team with either high SPD or a lot of attacks per turn such as a FUA composition.

Prepare for a Melody

Prepare for a Melody

Overture of Inebriation (Technique)

Lastly, Robin’s Technique, Overture of Inebriation, is a cute call-back to her position as a famous singer. After consuming 1 Technique Point, Robin will create a special dimension around her that lasts for 15 seconds. During that time, enemies within that field will not attack Robin and, upon entering battle, Robin will regenerate 5 Energy per round.

Robin’s Technique follows in the footsteps of Acheron by having an effect which persists into the fight instead of just taking effect on the first turn or the first wave of enemies. As such, it’s one of the best Techniques in the game, especially for grouping up enemies so that you can take them out more efficiently. It’s also going to be great for prolonged game modes like Memory of Chaos or Pure Fiction.

Robin’s Traces and Passive Abilities

Next, let’s take a look at Robin’s Trace Tree and the Passive Traces she can unlock. Robin’s Traces mainly aim to improve her consistency and ease of use, especially in how often she gets her Ultimate. As for her minor Traces, they all give useful stat boosts for a supporter, with both survivability and SPD bonuses which will help her get into the fight far quicker and survive for far longer.

If you’re able to unlock all of Robin’s minor Traces, she’ll receive the following stat bonuses:

  • 28% ATK Bonys
  • 18% HP Bonus
  • 5 SPD Bonus
Flying High

Flying High

Robin’s first Trace, Coloratura Cadenza, unlocks at Character Ascension 2 and it immediately Advance Forwards Robin’s first action by 25% when she enters combat. This is a similar Trace to one seen on other Harmony supports like Tingyun and it’s a nice, if overall inconsequential, general buff to her abilities. It allows her to apply her Skill and buffs far earlier without needing to heavily invest in SPD.

Her second Trace, Impromptu Flourish, increases the CRIT DMG of allied Follow-Up Attacks by 25% when Robin is in the Concerto state. This is on top of the 20% CRIT DMG from her Talent, allowing her to give any Follow-Up Attacker upwards of 45% extra CRIT while she’s in her Ultimate, which is almost equivalent to a CRIT DMG main stat. This just further pushes Robin into being the best-in-slot support for FUA team compositions, especially those which rely on dual DPS.

Finally, her third Trace is Sequential Passage and it additionally regenerates 5 Energy for Robin whenever she uses her Skill. This is a simple and sweet buff to Robin’s Ultimate gains, allowing her to reach the Concerto state far easier and more consistently.

Overall, Robin’s Traces aren’t anything groundbreaking (aside from the extra FUA CRIT DMG) but they are excellent utility tools in improving her viability and potency as a Harmony support. With extra ways to earn back Energy and a boost to her Action Value during the first round of combat, Robin will be able to get her Ultimate quickly and efficiently while buffing everyone at the start of battle.

Robin Trace Priority

  1. Vox Harmonique, Opus Cosmique (Ultimate)
  2. Tonal Resonance (Talent)
  3. Pinion’s Aria (Skill)
  4. Wingflip White Noise (Basic ATK)

Choosing Robin’s highest priority Trace is tricky because she provides so much value with practically every part of her kit. However, due to how powerful it is and how much better it gets after a significant amount of investment, we recommend focusing primarily on her Ultimate. Not only does it provide several powerful bonuses – all of which get a moderate increase with each Talent level – but it’s also the main staple of her kit and something you want to be consistently powerful and effective.

When it comes to her Skill and her Talent, they’re both incredibly useful and very worthy of investment. Although, because her Talent’s CRIT DMG Bonus begins at a measly 5%, we recommend focusing on raising that first and foremost so you can reach the much more attractive 15% to 20% bonus Robin grants at higher levels. Meanwhile, even at level 1, her Skill increases all ally DMG by 25%, which is a considerable amount. Don’t neglect either of these abilities, though, as they’re both vital parts of keeping Robin feeling powerful and consistent.

And then, in last place is Robin’s Basic ATK which is effectively useless when looking at her wider kit. It doesn’t synergise with any of her Traces and passive abilities, it doesn’t do a lot of damage, and it cannot even benefit from her Ultimate buffs as Robin cannot take any Actions while she’s in the Concerto state. Simply put, ignore her Basic ATK and don’t waste resources on it unless you’re planning on crowning her.

Robin, Cosmic Songstress

Robin Eidolons

If you’re lucky enough to pull multiple Robins while her Character Event Warp is active, you’ll come away with one of Robin’s Eidolons. These are powerful bonuses and upgrades to her base kit which drastically improve her performance and support capabilities. Robin’s Eidolons are especially strong for a Harmony support so, if you want to devote everything to this Halovian superstar, be sure to get as many Robins as you can before her banner leaves on May 29th.

  1. Land of Smiles: While the Concerto state is active, all allies’ All-Type RES PEN increases by 24%.
  2. Afternoon Tea for Two: While the Concerto state is active, all allies’ SPD increases by 16%. Furthermore, her Talent’s Energy Regeneration effect additionally increases by 1.
  3. Inverted Tuning: Skill Lv. +2 and Ultimate Lv. +2.
  4. Raindrop Key: When using the Ultimate, dispels Crowd Control debuffs from all allies. While Robin is in the Concerto state, increases the Effect RES of all allies by 50%.
  5. Lonestar’s Lament: Basic ATK Lv. +1 and Talent Lv. +2.
  6. Moonless Midnight: While the Concerto state is active, the CRIT DMG for Robin’s Additional Physical DMG caused by the Ultimate increases by 450%. The effect of Moonless Midnight can trigger up to 8 times. The trigger count resets each time the Ultimate is used.

Robin’s Eidolons, like the rest of her kit, are stacked. Her E1 takes her down the Ruan Mei root by giving her some additional RES PEN capabilities whereas her E2 allows her to buff all allies’ SPD and get her Ultimate back faster. Meanwhile, her E4 gives her Ultimate a team-wide Cleanse, something even Abundance units don’t have easy access to.

Robin’s Best Light Cones

Best in Slot: Flowing Nightglow (Harmony)

Robin’s best in slot Harmony Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail is Flowing Nightglow, her signature Light Cone. This 5-star Light Cone is available on the Light Cone Event Warp while Robin’s banner, Just Intonation, is active. As for why it’s so good, it improves her ability to reach the Concerto state and rewards her with additional damage and utility once she triggers her Ultimate.

At level 80, Flowing Nightglow provides the wielder 953 HP,  635 ATK, and 463 DEF alongside the Pacify Affix. Every time an ally attacks, the wielder will receive one stack of Cantillation, with each stack increasing its Energy Regeneration Rate by 3% up to 5 times. Whenever they use their Ultimate, all Cantillation stacks will be removed and replaced by the Cadenza effect which increases the wearer’s ATK by 48% and all allies’ DMG by 24% for one turn.

As we just mentioned, Robin’s Ultimate is her most important and powerful ability and this Light Cone just makes it so that she can regenerate Energy faster (and on other allies’ turns) and have super high uptime on the Concerto state. Furthermore, the ATK boost will greatly improve her ATK and DMG buffs for her allies, resulting in even more damage. Simply put, this is just a great Light Cone for any Harmony unit and Robin can fully extract all of its benefits for herself.

Flowing Nightglow Light Cone

Flowing Nightglow Light Cone

Best Replacement Robin Light Cones

But what if you can’t get your hands on Flowing Nightglow? Are you doomed to a life of pathetic Robin performance? Of course not as the Harmony Path has a bunch of great low-investment Light Cones for Trailblazers to use if they’re out of Stellar Jades or saving for a future unit like Firefly or Jade.

We will mention right out of the gate that we aren’t going to mention any limited 5-star Harmony Light Cones on this list. Not only are they much rarer than 4-star gacha Light Cones or even standard 5-star Light Cones but they’re all extremely good and will see a decent amount of play on Robin regardless.

If you need a replacement Light Cone for Robin in Honkai: Star Rail, we recommend running But the Battle Isn’t Over, Dreamville Adventure, or For Tomorrow’s Journey

But the Battle Isn't Over

But the Battle Isn’t Over

But the Battle Isn’t Over is Bronya’s signature Light Cone and the only 5-star LC on this list. This is because you can obtain it, as well as any other standard 5-star Light Cone, from the Shop for 600 Undying Starlight. Bronya’s Light Cone is great for keeping buff uptime high as it gives you a chance to refund Skill Points whenever you pop your Ultimate. Furthermore, it increases Energy Regeneration Rate, which is excellent for Robin, and boosts the damage of character who goes after the wearer when they use a Skill. Overall, it’s a very powerful Light Cone which works very well on Robin.

Dreamville Adventure is a new 4-star Harmony Light Cone which players can pick up from the Memory of Chaos shop. It’s an interesting Light Cone which boosts the damage of all allies based on what ability the wearer uses: if they use a Skill, all allies gain additional Skill DMG. When it comes to Robin, this is superb in certain team compositions. Because her Ultimate has her not act for three turns, you can guarantee a massive Ultimate DMG buff for those three turns on top of Robin’s unique buffs, massively boosting the damage of units like Dr. Ratio, Xueyi or other Ultimate-heavy damage dealers.

Lastly, For Tomorrow’s Journey is a new F2P Light Cone players can pick up from 2.2’s latest event. This LC feels almost made for Robin as an F2P alternative to Flowing Nightglow. Firstly, it boosts the wearer’s ATK, increasing the ATK buff from Robin’s Ultimate. Secondly, it increases their DMG after using their Ultimate, increasing the damage Robin’s bonus Physical hits will do on ally attacks. While it isn’t as supportive as other options, it’s still a great option.

Robin’s Best Relics and Planar Ornaments

Support units in Honkai: Star Rail often have a tricky time trying to figure out what Relic and Planar Ornament sets they should pick. They have to balance stacking stats which increase their support potential with sets that can improve their survivability, as they’re often very weak. Robin is no different and there are multiple Relic combinations to choose from depending on if you want a comfier build or a higher damage build for her.

Firstly, if you’re looking for a standard Harmony setup which improves Robin’s supportive abilities first and foremost, run 2-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat for your Relics and 2-piece Broken Keel. The two Relic sets paired together will give Robin 6% SPD and 12% ATK, respectively, whereas Broken Keel will increase her Effect RES by 10% and increase the CRIT DMG of all allies by 10% if she reaches 30 or more Effect RES.

Robin’s most vital ATK buffs come from her Ultimate and they scale off of her ATK. Additionally, as a support, you want her to act often so that you can have high uptime on your buffs. As such, having additional SPD and ATK are both superb. As for the Effect RES, while Robin is immune to CC while in her Ultimate state, she is still susceptible to them while in her natural state. You want your supports and sustains to be as free from CC as possible, making Effect RES a decent stat to invest into, especially when it means that she can squeeze out another bit of CRIT DMG (increasing her buff to FUA units to a grand 55% buff).

On the other hand, if you’re worried about your Robin’s survivability and want a bit more security for her, consider swapping out the extra SPD from Hackerspace for 2-piece Guard of Wuthering Snow. This will reduce the damage taken by the wearer by 8%.

As we said above, Harmony units are infamously quite squishy, capable of only taking a few hits before falling. For Robin to be an effective buffer, she has to be, well, alive. Investing into some damage mitigation isn’t a terrible idea, especially because you’re still improving her support abilities with the extra ATK and CRIT DMG. However, we only recommend this combination over the first if you aren’t running Robin with a super competent sustain like Aventurine or Luocha.

Robin Relics and Ornaments

Robin Relics and Ornaments

Most Important Main Stats and Sub Stats for Robin

When it comes to finding main stats and sub-stats for Robin, she’s mercifully simple. Her buffs only stack off of ATK and she doesn’t need to run any form of CRIT: in fact, aside from ATK, all you should concern yourself with is boosting her Energy Regeneration. This makes rolling her Relic and Planar Ornament main stats fairly straightforward, at least if you aren’t looking for any DEF or HP pieces to help with survivability.

  • Body: ATK%
  • Boots: ATK% / SPD
  • Sphere: ATK%
  • Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate

Robin’s sub-stats are equally breezy as you’ll also just want to stack as much ATK as possible so her Ultimate’s buffs can be even stronger. On the other hand, extra SPD will help her keep up with other team members and get her Ultimate back at a faster rate whereas DEF and HP sub-stats will help her stay alive. Then there’s also Effect RES to consider if you plan on running her with Broken Keel.

Robin Team Compositions

Robin Follow-Up Attack Team

Robin’s best team composition, bar none, is her premium Follow-Up Attack team. In general, FUA units are Robin’s best pairings because of how often they attack, allowing them to take better advantage of her Ultimate’s bonus Physical DMG and regenerate more Energy for Robin’s Ultimate. And that’s without even mentioning the boatloads of extra free CRIT DMG she gives them.

With that in mind, Robin’s best Follow-Up Attack team composition in Honkai: Star Rail consists of Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, and Topaz, all of whom are FUA units.

Aventurine is the team’s sustain and he’s an Imaginary Preservation unit built around easy and accessible shields, perfect for keeping Robin alive during her performance. Outside of having Star Rail’s best shields, Aventurine also has access to a fairly powerful AoE Follow-Up Attack which is easy to trigger and deals a good amount of damage. He also inflicts a CRIT DMG debuff on enemies using his Ultimate which will combo expertly with Robin’s large amount of CRIT DMG boosts.

Reliable Topaz and Numby

Reliable Topaz and Numby

Dr. Ratio is the primary DPS and the team’s main form of damage alongside Topaz. His ability to consistently and reliably trigger Follow-Up Attacks is great, especially when they’re going to be supercharged by Robin and Aventurine’s various buffs and bonuses. The sheer frequency of attacks he’ll be able to deliver, especially when combined with Aventurine’s debuffs and Topaz’s own FUAs will be absurd, allowing him to take great advantage of Robin.

Lastly, Topaz fills the role of the team’s second DPS and Follow Up Attack support unit. Like Ratio, Topaz’s FUA frequency is stupidly high and she’ll be able to shred through enemies at a great pace with Robin’s ATK and CRIT buffs. Furthermore, her kit will further increase the Follow-Up Attack DMG of Aventurine and Dr. Ratio thanks to her Proof of Debt effect. All of these effects combined mean that this team will almost always be juiced up on a variety of powerful buffs and they’ll constantly be doing high damage Follow Up Attacks.

Robin Follow-Up Attack Team

Robin Follow-Up Attack Team

Robin DoT Team

If you don’t happen to have Ruan Mei, Robin can work well in a damage-over-time team, in part because it’s similar to a Follow-Up Attack team. While a DoT team won’t be able to take advantage of her extra Follow-Up Attack CRIT DMG or attack as often, she still fits in great as a unit that can buff their DMG and ATK, drastically increasing the overall damage of all kinds of DoT effects from Shock to Wind Shear to Burn.

For a DoT-focused Robin build, you’ll want to run her with Kafka, Black Swan, and Huohuo, the best DoT team currently in the game with Ruan Mei subbed out for Robin.

Kafka is a very strong and reliable DoT unit who can consistently apply Shock with all parts of her kit while still having some extra tricks up her sleeve. Not only can she do an FUA after her allies use a Basic ATK (allowing her to take advantage of Robin’s extra CRIT in some small way) but she can also prematurely detonate any DoT effect on an enemy using her Skill, causing them to trigger and deal a ton of damage instantly. Kafka is just a pretty solid main DPS and all the buffs she’ll get from Robin just make her better.

DoT Mistress Kafka

DoT Mistress Kafka

Meanwhile, Black Swan is our second DoT applicator whose unique Arcana debuff will not only improve the damage of Kafka’s Shock but also deal very serious damage in her own right. Furthermore, her Ultimate will cause enemies to take additional DMG from all sources, including DoT. This, combined with Robin’s extra ATK and CRIT buffs, will make this team shine both in terms of instant damage and prolonged damage.

Lastly, Huohuo is our sustain and she’s the best pick for this team thanks to her hybrid Abundance-support playstyle. On the Abundance side, her healing is very consistent and she can Cleanse debuffs to keep everyone active in the fight. On the support side, her Ultimate increases all allies’ ATK, similar to Robin’s, and it grants everyone Ultimate Energy. This is excellent for our DoT DPS and for Robin seeing as all three units rely on their Ults for either high damage, big debuffs or gigantic buffs.

Robin DoT Team

Robin DoT Team

Robin F2P Team

Lastly, let’s quickly go over a free-to-play variant of the Follow-Up Attack team for Robin in Honkai: Star Rail. While there aren’t as many F2P Follow Up Attackers, there are more than a few who will work very well with Robin in an F2P team, especially our main damage dealer.

If you’re looking to put together a F2P team for Robin, run her with Xueyi, Herta, and March 7th

Xueyi is going to be our primary DPS and she’s a surprisingly strong 4-star Destruction unit. Between her ability to reduce Toughness no matter the element to her massive Ultimate damage, Xueyi will benefit greatly from Robin’s ATK and CRIT buffs, especially because she also has access to a Follow-Up Attack which can take advantage of Robin’s extra FUA CRIT.

Mara-Hunter Xueyi

Mara-Hunter Xueyi

Next on the list is Herta and while she isn’t the strongest unit in the world, she can certainly pull her weight, especially when backed up by Robin’s many bonuses and buffs. Alongside Xueyi, whose high damage will quickly and efficiently let Herta trigger her own Follow-Up Attacks, you should see a high amount of damage coming from both of our DPS units thanks to Robin.

Lastly, March is a Preservation unit like Aventurine who has access to both shields and a Follow-Up Attack of her own (although, this is more of a nice bonus than a reliable chunk of extra damage). March’s shield is very reliable and can draw aggro towards or away from certain targets depending on the situation in combat. Her Ultimate is also a great tool for Freezing multiple targets, allowing Herta to deal more damage.
