Aventurine Materials

Let’s begin this guide by examining the essential materials required for Aventurine’s ascension to Level 80. Below is a comprehensive list of everything you’ll need to collect:

  • 15x Tatters of Thought / 15x Fragments of Impression / 15x Shards of Desires (Memory Zone Meme Enemy Drops)
  • 65x Suppressing Edict (Stagnant Shadow Drops)
  • 308,000 Credits

When looking for the Memory Zone Meme series materials, the Memory Zone Meme enemies are your best chance of finding them, and you can battle these enemies in Penacony (A Child’s Dream and The Reverie (Dreamscape)). Moreover, when you try battling through Simulated Universe Worlds, you will have better consistency in finding the materials. Additionally, you can convert low-grade materials into higher grades using the Omni-Synthesizer. Last but not least, you can easily earn a steady stream of Tatters of Thought through Assignments, netting you 20 (+10) pieces each day.

An essential item for Aventurine’s upgrade is the Suppressing Edict, one of the many Stagnant Shadow Drops in Honkai: Star Rail. This item is located in the Artisanship Workshop area of Xianzhou Luofu. To obtain these materials, you must use 30 Trailblaze Power for each attempt, and the quality of the drops improves with increasing difficulty. The primary adversary in this area is the Aurumaton Gatekeeper, a formidable Aurumaton enemy capable of imposing Sanctions on your team if you repeatedly attack this enemy.

As for Aventurine’s Traces, you’ll need all three rarities of Penacony’s Path of Preservation material (Scattered Stardust, Crystal Meteorites, and Divine Amber). You’ll also need to fight the newest Echo of War, Starcrusher Swarm King – Skaracabaz (Synthetic), as Aventurine requires the material, Past Evils of the Borehole Planet Disaster, from the weekly boss, which was introduced in Version 1.6.

Aventurine’s Abilities Overview

Similar to previous characters in Honkai: Star Rail, Aventurine possesses battle prowess to help your team defeat enemies. We’ll examine his Basic Attack, Skill, Talent, Technique, and Ultimate to understand the extent of his abilities.

Basic Attack: Straight Bet

Starting his kit overview, we’ll look at Aventurine’s Basic Attack, Straight Bet. With this attack, Aventurine deals Imaginary DMG equaling up to 100% of his DEF to a single enemy target.

And that’s it. Unfortunately, you won’t find any unique mechanism within Aventurine’s Basic Attack and shouldn’t expect special effects like those of Dan Heng IL or Blade. Still, his Basic Attack does its job when you need it the most, and that’s more than enough as Aventurine primarily focuses on providing Shield for his allies through the use of his Skill.

Skill: Cornerstone Deluxe

The next part of Aventurine’s kit is his Skill, Cornerstone Deluxe. This Skill is practically his main way of protecting his allies, and he does so by giving all allies a Fortified Wager shield that can block DMG equal to 16.0% of Aventurine’s DEF plus 80, lasting for 3 turn(s). When Fortified Wager is gained repeatedly, the Shield effect can stack, up to 200% of the current Shield effect provided by the Skill.

There is a lot to break down here, the first one is the Fortified Wager’s effect. As you might surmise, Aventurine’s shield derives from his DEF stat, which means that the higher the DEF Aventurine has, the better the Fortified Wager’s effect will be.

Another interesting part of Cornerstone Deluxe is the way that it’s easily stackable, as you can do so in every turn, unlike Gepard’s shield, which is stronger but he requires his Ultimate to produce that shield, therefore Aventurine has an edge compared to Gepard in regards to how frequent he can erect his shield.

Ultimate: Roulette Shark

After talking about Aventurine’s Skill, it’s not complete without also talking about his Ultimate, Roulette Shark. This ability is what makes him the current gambling king of Honkai: Star Rail, as he needs to reach a certain wager before he can unleash his Follow-up Attack from his Talent.

Aventurine randomly gains 1 to 7 points of Blind Bet. Then, inflicts Unnerved on a single target enemy for 3 turn(s) and deals Imaginary DMG equal to 162% of Aventurine’s DEF to the single target enemy. When an ally hits an Unnerved enemy target, the CRIT DMG dealt increases by 9.0%.

At a glance, this Ultimate seems basic, however, it provides Aventurine with the much-needed boost necessary to trigger his Talent, Shot Loaded Right, where if you get lucky, you will trigger his Follow-up Attack immediately after his Ultimate ends. Moreover, Roulette Shark grants other allies get bonus CRIT DMG whenever they attack the same target as Aventurine’s Ultimate target.

Talent: Shot Loaded Right

Aventurine is a man who loves to bet, and he always wins whatever he needs and wants, and that is highlighted through his Talent, Shot Loaded Right.

For any single ally with Fortified Wager, their Effect RES increases by 25.0%, and when they get attacked, Aventurine gains 1 point of Blind Bet. When Aventurine has Fortified Wager, he can resist Crowd Control debuffs. This effect can trigger again after 2 turn(s). Aventurine additionally gains 1 point(s) of Blind Bet after getting attacked. Upon reaching 7 points of Blind Bet, Aventurine consumes the 7 points to launch a 7-hit follow-up attack, with each hit dealing Imaginary DMG equal to 12% of Aventurine’s DEF to a single random enemy. Blind Bet is capped at 10 points.

As previously mentioned, Aventurine’s main focuses are his Skill and Talent, since his Talent provides him with a potent means of attack that is only available when he reaches a certain Blind Bet stack. In addition to that, all allies who have the Fortified Wager shield will receive 25% Effect RES, a precious stat to help counter the enemies’ nasty Crowd Control debuffs like Entanglement or Outraged. Meanwhile, Aventurine himself will be immune to Crowd Controls as long as his shield remains active, though at the cost of only being able to do so every 2 turns.

Overall, although a Preservation character in nature, Aventurine is also capable of at least dealing damage to some extent (mind you, he will never be as powerful as the natural DPS characters like Acheron, Jingliu, or Dan Heng: Imbibitor Lunae in terms of raw damage output), and this Talent is the perfect way to do so.

Technique: The Red or the Black

Last but not least, Aventurine’s arsenal would not be complete without discussing his Technique, The Red or the Black, which is simplicity at its finest value

After using the Technique, 1 of the following effects will be granted:

  • There is a chance for DEF to increase by 24%.
  • There is a high chance for DEF to increase by 36%.
  • There is a small chance for DEF to increase by 60%.

When this Technique is used repeatedly, the acquired effect with the highest buff value is retained. When the next battle starts, increase all allies’ DEF by the corresponding value, lasting for 3 turn(s).

Overall, you might want to pop Aventurine’s Technique before a big fight against Elite Enemies or during your Memory of Chaos runs, as the DEF boost from this Technique can save your team’s lives during the early turns, which gives you an edge and a chance to nuke down those tough enemies.

Aventurine’s Traces Breakdown

Once you get to know how Aventurine deals against his enemies, the next step to understand how to build him is by analyzing his Traces. Overall, Aventurine’s Traces maximize his Talent’s potency by making it trigger if another ally uses a Follow-up Attack and gives the Fortified Wager shield immediately. In addition to that, Aventurine also has some minor Trace trees that will boost his stats, as you can see here:

  • 14.4% Imaginary DMG Boost ( 3.2 + 4.8 + 6.4)
  • 10% Effect RES Boost (4 + 6)
  • 35% DEF Boost (5 + 5 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 10)

Now that we’ve seen Aventurine’s minor Trace trees’ stat boosts, it’s time to discuss his Major Traces. When Aventurine reaches Ascension 2, the first Major Trace, Leverage, becomes available for him. For every 100 of Aventurine’s DEF that exceeds 1600, he increases his own CRIT Rate by 2%, up to a maximum increase of 48%. This means that Aventurine favors the DEF stat the most not only for his abilities but also for this CRIT Rate boost, which potentially can help him deal slightly more damage upon his enemies.

The next Major Trace is Hot Hand, a Trace that is crucial and beneficial for Aventurine’s shielding capability. When a battle starts, grant all allies a Fortified Wager shield, whose Shield effect is equal to 100% of the one provided by the Skill, lasting for 3 turn(s). This means that when you unlock Hot Hand, you don’t even have to spend a Skill Point to erect Aventurine’s shield for the first turn, giving you a positive Skill Points pool to help your DPS characters unleash their Skills.

Lastly, Aventurine’s Ascension 6 Trace, Bingo!, is a little bit situational, as Aventurine needs a character like Dr. Ratio to make this Trace work wonders. After an ally with Fortified Wager launches a follow-up attack, Aventurine accumulates 1 Blind Bet point. This effect can trigger up to 3 time(s). And its trigger count resets at the start of Aventurine’s turn. After Aventurine launches his Talent’s follow-up attack, provides all allies with a Fortified Wager that can block DMG equal to 7.2% of Aventurine’s DEF plus 96, and additionally grants a Fortified Wager that can block DMG equal to 7.2% of Aventurine’s DEF plus 96 to the ally with the lowest Shield effect, lasting for 3 turns.

Aventurine Abilities Priority

Now that we are familiar with Aventurine’s gambling playbook and Traces alongside their effects, it’s time to discuss what abilities you should prioritize when building Aventurine to help him reach his maximum potential.

  1. Cornerstone Deluxe (Skill)
  2. Shot Loaded Right (Talent)
  3. Roulette Shark (Ultimate)
  4. Straight Bet (Basic ATK)

As we have discussed earlier, Aventurine is a bonafide Preservation character, so it is no wonder that you should definitely prioritize upgrading his Skill before even looking at other abilities he has.

The next things you should prioritize after his Skill are the Talent and the Ultimate, as these two abilities help Aventurine provide further damage enhancement for his allies as well as giving more Effect RES percentage to his Fortified Wager shield.

The very last thing you should upgrade is his Basic Attack, because just like most Basic Attacks, Aventurine’s does not give bonuses or provide great quirks, though he doesn’t need that as his Skill alone is more than sufficient to cement his place in the current Honkai: Star Rail‘s meta.

Aventurine’s Eidolons

After getting familiar with Aventurine’s arsenal of abilities in the previous parts of this guide, we will now list all of Aventurine’s Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail. Eidolons can be acquired by pulling the same character multiple times from the Event Warp. To get Aventurine’s unique Eidolons, you need to have multiple copies of him from his Character Event Warp, “Gilded Imprisonment”. Here are the full list of his Eidolons, ranging from Eidolon 1 to Eidolon 6:

  1. Prisoner’s Dilemma: Increases CRIT DMG by 20% for allies with Fortified Wager. After using the Ultimate, provides all allies with a Fortified Wager shield, whose Shield effect is equal to 100% of the one provided by the Skill, lasting for 3 turn(s).
  2. Bounded Rationality: When using the Basic ATK, reduce the target’s All-Type RES by 12% for 3 turn(s).
  3. Droprate Maxing: Ultimate Lv. +2 and Basic ATK Lv. +1.
  4. Unexpected Hanging Paradox: When triggering his Talent’s follow-up attack, first increases Aventurine’s DEF by 40% for 2 turn(s), and additionally increases the Hits Per Action for his talent’s follow-up attack by 3.
  5. Ambiguity Aversion: Skill Lv. +2 and Talent Lv. +2.
  6. Stag Hunt Game: For every ally that holds a Shield, the DMG dealt by Aventurine increases by 50%, up to a maximum of 150%.

The best Eidolon that Aventurine has is his E1, as there are a lot of digests here. The first one is simple: Any ally who has Aventurine’s Fortified Wager will get 20% CRIT DMG, with no strings attached. And if that is not enough for you, then Aventurine’s Eidolon 1 enables him to grant Fortified Wager for all allies after he uses his Ultimate, which lasts for 3 turns, further cementing his place as a great SP-positive Preservation character.

Aventurine in Memory of Chaos (MoC) and Pure Fiction

After getting to know all of Aventurine’s abilities, Eidolons, and Traces for building him, we will now see how well he fares against two end-game contents in Honkai: Star Rail: Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction.

In Memory of Chaos, he is the mightiest Preservation character in the game right now, surpassing Gepard. This is purely thanks to how quickly he can provide a shield for his allies, compared to Gepard who can only provide a shield after every Ultimate use, which won’t happen every turn. He excels in situations where he doesn’t need to do any damage beyond his Ultimate and Talent, just providing the much-needed security for your DPS characters against tough enemies in MoC.

As for Pure Fiction, Aventurine’s Follow-up Attack potential can be devastating here, where in the right condition, he can damage five enemies at once in quick succession. However, his main purpose remains important here since the waves in Pure Fiction can be brutal and might end up killing your team if you don’t bring a Preservation character like Aventurine. You will need him to get the maximum points possible in each Stage.

Overall, Aventurine is a solid character who can reliably provide Fortified Wager shields for his allies. His kit’s simplicity is also what makes him strong, and the fact that he doesn’t require you to spend a Skill Point for him every turn is also a wonderful bonus that might be your make-or-break situation in a tough battle.

Aventurine’s Best Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail

Best in Slot: Inherently Unjust Destiny

When discussing the best Light Cone for Aventurine, you shouldn’t look further than his signature Light Cone, Inherently Unjust Destiny (Path of Preservation), as this Light Cone takes the crown. You can try and obtain Inherently Unjust Destiny from the Light Cone Event Warp “Brilliant Fixation”, which is still ongoing in tandem with Aventurine’s Character Event Warp. There are many reasons why this Signature Light Cone is the best pair for the dashing Aventurine.

At level 80, Inherently Unjust Destiny nets you 1058 HP, 423 ATK, and 661 DEF to the holder. This Light Cone has one main Ability, All-In, and there are many benefits to unpack here. This Light Cone increases the wearer’s DEF by 40%. When the wearer provides a Shield to an ally, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 40%, lasting for 2 turns. When the wearer’s follow-up attack hits an enemy target, there is a 100% base chance to increase the DMG taken by the attacked enemy target by 10.0%, lasting for 2 turns.

Inherently Unjust Destiny is beautifully perfect for Aventurine since this Light Cone can improve his effectiveness in battle several folds. Since he provides a Fortified Wager shield regularly, he will always get the bonus CRIT DMG from this Light Cone. Moreover, Aventurine can benefit through the use of his Follow-up Attack, which in turn, gives his allies more damage against the enemy he hits. This Light Cone is offensive-oriented, however, it’s fitting for a character like Aventurine: Careful yet daring.

Best Alternatives for Aventurine’s Light Cones

While it is undeniable that Inherently Unjust Destiny is Aventurine’s best Light Cone, as a Path of Preservation character, he has many backup options if you’re unable to pull for his Signature Light Cone.

Before we dive in, it should be worth mentioning that the recommendations will be a mix of a 5-star Light Cone option paired with a more accessible 4-star Light Cone.

The best replacement Light Cones for Aventurine in Honkai: Star Rail is Moment of Victory and Concert for Two.

Moment of Victory Light Cone.

Moment of Victory Light Cone.

Light Cones Breakdown

Moment of Victory is a free-to-play 5-Star Light Cone that is obtainable through exchanging Undying Starlight in the Starlight Exchange Store or getting it from the Standard  Stellar Warp or through the limited Brilliant Fixation Warp. At level 80, it will give your characters 1058 HP, 476 ATK, and 595 DEF. Its Ability, Verdict, has several effects. Increases the wearer’s DEF by 24% and Effect Hit Rate by 24%. Increases the chance for the wearer to be attacked by enemies. When the wearer is attacked, increase their DEF by an extra 24% until the end of the wearer’s turn. This Light Cone gives tons of DEF boost for Aventurine, though at the expense of not being able to provide him with an offensive ability.

Moving on to the 4-Star option is the Concert for Two Light Cone, a great free-to-play Path of Preservation Light Cone that is relatively new, and its Ability, Inspire, provides the wearer’s DEF by 16%. And for every on-field character that has a Shield, the DMG dealt by the wearer increases by 4%. This is a budget version of Aventurine’s Signature Light Cone, as this one can improve his DEF while also giving him bonus damage as long as at least one on-field character has his Fortified Wager shield.

Best Relics and Planar Ornaments for Aventurine

Relics are arguably the most versatile part of any Honkai: Star Rail character build, which you can try matching two combinations that you see fit for that character. Moreover, every set has its unique effects and abilities that can shift a character’s potential. For Aventurine’s build, we want to give him a Relic Set and Planar Ornaments that can enhance his defenses while also giving him a slight offensive edge against his opponents.

With that in mind, the best Relic and Planar Ornament set for Aventurine is the 4-piece Knight of Purity Palace Relic Set and 2-piece Broken Keel Planar Ornaments.

Knight of Purity Palace Relic Set.

Knight of Purity Palace Relic Set.

Combination Explanations

Let me explain why these two sets are the very best Relics and Planar Ornaments you can give to Aventurine. Let’s start with the Relic Set, Knight of Purity Palace. For starters, this Relic Set grants him with 15% DEF bonus if you equip two of the Relic parts. A great boost towards making Aventurine’s Fortified Wager shield sturdier is always welcomed. Next, apart from that DEF bonus, Aventurine’s shield can tank substantially more damage than ever before with this Relic Set, as it enables his shield to absorb 20% more damage, giving him and his allies more time to remain alive and finish off the enemies.

Moving on, the Broken Keel Planar Ornament Set will increase Aventurine’s Effect RES by 10%, and if it reaches 30%, then all allies will receive a 10% CRIT DMG bonus. This won’t be an issue since Aventurine can easily reach this milestone with the help of his Talent and Skill.

Aventurine’s Crucial Stats

Here are the main stats we’re recommending Trailblazers should hunt for if they want to build their Aventurine to be the best Preservation Shielder he can be:

  • Body: DEF% / CRIT DMG%
  • Feet: SPD
  • Planar Sphere: DEF% / Imaginary DMG Bonus
  • Link Rope: DEF%

Meanwhile, here’s what you want to be on the lookout for in terms of Aventurine’s sub-stats:

  1. DEF%
  2. CRIT DMG
  3. SPD
  4. CRIT Rate

It is advisable to have your Aventurine reach 4000 DEF and 134 SPD Stats to make him an optimal unit for your team.

Best Teams for Aventurine in Honkai: Star Rail

Aventurine Follow-up Attack Team

Aventurine is a super flexible Preservation character. He can work with many team compositions, and one of them includes the Follow-up Attack Team, which heavily relies on characters such as Dr. Ratio and Topaz. These two can give Aventurine ample time to activate his Talent’s effect in every turn, causing a chain reaction of Follow-up Attacks one after another, resulting in your team never giving the enemies any opportunity to strike back.

With that in mind, Aventurine’s Follow-up Attack Team includes Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, and Ruan Mei.

Dr. Ratio and Topaz are a lovable and deadly duo and are the backbones of the Follow-up Attack teams, so having them here is the optimal way to field this team. Dr. Ratio can enjoy his Follow-up Attacks more thanks to Aventurine’s Ultimate, which provides a debuff against an enemy he wishes. Meanwhile, Topaz and Ruan Mei will act as their supporting characters, with Topaz giving Dr. Ratio and Aventurine more Follow-up Attack damage while Ruan Mei enhances their Break Efficiency.

Aventurine Follow-up Attack Team.

Aventurine Follow-up Attack Team.

Aventurine Nihility Team

While the previous team focuses on Aventurine’s Follow-up Attack potential by pairing him with Dr. Ratio and Topaz, this team instead makes him a source of debuff income for Acheron, the main star of this Nihility-based team.

That being said, Aventurine’s Nihility Team includes Aventurine, Acheron, Silver Wolf, and Pela.

Aventurine’s synergy with Acheron shouldn’t be overlooked, since his Ultimate will help with Acheron’s Slashed Dream count, and when you also have Silver Wolf and Pela on this team, there is a very high chance that Acheron will be able to unleash her Ultimate every two turns.

Aventurine Nihility Team.

Aventurine F2P Team

And the last team for Aventurine in this guide will be his free-to-play team, a team composition that mostly host a character who is either free at one point, or you can easily get them from either the gacha system or through Simulated Worlds (only for Herta).

For that purpose, this Aventurine F2P Team includes Aventurine, Herta, Asta, and Yukong.

In this free-to-play team, Aventurine serves as an independent sustain character. Herta contributes by accumulating Aventurine’s Blind Bet through the execution of Follow-up attacks. Meanwhile, Asta and Yukong are instrumental in enhancing the team’s SPD and CRIT Rate, respectively.
