Honkai Star Rail Jingliu Build Guide Jingliu Best Light Cones, Relics, and Teams

Jingliu is one of the many characters that players are looking forward to, and her presence in Honkai: Star Rail finally looms in closer than before. As Jing Yuan’s master, she once hailed as the Sword Champion of Xianzhou Luofu, but unfortunately, she was Mara-Struck, rendering her susceptible to its destructive effects, resulting in her getting banished and forgotten by the people of Xianzhou. While not as popular as Kafka, her popularity has been through the roof ever since the game’s early days. She finally graces the game in the upcoming Patch 1.4, hailing as the Ice Destruction queen who strikes down her enemies at the expense of her allies.

This guide will help you create the best Jingliu build in Honkai: Star Rail. That includes a closer look into her kit and how it works, what Jingliu’s best Traces are, her best Relics and Light Cones, and her team compositions, both for luxury and free-to-play options. Additionally, since Honkai: Star Rail 1.4 will introduce two characters with different sets of skills, and you’re still uncertain about whether you should go for Jingliu or Topaz, then you can read one of our articles that might help you decide on pulling the Mara-Struck blindfolded blade dancer.

Jingliu Materials

First off, let’s discuss Jingliu’s materials that you must gather to ascend her to Level 80. Here is the list of all things you need:

  • 15x Immortal Scionette / 15x Immortal Aeroblossom / 15x Immortal Lumintwig (Xianzhou Luofu Enemy Drops)
  • 65x Gelid Chitin (Stagnant Shadow Drops)
  • 308,000 Credits

When looking for the Xianzhou Luofu series materials, the Mara-Struck enemies are your best chance of finding them and you can battle these enemies in most areas within the Xianzhou Luofu. Moreover, you will have better consistency in finding the materials when you try battling through Simulated Universe Worlds. Additionally, you can convert low-grade materials into higher grades using the Omni-Synthesizer. Last but not least, you can easily earn a steady stream of Immortal Scionette through Assignments, netting you 20 (+10) pieces each day.

Another crucial material piece that you’ll need is the Stagnant Shadow Drop, the Gelid Chitin. To unlock this Stagnant Shadow, you can find it in the Stargazer Navalia sub-region within Xianzhou Luofu. To earn the materials, you have to spend 30 Trailblaze Power to challenge them, and you will have better drops as your difficulty progresses. While the enemies you will fight here are basic enemies that you encounter early in the Xianzhou Luofu mainline story, you should remain vigilant against the main enemy since he is a tanky summoner.

As for Jingliu’s Traces, you’ll need all three rarities of the Path of Destruction material (Shattered Blade, Lifeless Blade, and Worldbreaker Blade). You’ll also need to fight the newest Echo of War, Phantylia the Undying as Jingliu needs the material, Regret of Infinite Ochema, from the weekly boss. This Echo will unlock after you progress through the Xianzhou Luofu main storyline introduced in Version 1.2.

Jingliu Skill Overview

Jingliu, like all Honkai: Star Rail characters before her, has many tools to help her combat the enemies. From Basic Attack, Technique, to Ultimate, we will take a look at each of them and see what Jingliu is capable of.

Basic Attack: Lucent Moonglow

Starting her kit overview, we’re going to take a look at Jingliu’s Basic Attack, Lucent Moonglow. With this attack, Jingliu deals Ice DMG to a single enemy target.

And that’s it. Unfortunately, you won’t find any unique mechanism within Jingliu’s Basic Attack and shouldn’t expect any special effects like those of Dan Heng IL or Blade. Still, her Basic Attack does its job when you need it the most, and that’s more than enough as Jingliu focuses more on her Talent, Skill, and Ultimate.

Skill: Transcendent Flash

The next part of Jingliu’s kit is her Skill, Transcendent Flash. On paper, this ability is super basic. Like… no interesting quirks or anything important happening here, which is true, because Jingliu only deals Ice DMG equal to 100%  of her ATK to a single enemy target.

However, things get interesting when you look at Jingliu’s second part of the Skill. Whenever Jingliu uses her Skill, she obtains 1 stack of Syzygy. After gaining enough stacks, the skill is enhanced to the Moon on Glacial River form. The enhanced skill deals Ice DMG to adjacent targets and consumes Syzygy stacks instead of Skill Points.

This means that Syzygy is an integral part of Jingliu’s abilities, as that effect upgrades her Skill and transforms Jingliu into a deadlier unit that can deal damage against multiple enemies at once. To gain stacks of Syzygy, players can either use Jingliu’s Skill, Ultimate, or Technique, each netting you 1 stack, for a maximum of 3 stacks.

Ultimate: Florephemeral Dreamflux

Another exciting part of Jingliu’s arsenal of abilities is her Ultimate, Florephemeral Dreamflux. This Ultimate allows Jingliu to deal Ice DMG equal to 180% of Jingliu’s ATK to a single enemy target and deals Ice DMG equal to 90% of Jingliu’s ATK to adjacent targets. Gains 1 stack(s) of Syzygy after the attack ends.

With Florephemeral Dreamflux, Jingliu can target multiple enemies at once, though she can only unleash her maximum damage output to a single main target, while only dealing splash damage to enemies adjacent to the main target. Still, her Ultimate is another way of gaining Syzygy stacks, so you should always try to use her Ultimate without holding back, especially during the Spectral Transmigration state.

Talent: Crescent Transmigration

Jingliu’s Talent, Crescent Transmigration,  is easily the best part of her kit as well as a crucial mechanism for her damage outputs. First thing first, When Jingliu has 2 stack(s) of Syzygy, she enters the Spectral Transmigration state with her Action Advanced by 100% and CRIT Rate increased by 40%. As previously mentioned, Jingliu can easily earn Syzygy through using her Skill, Ultimate, or Talent, making it incredibly easy to trigger Crescent Transmigration.

But that’s not all there is to it. Jingliu’s Skill, Transcendent Flash, is enhanced to Moon on Glacial River, and only this enhanced Skill is available for use in battle. Basically, after Crescent Tranmigration triggers, Jingliu’s Skill property is upgraded, making her attacks during the Spectral Transmigration state to deal damage to multiple enemies at once, and she does not consume any Skill Points during this state, only consuming the Syzygy stacks.

Moreover, during the Spectral Transmigration state, Jingliu consumes HP from all other allies equal to 4% of their respective Max HP, thus increasing her ATK stat substantially. Fear not, as this Talent will not kill any of her allies during a battle, as the effect stops on Jingliu’s allies if their HP reaches 1.

To summarize, Crescent Transmigration makes Jingliu more potent at dealing damage, especially against multiple enemies at once. However, you should look out for the HP-sapping effect, as that can be detrimental to your team if you don’t bring any Healer character.

Technique: Shine of Truth

Last but not least, we have Jingliu’s Technique, Shine of Truth. While it is true that some characters have meager Technique effects that don’t necessarily help during a battle, that is not the case at all for Jingliu. Why? Not only will she Freeze any enemies within her domain for 20 seconds, but she can also gain 1 stack of Syzygy right off the bat before the battle even begins, allowing her to deploy her Talent much faster.

And that’s not all. Jingliu also immediately restores 15 Energy for herself, and she has a 100% base chance of Freezing enemy targets for 1 turn(s). The only drawback of this Talent is that it can’t co-exist with other domain-related Techniques such as Welt’s or Himeko’s. Still, whenever possible, you should always prioritize Jingliu’s Technique thanks to its incredible buffs and head start for her.

Jingliu’s Traces Breakdown

Jingliu’s Traces focuses on giving her more damage-dealing capabilities while also keeping her relatively safe from Status Effects. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll get from Jingliu’s minor Trace trees:

  • 37.3% CRIT DMG Boost ( 5.3 + 5.3 + 8 + 8 + 10.7)
  • 9 SPD Boost (2 + 3 + 4)
  • 10% Max HP Boost (4 + 6)

Following the minor Traces, we will now move on to Jingliu’s Major Traces. The first one is Jingliu’s Ascension 2’s Trace, Deathrealm. While in the Spectral Transmigration state, increases Effect RES by 35%. This Trace is indeed simple, but super effective against pesky enemies that love to attack your characters using Status Effects, giving Jingliu more chance to resist them and continue fighting the enemies without getting controlled.

Moving on to the second Major Trace is the Sword Champion, which you can get after getting Jingliu to the Ascension 4 stage. After using Transcendent Flash, the next action will be Advanced Forward by 10%. This means that Jingliu can act faster in a battle after she unleashes her Skill, something that is super beneficial for a Destruction character such as her.

Lastly, there’s Jingliu’s Ascension 6 Trace, Frost Wraith. While in the Spectral Transmigration state, Ultimate DMG increases by 20%. This Trace makes her Ultimate far deadlier when you use it during her special state, resulting in Jingliu dishing more damage compared to when you use the Ultimate outside the Spectral Transmigration state.

Jingliu Abilities Priority

Now that we are familiar with Jingliu’s Traces and their effects, it’s time to discuss what abilities you should prioritize when building Jingliu to her best potential.

  1. Crescent Transmigration (Talent)
  2. Transcendent Flash (Skill)
  3. Florephemeral Dreamflux (Ultimate)
  4. Lucent Moonglow (Basic ATK)

As previously mentioned, Jingliu’s kit heavily revolves around her Talent. All of her attacking avenues, except for Basic ATK, lead to her Talent’s activation, so you should always prioritize leveling up Crescent Transmigration over other abilities. If that’s not enough reason for you to upgrade her Talent, then you should remember that the Talent also increases Jingliu’s CRIT Rate and ATK bonus, which will help on multiple fronts, particularly if you wish to use Rutilant Arena set for Jingliu.

From there, Jingliu’s Skill has the second-highest priority because this is where Jingliu’s damage mainly comes from. After that, you can put some resources into Jingliu’s Ultimate as upgrading it simply enhances its damage, without adding more ATK-related buffs.

And lastly, the reason why Lucent Moonglow has the lowest priority is simply that it doesn’t do anything but make Jingliu deal minor Ice DMG to an enemy, and ideally, you should never use Jingliu’s Basic ATK and instead focus on gathering Syzygy stacks as fast as possible through her Skill, Ultimate, and Technique.

Jingliu’s Eidolons

Moving on, we will list all of Jingliu’s Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail. Eidolons can be acquired by pulling the same character multiple times from the Event Warp. To get Jingliu’s unique Eidolons, you need to have multiple copies of her from her Character Event Warp, “Gentle Eclipse of the Moon”.

  1. Moon Crashes Tianguan Gate: When using her Ultimate or Enhanced Skill, Jingliu’s CRIT DMG increases by 24% for 1 turn(s). If only one enemy target is attacked, the target will additionally be dealt Ice DMG equal to 100% of Jingliu’s ATK.
  2. Crescent Shadows Qixing Dipper: After using Ultimate, increases the DMG of the next Enhanced Skill by 80%.
  3. Halfmoon Gapes Mercurial Haze: Ultimate Lv. +2 and Talent Lv. +2.
  4. Lunarlance Shines Skyward Dome: During the Spectral Transmigration state, the ATK gained from consuming allies’ HP is additionally increased by 90% of the total HP consumed from the entire team. The cap for ATK gained this way also increases by 30%.
  5. Night Shades Astral Radiance: Skill Lv. +2 and Basic Attack Lv. +1.
  6.  Eclipse Hollows Corporeal Husk: When Jingliu enters the Spectral Transmigration State, the Syzygy stack limit increases by 1, and Jingliu obtains 1 stack(s) of Syzygy. While she is in the Spectral Transmigration state, her CRIT DMG increases by 50%.

The best Eidolon that Jingliu has is her E1, as this enables your Jingliu to be more flexible in terms of stats, as her E1 allows Jingliu to buff her own CRIT DMG. Moreover, her single-target DPS output is also increased if her Ultimate or Enhanced Skill only hits one enemy. Overall, a very strong Eidolon for Jingliu and the perfect spot for those who wish to improve their Jingliu further without spending too much money.

Jingliu’s Best Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail

Best in Slot: I Shall Be My Own Sword

When talking about what would be the best Light Cone for Jingliu, her signature Light Cone, I Shall Be My Own Sword (Path of Destruction), is simply the winner as her best in slot Light Cone. You can try and obtain I Shall Be My Own Sword from the Light Cone Event Warp “Brilliant Fixation”, which is still ongoing in tandem with Jingliu’s Character Event Warp. Since this Light Cone is tailor-made for Jingliu, the effects it has are perfect to complement her DPS potential as the Ice Destruction queen.

At level 80, I Shall Be My Own Sword nets you 1164 HP, 582 ATK, and 396 DEF to the holder. This Light Cone has one main Ability, With This Evening Jade, and there are plenty to break down here. The first part of its Ability increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 20%. Right off the bat, this Light Cone fits Jingliu like a pair of gloves, giving her additional CRIT DMG, which in turn increases her damage output. In addition, the second part is where the fun begins… at least for Jingliu. Every time the wearer’s allies get attacked or lose HP, the wearer will gain 1 stack of Eclipse, up to 3 stacks.  Every stack increases the wearer’s ATK by 14%, and when at full stack, additionally enables that attack to ignore 12% of the enemy’s DEF. This effect will be removed after the wearer uses an attack.

I Shall Be My Own Sword has everything that a Destruction character like Jingliu needs. From the CRIT DMG bonus to the Eclipse effect that allows Jingliu to continuously increase her ATK with the occasional DEF Ignore effect every 3 stacks, means that this Light Cone is definitely the priority for Jingliu.

Best Alternatives for Jingliu’s Light Cones

Even though we’ve explained that I Shall Be My Own Sword is Jingliu’s best Light Cone, you should not worry about her replacement Light Cones. The Ice Destruction queen is pretty flexible when it comes to her Light Cone options, and we will curate some of them as alternatives to I Shall Be My Own Sword.

Before we dive in, it should be worth mentioning that the recommendations will mainly be 4-Star in rarity, though we will include a 5-Star option that is absolutely free-to-play and players can get it easily.

The best replacement Light Cones for Jingliu in Honkai: Star Rail are On the Fall of an Aeon, A Secret Vow, and Under the Blue Sky.

On the Fall of an Aeon Light Cone.

On the Fall of an Aeon Light Cone

Light Cones Breakdown

On the Fall of an Aeon is a free-to-play 5-Star Light Cone option that you can get in Herta’s Store after you earn 8 Herta Bonds, and you can get 1 Herta Bond per week, with additional Bonds available if you complete new difficulties in Simulated Universe. This is one of the most versatile Destruction Light Cones, making it suitable for Jingliu. At level 80, it will give your characters 1058 HP, 529 ATK, and 396 DEF. Paired with its Ability, Moth to Flames, in which the wearer’s ATK is increased by 8% in this battle, up to 4 time(s), and when the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, the wearer’s DMG increases by 12% for 2 turn(s), this Light Cone can improve Jingliu’s ATK throughout a battle.

The next Light Cone is A Secret Vow, another brilliant Destruction Light Cone you can get from any of the game’s various Warp Banners, including the current “Brilliant Fixation”. At level 80, this Light Cone will give your characters 1058 HP, 476 ATK, and 264 DEF. Alongside those juicy stats for a 4-Star Light Cone, A Secret Vow comes with Spare No Effort, which increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 20% and the wearer also deals an extra 20% of DMG to enemies whose current HP percentage is equal to or higher than the wearer’s current HP percentage. More damage is always welcome for Jingliu, and the 40% potential additional DMG from this Light Cone is simply too high to pass up.

Lastly, we have Under the Blue Sky, which is great for Jingliu’s DPS output as its Ability, Rye Under the Sun, will increase the wearer’s ATK by 16%. Moreover, when the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 12% for 3 turn(s).

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Jingliu

Relics are arguably the most versatile part of any Honkai: Star Rail character build, which you can try matching two combinations that you see fit for that character. Moreover, every set has its unique effects and abilities that can shift a character’s potential. For Jingliu, we want to give her a set that allows her to deal high damage consistently throughout a battle.

With that in mind, the best Relic and Planar Ornament set for Jingliu is the 4-piece Hunter of Glacial Forest and the 2-piece Rutilant Arena. Starting with our main Relic set, Hunter of Glacial Forest increases the wearer’s Ice DMG by 10%. Moreover, after the wearer uses their Ultimate, their CRIT DMG increases by 25% for 2 turn(s). Lastly, we have Rutilant Arena, the Planar Ornament set, which increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. In addition, if the wearer’s current CRIT Rate exceeds 70%, then the wearer’s Basic ATK and Skill DMG increases by 20%.

Hunter of Glacial Forest Relic Set.

Hunter of Glacial Forest Relic Set.

Combination Explanations

I will explain why these two Sets are very beneficial and fit for Jingliu’s overall abilities. Starting from the basic stats alone, this combination gives Jingliu substantial damage bonuses (10% Ice DMG + 25% CRIT DMG after unleashing an Ultimate + 8% CRIT Rate + 20% Basic ATK and Skill DMG), granting massive stat boosts for her, as long as you can manage the requirements well, especially the Rutilant Arena’s CRIT Rate minimum number.

The combination of Hunter of Glacial Forest + Rutilant Arena also plays in Jingliu’s inherent strength and Trace bonuses. Since her Traces mainly increase her CRIT DMG, you can focus more on finding the CRIT Rate on your Relics, giving you more freedom in picking out the best pieces for her. Additionally, Jingliu can increase her own CRIT Rate through her Talent, Crescent Transmigration, thus giving you an easier time in trying to find the balance between CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate on your Relics and Planar Ornaments.

Jingliu’s Crucial Stats

Here are the main stats we’re recommending Trailblazers should hunt for if they want their Jingliu to be the best DPS unit she can be:

  • Body: CRIT DMG%
  • Feet: ATK% / SPD
  • Planar Sphere: Ice DMG Bonus
  • Link Rope: ATK%

Meanwhile, here’s what you want to be on the lookout for in terms of Jingliu’s sub-stats:

  1. CRIT DMG
  2. ATK%
  3. SPD
  4. CRIT Rate

Best Teams for Jingliu in Honkai: Star Rail

Jingliu Hypercarry Team

Jingliu can truly shine when she has the right supporting units accompanying her. Those who can either increase her damage output or keep the team’s HP on the healthy line are the best companions to use with Jingliu.

With that in mind, Jingliu’s Hypercarry team includes Bronya, Pela, and Luocha.

Luocha still retains his position as the best healer in the game. The major reason is that his healing is mostly automatic, either from the Cycle of Life Field or from his Skill that triggers whenever an ally falls below 50% HP, which negates Jingliu’s HP consumption mechanic through her Talent’s Syzygy stacks. Additionally, Luocha is the perfect character to generate Skill Points (SP) and Basic ATK usage, so his presence alone can help Jingliu trigger her Talent and Skill far more easily.

With the Healer spot in the team locked in for Luocha, we’re going to talk about the Support characters to help Jingliu. The first one is Pela, arguably the best 4-Star Support for Jingliu thanks to her DEF Reduction debuffs and Ice RES debuffs at Eidolon Level 4. Meanwhile, as for Bronya, she can increase Jingliu’s DMG and provide extra turns to help her enter the Spectral Transmigration state faster.

Bronya, the reliable Supreme Guardian.

Bronya, the reliable Supreme Guardian.

Jingliu Double DPS Team

Another viable option that is super strong and able to maximize Jingliu’s kit is a team composed of another DPS that does not mind Jingliu’s HP-sapping mechanic, but someone that benefits from that.

So, with that in mind, the Jingliu Double DPS Team shall include Blade, Pela, and Luocha.

Why Blade? Simple: He wants to take damage at every chance he can to proc his Follow-up Attacks as soon as possible, and Jingliu’s Talent is one of the easiest avenues to reach that goal. This team composition will take full advantage of Jingliu and Blade’s synergy with each other.

And to support them, Pela and Luocha are simply the go-to characters, as these two not only can heal both Jingliu and Blade effectively (for Luocha) but are also able to give them more damage boosts by inflicting debuff on the enemies (for Pela). And since both Jingliu and Blade cannot generate Skill Points, these two are simply crucial for your team thanks to their Skill Points-friendly nature.

Jingliu, the forsaken Swordmaster.

Jingliu F2P Team

Honkai: Star Rail has many incredible F2P units that synergize well with Jingliu, allowing you to field a team immediately after you pull for her. So you don’t need to worry about having to put Jingliu on hold while searching for her teammates through gacha and other means. With that in mind, the Jingliu F2P Team features Asta, Lynx, and Trailblazer (Fire).

Lynx in this team will replace Luocha’s capacity as the team’s resident Healer. Though her abilities might not be as potent as Luocha’s, she is more than enough to counter Jingliu’s thirst for her allies’ HP. If you don’t have Lynx, then you can use Natasha as the substitute Healer for this team.

Meanwhile, Asta is here as the main Support character thanks to her SPD and ATK buffs. As for the Trailblazer (Fire), they can taunt enemies and provide shields to the party. Overall, this F2P team can help Jingliu unleash her might on the enemies as the supports cover everything that she needs: ATK buffs, healing capacity, and a Taunter to help keep her safe.
