The latter half of version 1.5 of Honkai: Star Rail has brought two new Physical characters to the game. One is the flamboyant 5-star Knight of Beauty Argenti whereas the other is Hanya, a gloomy member of the illusive Ten Lords aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. Hanya is the game’s first 4-star Physical Harmony character and she has a packed kit full of goodies which makes her a great fit for plenty of teams, with particular focus on her ability to regenerate Skill Points. Between that and a host of potent ATK and SPD buffs, Hanya is a great new support unit and someone you’ll definitely want to build when you get your hands on her.
Here’s how to make the best Hanya build in Honkai: Star Rail. This guide will include an in-depth look at Hanya’s kit and Traces as well as a deep dive into her Trace priority, what kind of Relics and Light Cones you should be using on her and what premium or F2P teams Hanya belongs in.

Hanya Ascension Materials
The first thing we need to go over when discussing Hanya’s build in Honkai Star Rail is how you’re going to get her to level 80. Hitting maximum Ascension Level is of the utmost importance when it comes to Star Rail’s endgame as a unit’s most powerful abilities and high-end Trace levels are usually locked behind Ascension Level 6.
When it comes to Hanya, here are the main materials you’ll need to seek out to get her to level 80:
- 12x Artifex’s Module / 13x Artifex’s Cogwheel / 12x Artifex’s Gyreheart (Enemy Drop Material)
- 50x Netherworld Token (Stagnant Shadow Material)
- 246,000 Credits
Beginning with the Artifex series of drops, these materials are the main brunt of Ascension materials. The Artifex series comes in three rarities – the Artifex Modules (Green), the Artifex Cogwheels (Blue), and the Artifex Gyrehearts (Purple) – which all have a chance to drop upon defeating any enemy from the Igenium faction aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. Enemies belonging to the Ignenium faction include the Golden Cloud Toad, the Illumination Dragonfish and the menacing Aurumaton Gatekeeper. You can find large clusters of Ignenium creatures hanging around the Cloudkeep or Alchemy Commission locations on the Luofu but, if you want to infinitely farm these materials, you can visit Worlds 4 to 6 of the Simulated Universe, where Igenium enemies are highly likely to appear.
The other vital material Hanya requires to reach max Ascension is the Netherworld Tokens, a new Stagnant Shadow material introduced in Version 1.5. Netherworld Tokens drop from the Shape of Perdition Stagnant Shadow within Fyxetroll Garden, with higher difficulty versions of the activity dropping up to 5 Tokens per 30 Trailblaze Power. In preparation for your farming, the main boss of the Shape of Perdition is one of the new Aurumaton Special Envoys, a wicked enemy who can inflict your team with the pesky Daze debuff. If you want to deal with this activity as quickly as possible, bring units which can deal Lightning, Imaginary or Physical damage.
Finally, some other important materials related to Hanya’s Traces include the Harmony series of items – specifically the Harmonic Tune, Ancestral Hymn and Stellaris Symphony items. You can obtain these from the Crimson Calyx inside of the Robot Settlement on Belobog. Meanwhile, you’ll also need to stockpile Regret of Infinite Ochema drops from the Phantyllia Echo of War, as Hanya will require these to unlock her Major Traces and reach the final levels of her core Traces.
Honkai Star Rail Hanya Kit and Ability Overview
Oracle Brush (Basic Attack)
The first ability Hanya has access to is her Basic ATK, Oracle Brush. This attack deals minor Physical DMG to a single enemy equal to a percentage of Hanya’s ATK.
Hanya is a support Harmony character who is built to buff your team and make them hit harder. As such, the other parts of her kit, such as her Skill and Ultimate, are the main showstoppers whereas her Basic ATK is just kind of there. It will see a lot of use between Skill casts and it may even do some decent damage considering that ATK is one of Hanya’s best stats but, when looking at her character as a whole, it is easily her least important ability.
Samsara, Locked (Skill)
Hanya’s bread and butter ability is her Skill Samsara, Locked which gives her access to something yet unseen in other Honkai Star Rail character kits: the ability to regenerate Skill Points. When triggered, this Skill deals high Physical DMG to a single enemy and inflicts them with the Burden status. For every two Basic ATKs, Skills or Ultimates allied units use on an enemy with Burden, your team will recover 1 Skill Point. Only one instance of the Burden state can exist at any one time and it will be automatically dispelled after 2 Skill Points are recovered.
Up to this point, the only way to manually regen Skill Points was from select Simulated Universe Blessings or the 4-piece set bonus on the Passing Cloud Relic set, with both of these methods being extremely restrictive in one way or another. With Hanya, though, players now have a character who can help alleviate the high Skill Point costs of certain team compositions, allowing them to become more reliable without sacrificing utility or damage.
Additionally, the Burden effect is core to a lot of Hanya’s other abilities – namely her Talent and Traces – and you’ll feel its many benefits in any kind of team composition: even in low SP cost teams, the ability to spam Skills every single turn will make fights across the entire game much easier. Hanya’s kit is already stacked without this feature but with it, she quickly ascended the ranks of Harmony units in HSR.
Ten-Lords’ Decree, All Shall Obey (Ultimate)
Next up is Ten-Lords’ Decree, All Shall Obey which is Hanya’s Ultimate. This ability is likely the most eye-catching piece of Hanya’s kit, especially when compared to other Harmony units. When used, Hanya will target one of her allies, increasing their SPD and ATK for 2 turns. The amount of SPD the ally received is based on Hanya’s SPD stat.
In essence, Hanya’s Ultimate is a super-charged Tingyun buff: it supercharges a single ally, likely your main DPS, by drastically boosting their damage and SPD, allowing them to hit harder and more often. Of course, Tingyun’s buff lasts longer and is more readily available as a Skill, but that doesn’t take away from the sheer potency of the mixture Hanya conjures with this Ultimate, especially when you consider the other pieces of utility in her kit.
By pairing the ability to buff two of the most important stats in the game with a way to consistently get back Skill Points and increase incoming damage, Hanya easily becomes a top-tier Harmony unit, even with steep competition, and her Ultimate is a massive reason for that. If you’re able to consistently get Hanya’s Ultimate up and running with high amounts of Energy Recharge, you’ll be nigh unstoppable.
Sanction (Talent)
Probably the most important part of Hanya’s kit is her Talent – Sanction – as it’s the most consistent way you’ll be getting value out of her as a support. The effect of Sanction is actually really straightforward: allies deal more damage with their Basic ATKs, Skills and Ultimates to any enemy inflicted with Burden.
While Hanya’s cocktail of buffs in her Ultimate is the most instantly appealing aspect of her kit, this significant damage boost from the Burdened state is her main and most consistent source of utility. While Hanya is in a team, it’s going to be hard to avoid having the Burden state on at least one target and Sanction simply makes your entire team do more damage without needing to put in any extra work. Simply put, it’s free damage.
One thing to note about Sanction’s damage bonus is that it may exclude DoT (damage over time effects) as they don’t tend to classify as Basic ATK, Skill or Ultimate damage. In those situations, another Harmony unit such as Tingyun is going to be far more useful. To most other main carries, though, the damage bonus Hanya provides for free, alongside the constant Skill Points, is more than enough reason to use her as your primary support.
Netherworld Judgement (Technique)
Lastly, we have Netherworld Judgement, which is Hanya’s Technique. After consuming one Technique Point, Hanya will attack a nearby enemy. Upon entering battle, she will then immediately inflict a random enemy with the Burden status equivalent to that applied by her Skill.
This is a nice bonus to start a battle, especially because it allows you to use the Skills of all four party members thanks to the extra Skill Point you’ll get from triggering Burden, but it is held back slightly by its instant attack nature. If you’re running Hanya with a main DPS who also has an offensive Technique, you’ll only be able to choose one of them to start a battle with. Compare this to other supports, especially Harmony ones, who usually have enhancement Techniques which work excellently alongside most main damage dealers. While not a huge deal, it is something you need to consider when drawing up team compositions for Hanya.
Hanya’s Traces
The other major part of a character’s kit in Star Rail is their Trace tree. Not only is this where you can level up and invest into that unit’s core set of skills but it’s also where you can additional passive effects from their Major Traces as well as potent stat boosts from their minor ones.
Before we dive into the Major Traces, here are all the stat boosts you can get from the Minor Traces on Hanya’s tree:
- 28% ATK Boost
- 9 SPD Boost
- 10% HP Boost
As for Hanya’s major Traces, her first is Scrivener, which she unlocks at Character Ascension 2. Whenever an ally triggers the Skill Point recovery effect of Burden, their ATK increases by 10% for 1 turn. This gives Hanya an easy way to buff her teammate’s ATK outside of her Ultimate while also being yet another feature added to the already stacked Burden mechanic.
Then there’s Netherworld, Hanya’s Character Ascension 4 Trace. If the trigger count for Burden’s Skill Point recovery effect is 1 or lower when an enemy under the Burden effect is defeated, you’ll gain 1 additional Skill Point. While a bit more niche than a general ATK or SPD buffs, more Skill Points means more Skills which, generally, means easier battles, especially if you pair Hanya with an SP glutton like Dan Heng IL or Qingque.
Finally, Reanimated is unlocked when Hanya hits Ascension level 6. Whenever Burden’s Skill Point recovery effect is triggered, Hanya will regenerate 2 Energy. Hanya’s Ultimate is the source of her strongest individual buffs and more ways to get easy Energy will allow you to grant those buffs at a more consistent pace. As such, this is very good Trace, especially if you’re in an SP-hungry team.
Overall, Hanya’s major Traces either improve the effects of Burden in one way or another or give her some additional utility which only improves her already impressive support credentials. Of the three, Scrivener and Reanimated are going to be the most consistently useful, giving Hanya an ATK buff outside of her Ultimate and an easy way to get that Ultimate, respectively. Meanwhile, Netherworld is a bit more situational but will prove useful for ensuring that you can always get off Skills when you need them.
Hanya Trace Priority in Honkai Star Rail
- Sanction (Talent)
- Ten-Lords’ Decree, All Shall Obey (Ultimate)
- Samsara, Locked (Skill)
- Oracle Brush (Basic ATK)
The highest priority ability for Hanya is her Talent. Burden is a status you’ll want to have active at all times so having the damage boost attached to Burden as strong as possible just makes sense. Additionally, compared to the buffs gained from her Skill or Ultimate, the damage boost from Sanction is the buff you’ll be interacting the most with consistently, adding another reason why it stands at the top of the investment hierarchy.
After that is Ten-Lords’ Decree, All Shall Obey because of the sheer potency of the buffs it provides. While it does require Energy to activate, meaning that it won’t always be available, the benefits and strengths from the ATK and SPD boosts are simply too good to ignore, especially if you put Hanya in a team where she can get consistent Energy gains. The higher the investment, the higher the ATK and SPD buffs Hanya can provide via her Ultimate will be, making it a surefire pick for your Trace materials.
As for why Hanya’s Skill is so low priority despite it being the main unique selling point of her kit, investing in it doesn’t help her support capabilities. Instead, levelling up Samsara, Locked simply raises the initial damage it deals. While more damage is always going to be nice, the main benefits of Hanya’s Skill are that it allows you to manually regenerate Skill Points – which works exactly the same at level 1 or level 10 – and that it increases damage taken to any enemies with Burdened – which needs Talent investment to increase. As such, levelling her Skill shouldn’t be a priority, even if you end up using it often.
Hanya’s Eidolons
Next up, let’s go over all of Hanya’s Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail. Eidolons are earned when you pull multiple duplicate copies of a single character – in this case Hanya – with each Eidolon providing a unique bonus or effect, usually as an enhancement to the character’s already existing kit.
Compared to 5-star characters, Hanya’s Eidolons are far easier to obtain thanks to her status as a 4-star, which means she has a chance of appearing on any Warp. However, if you want the best possible odds of getting Eidolons for Hanya, we recommend pulling on Warp banners where she is one of the rate-up 4 stars, such as the Argenti and Silver Wolf banners in the latter half of 1.5.
- One Heart: When an ally with Hanya’s Ultimate effect defeats an enemy, Hanya’s action is Advanced Forward by 15%. This effect can only be triggered 1 time per turn.
- Two Views: After using her Skill, Hanya’s SPD increases by 20% for 1 turn.
- Three Temptations: Skill Lv. +2 and Basic ATK Lv. +1
- Four Truths: The Ultimate’s duration is additionally extended for 1 turn.
- Five Skandhas: Ultimate Lv. +2 and Talent Lv. +2.
- Six Reverences: Increases the DMG Boost effect of the Talent by an additional 10%.
At E6, Hanya becomes one of the best supports in the entire game. Specifically, her E6 is a significant damage boost that drastically improves Hanya’s viability whereas her E1 and E4 help to refine her Ultimate into one of Star Rail’s strongest buffs.
Best Light Cones for Hanya in Honkai Star Rail
Hanya’s Best in Slot Light Cone: But the Battle Isn’t Over
As a 4-star without her own signature Light Cone, nailing down a best-in-slot pick for Hanya is slightly harder than for other characters in Honkai: Star Rail. However, if we had to pick from the roster of 5-star Harmony Light Cones, Hanya’s best Light Cone is Bronya’s signature LC, But the Battle Isn’t Over. You have a chance of obtaining Bronya’s Light Cone whenever you fail a 50/50 on either the Light Cone or Standard Warp or, if you’re rich in Undying Starlight, you can purchase a copy directly from the Store.
At level 80, But the Battle Isn’t Over will give the wearer 1164 HP, 529 ATK and 463 DEF along with the main ability, Heir. This increases the wearer’s Energy Recharge rate by 10% and regenerates 1 Skill Point whenever they use their Ultimate on an ally. Additionally, the next all taking a turn after the wearer uses their Skill will gain a 30% damage boost.
While the Light Cone’s effects are built to support Bronya’s unique suite of abilities, they do greatly benefit Hanya’s as well. The addition of recovering Skill Points on the Ultimate cast marries well with Hanya’s already existing kit, allowing her to become a Skill Point-generating menace no matter what ability she’s using. Additionally, as a character who has a large focus on SPD, Hanya will almost certainly be the fastest member of your team, allowing one of your other characters to more easily take advantage of that 30% extra DMG bonus.
Best Replacement Light Cones for Hanya
Not every Trailblazer is going to have easy access to a 5-star Harmony Light Cone like But the Battle Isn’t Over: in fact, most players will likely not have a single 5-star LC and will have to resort to the lower tier, 4-star options for their Hanya. Fortunately, the array of lower-tier Harmony Light Cones is just as capable as the higher rarities, allowing you to outfit your Hanya with some truly spectacular support abilities.
With that in mind, we’re going to preface this by saying that all recommendations are 4-star in nature. As of Hanya’s release, Bronya is the only 5-star Harmony character, meaning that But the Battle Isn’t Over is the only 5-star Harmony Light Cone. However, if you’re lucky enough to come into any future Harmony LCs when they roll out, give them a spin on Hanya to see if they work for her playstyle as 5-star Light Cones usually have more impactful stat bonuses and main passive effects.
Without further ado, the best 4-star Light Cones for Hanya in Honkai Star Rail include Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds, Memories of the Past and Dance! Dance! Dance!
Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds is one of the strongest Harmony Light Cones in all of HSR, largely because of the number of buffs it can provide and how strong those buffs can be. You can get this Light Cone by hitting level 30 on the premium Nameless Honour track. At level 80, Carve the Moon will give the wearer 952 HP, 476 ATK and 330 DEF. Secret is the main effect on this LC. At the start of battle and whenever the wearer’s turn begins, one of the following effects is randomly applied: all allies’ ATK is increased by 10%, all allies’ CRIT DMG is increased by 10% or all allies’ Energy Regeneration Rate increases by 6%. No matter what effect pops up, they’re all extremely beneficial.
Next on the list is Memories of the Past, a Light Cone which comes exclusively from Warping. At level 80. Memories will give the wearer 952 HP, 423 ATK and 396 DEF along with access to the Old Photo ability. This increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 28% and regenerates 4 Energy whenever the wearer attacks an opponent. Hanya’s Skill deals Physical DMG, meaning that this Light Cone will give her additional Energy gains on top of those seen in her Ascension 6 Trace. More Energy means more Ultimates which means more buffs – win, win, win.
Lastly, Dance! Dance! Dance! is another Warp-exclusive Light Cone which gives the wearer 952 HP, 423 ATK and 396 DEF. The Cannot Stop It! effect Advance Forwards the actions of all allies whenever the wearer uses their Ultimate. This Light Cone gives Hanya the ability to Advance Forward her allies without losing access to her SPD or ATK buffs, allowing her to become a true jack-of-all-trades, giving out extra turns like crazy.
Hanya’s Best Relic and Planar Ornament Sets
Light Cone and team choice are very important parts of building a character in HSR but the most vital decisions you can make build-wise are from your Relic and Planar Ornament choices. When it comes to Hanya’s build, we want to either improve her already excellent support abilities or give her additional utility in the form of buffs outside of SPD or ATK.
The best Relic and Planar Ornament combinations for Hanya in Honkai: Star Rail is a full 4-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace set alongside a 2-piece Broken Keel. With four pieces of Hackerspace, Hanya will gain 6% additional SPD at base and will provide the entire team with 12% additional SPD for 1 turn whenever she uses her Ultimate on an ally. Meanwhile, Broken Keel is an Effect RES set which increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10% and will increase the CRIT DMG of the entire team by 10% if the wearer can reach 30% total Effect RES.
What makes this combination so good for Hanya is that it allows her to double down on her supportive capabilities in multiple ways. On one hand, the higher Hanya’s SPD stat is the more SPD she’ll grant her allies from her Ultimate, meaning that the additional SPD from Hackerspace directly improves some of her key buffs. Additionally, more SPD means that Hanya will get to act more often, ensuring that you’re going to have high uptime on Burden.
On the other hand, Broken Keel is one of the best Planar Ornament sets in the game for support units. The CRIT DMG bonus is obviously the end goal as it will give Hanya yet another bit of utility for the team but Effect RES is already a very good stat in general: you don’t want your supports to get caught in a Crowd Control debuff and die prematurely and high Effect RES ensures that this will be less likely to occur. With Broken Heel and Hackerspace to put together, Hanya can become an even stronger support than she already is.
Most Important Main Stats and Substats for Hanya in HSR
Now that we’ve discussed which Relic and Planar Ornament sets you need to hunt for your Hanya build, let’s go over what main and substats those pieces need. While the overall set bonus can be extremely impactful, the stat increases on the individual Relics do much of the legwork when it comes to improving your character’s capabilities. Firstly, here are the main stats you should be on the lookout for when it comes to building Hanya’s Relics:
- Body: ATK%
- Feet: SPD
- Planar Sphere: ATK%
- Link Rope: Energy Recharge Rate
Secondly, here is a list of the four most important substats that Hanya needs, including how important they are to her. Substats are a lot harder to manage than main stats but, if you can get your hands on at least a few of these on your Relics, your Hanya can become a true monster on the battlefield:
- SPD
- ATK%
- Energy Recharge Rate
- Effect RES
Best Teams for Hanya in Honkai Star Rail
Premium Hanya Team
In all honesty, outside of DoT-heavy teams, Hanya can work excellently in almost any team composition. Her wide array of buffs and ability to facilitate constant Skill spam makes her a perfect substitute for other Harmony characters. However, Hanya works better with some characters than others, with Hanya’s unique set of skills allowing her to offset a lot of the baggage that certain units have, allowing them to become ridiculously good.
With our premium Hanya team, we want a main damage dealer who will greatly benefit from Hanya’s ATK, SPD and DMG bonuses while also being quite Skill Point hungry, as that will allow her to fulfil her role to the fullest. As such, the best premium team Hanya can be a part of in Honkai Star Rail includes the likes of Huohuo, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae and Bronya.
Starting our explanation with the simplest member of the team, we have Huohuo. As one of Star Rail’s best healers, there isn’t much to say about Huohuo that hasn’t already been mentioned: aside from being an excellent and consistent healer who can restore HP off turn, Huohuo has incredible Energy Regeneration abilities and a cleanse which come in clutch in many situations. In this team, specifically, Huohuo’s Ultimate will allow Hanya and Dan Heng IL to get their Ultimates back at a much faster pace, as well as empowering them with additional damage. Alongside Hanya’s powerful buffs, this pair of Xianzhou Lords make for a superb set of buffers.
One of the main reasons why we’ve chosen Dan Heng IL for this team is because of his playstyle and how it greatly benefits from Hanya’s ability to regenerate Skill Points. Dan Heng IL is supremely powerful, thanks in large part to his ability to consume up to 3 Skill Points per round to enhance his Skill. This, predictably, leaves most of his compositions extremely tight in terms of SP, which is where Hanya comes in. Not only can Hanya provide him with some excellent SPD and ATK buffs but her constant influx of Skill Points from Burden is enough to ensure that Dan Heng IL is never without the resources he requires to tear up the battlefield.
Lastly, we have a second Harmony unit in Bronya. Under normal circumstances, running Bronya with Dan Heng IL is quite risky on account of how greedy he is for Skill Points: without her Skill, Bronya’s combat prowess goes down dramatically. However, with Hanya at her side, Bronya will be able to consistently use her Skill to Advance Forward Dan Heng IL without fear of running out of Skill Points, letting you make mincemeat of the battlefield, especially when her Ultimate will give him (and the rest of the team) and huge CRIT DMG and ATK boost.
In this team composition, you get to run one of the best healers in the game alongside one of the best main damage dealers and one of the best supports, all thanks to Hanya and her Skill Point recovery.
F2P Hanya Team
The premium team for Hanya is, well, very premium, with all three slots taken up by 5-star units. This is, of course, completely unattainable for some players. If you’re looking to run a similar team to the premium one but lack key characters like Dan Heng IL or Bronya, there is a variant of the team with the same playstyle which is completely F2P, one where Hanya still gets to shine as the leading lady responsible for the carnage you’ll cause.
If that sounds appealing to you, make a team including Qingque, Asta and Natasha to make the best F2P Hanya team in Honkai: Star Rail.
In this composition, Qingque is taking over the role of main DPS from Dan Heng IL. In many ways, these two characters share a lot in common, with the most apparent being that they are ravenous Skill Point gluttons, with Qingque able to consume additional Skill Points to power up her Basic ATK. Unlike Dan Heng, though, Qingque’s enhancement is all luck-based, with more SP meaning more chances at getting lucky. Just like in the premium team, Hanya’s ability to consistently recover Skill Points allows you to go wild with Qingque whereas her Ultimate buffs will only make her a stronger menace to any enemy you come across.
Another similarity with the premium team is that this F2P Hanya composition has two Harmony units, with Asta taking over from Bronya. In some ways, Asta is actually a better fit for Hanya thanks to her SPD buffs: the SPD bonus Hanya gives out via her Ultimate is based on her own SPD stat so, if you buff Hanya’s SPD with Asta’s Ultimate, you will be able to get Qingque to ungodly levels of fast. Additionally, Asta is a superb Fire Breaker and her ATK boost is another meaningful addition to Qingque’s arsenal of destruction.
Finally, Natasha is here as the team’s healer. As Star Rail’s only F2P Abundance character as of 1.5, Natasha certainly gets a workout in most F2P compositions. Fortunately, she’s an excellent healer, capable of keeping your whole team alive with her Skill and Ultimate while also being able to cleanse them of any issues. Another valuable part of Natasha is that she can help contribute to the high SP uptime as when she doesn’t need to heal using her Skill, her Basic ATKs will serve as a great battery for additional Skill Points.
A ton of Skill Points from Hanya and a bunch of ATK and SPD buffs means that Qingque will be able to gamble to her heart’s content. And, when she gets lucky, she’ll be able to hit with the force of a truck.
That was how to make the best Hanya build in Honkai: Star Rail.
