Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 marks the climatic finale of the Penacony storyline, with a shocking new Trailblaze Mission which sees the end of the Dreamscape and the many mysteries we’ve encountered over the last few version updates. 2.2 always marks the introduction of three new explorable areas to the game: the eerie and forgotten shores of Dreamflux Reef, the magnificent and terrifying Penacony Grand Theatre, and the comedically nightmarish SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue. The Scorchsand Audition Venue is exciting thanks to how you move around the space.

The Scorchsand Audition Venue is hiding a secret, though, several. Each of the Audition Venue’s six challenges is a secret mechanism that will spawn something new for Trailblazers to interact with when triggered. Sometimes, these hidden challenges will spawn new bits of treasure to be collected, others it will add a whole new mini-game to the map. Either way, if you can uncover how to activate these hidden challenges, you stand to walk away with tons of extra Stellar Jade for your Robin or Boothill funds.

Here’s how to start, and complete, all six Hidden Challenge activities in the SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2.

What are the Scorchsand Audition Venue Hidden Challenges?

The Scorchsand Audition Venue is built up of three sets of twin challenges, totalling six challenges in all. To travel between each section, Trailblazers must embark on special Shuttles which will deliver them from one challenge to the next.

However, this is where the Hidden Challenges of the Scorchsand Audition Venue pops up. Upon selecting a challenge to travel to from the Shuttle menu, you have the option of interacting with a strange device before departing. This device is actually some giant instrument and it will play different melodies depending on which part of the instrument you interact with. If you’re able to play the right notes in the correct order for that specific challenge, you’ll unlock the Hidden Challenge for that area.

The Secret Shuttle Mechanism

You’ll know that you’ve successfully completed a part of the sequence as one of three stars will appear above the Festival Wiki node on the bottom right of the menu. When all three stars are filled in, the Hidden Challenge will unlock.  

Before going any further, we should mention that, to freely explore the Scorchsand Audition Venue, you must complete the Scorchsand Vacation Side Quest. This quest is given to you right after you finish the 2.2 Trailblaze Mission and it’s vital as it will take you to the three Challenges you choose not to visit on your first run-through of the Audition Venue: without completing this quest, you cannot access the Space Anchors in those locations, locking you out of their Hidden Challenges and rewards.

All Hidden Challenge Solutions in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2

Acting Challenge Hidden Challenge Solution

The first Hidden Challenge we’ll be activating in the SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue is the Acting Challenge Hidden Challenge. This is one of the first two stages you’ll have participated in with Firefly during the Trailblaze Mission and it contains a very important Hidden Challenge for collectors.

To activate the Acting Challenge’s Hidden Challenge in Honkai: Star Rail, board the Audition Shuttle at the start of the stage and then select the Acting Challenge node. Then, before departing, you need to perform the following actions on the massive instrument to the right of the menu:

1. Spin the top of the instrument twice
2. Twist the handle on the right of the instrument twice
3. Rotate the band around the instrument three times

For completing the Acting Challenge’s Hidden Challenge, you’ll spawn in the Audition Venue’s two Lordly Trashcans inside of the Acting Challenge. You’ll find them at the end of the Acting Challenge right before the shuttle to the next area, along with a disgruntled SoulGlad employee who asks you to stop the Trashcan Bandits from “spreading their rubbish takes” any further. 

 If you’d like to learn how to successfully navigate these fellows without a fight, or where you can find the other four Lordly Trashcans in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2The Fool Always Rings Twice. However, whether you engage them in combat or wordplay, you’ll still end up walking away with 40 Stellar Jade and 240 Clock Credits (20 Jade and 120 Credits per Trashcan).

Action Challenge Hidden Challenge Solution

The second Hidden Challenge we’ll be taking on in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 is the Action Challenge Hidden Challenge. This was the alternative path to the Acting Challenge where, instead of putting on your best performance, you needed to beat the tar out of three sets of Dreamtroupe enemies.

To activate the Action Challenge Hidden Challenge, enter the Audition Shuttle at the start of the stage once again and then select the Dreamplay Fantasia: Action Challenge destination. Before heading off, though, perform the following actions on the device on the right side of the menu:

1. Spin the top of the instrument once
2. Rotate the band around the instrument twice
3. Twist the handle on the right of the instrument three times

Similar to the Acting Challenge, unlocking the Hidden Challenge in the Action Challenge will spawn in the Scorchsand Audition Venue Warp Trotter, another collectable which is required to fully complete the location’s treasure total. You’ll find the newly summoned Warp Trotter near the final combat challenge where another SoulGlad employee will ask you to deal with this little devil before it gets out of control. 

In Version 2.2 of Honkai: Star Rail, Warp Trotters are worth 20 Stellar Blade and 120 Clock Credits if you manage to defeat them: if this sneaky little bugger manages to escape your grasp, simply teleport to a different planet and then return to the Acting Challenge arena. This should cause it to respawn for another round.

Gunfire Trial Hidden Challenge Solution

Next, we’ll move on to the second set of stages in the SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue, the Gunfire Time challenges. The first challenge in this pair is the Gunfire Trial, the area focused on Brother Hanu.

To begin, enter the Audition Shuttle at the end of either the Acting Challenge or Action Challenge areas. Once you’re inside, select the Gunfire Time: Gunfire Trial destination and then input the following actions into the device to trigger the Hidden Challenge:

1. Spin the top of the instrument twice
2. Flip the paddle on the right of the instrument three times
3. Rotate the thicker band around the instrument twice

Gunfire Trial Hidden Challenge Solution

The Gunfire Trial Hidden Challenge is very different to the first two. Instead of spawning a new bit of treasure to collect, it will instead allow you to access a new secret floor of the area using the elevator. You’ll find a SoulGlad employee cowering outside the elevator on the bottom floor, and he’ll soon beg you to check out the strange noises of gunfire that he’s heard from the basement. Upon entering the elevator, you’ll now have a new option to visit floor ???.

This new secret floor will take you to a shooting range where Brother Hanu is waiting. Interacting with Hanu will let you partake in Hanu Wars, a new mini-game similar to those in Clock Studios Theme Park. The aim of this game is to shoot down as many targets as possible with Hanu’s rocket launcher as quickly as possible, with a specific audience score which you need to hit for each stage to obtain a specific amount of Credits and Stellar Jade.

Each of the mini-game’s fifteen stages awards 10 Stellar Jade and there’s even an infinite mode which will award an additional 50 Stellar Jade if you can reach certain score requirements. All in all, this one Hidden Challenge will allow you to earn upwards of 200 Stellar Jade on its own, a great result if you’re looking to score some quick and easy pulls for your limited 5-star of choice. 

Time Trial Hidden Challenge Solution

The fourth Hidden Challenge we’re tackling is the Time Trial Hidden Challenge. Ordinarily, this is the trial which asks you to find three pieces of a giant Dreamticker so that you can fix it back up.

Just like the previous Hidden Challenge, start at either the Acting Challenge or Action Challenge Shuttle and then select the Gunfire Time: Time Trial destination. To activate the Hidden Challenge for the Time Trial area of the Scorchsand Audition Venue, perform the following actions on the device:

1. Spin the top of the instrument three times
2. Flip the paddle to the right of the instrument twice
3. Rotate the thinner band around the instrument once

Time Trial Hidden Challenge Solution

Successfully activating the Time Trial Hidden Challenge will cause a previously locked door in the stage to open, allowing you to access the treasures and puzzles which lay within. This new area has one Basic Treasure Chest to collect as well as a new set of jigsaw puzzles.

Completing both of these jigsaw puzzles will cause the nearby Clockie Statue to turn gold, earning you the Gold and Gear… Clock? Achievement which is worth 5 Stellar Jade. Additionally, you’ll also spawn a Precious Chest which is worth 40 Stellar Jade and full of plenty of useful rewards and resources. 

Superstar Showdown Arena 1 Hidden Challenge Solution

The final set of stages in the Scorchsand Audition Venue are the Superstar Showdown Arenas, areas where you’ve previously battled both Argenti and the Dormancy Memory Zone Meme. Now, with those enemies dispatched, their arenas are open for some more challenges.

To activate the Arena 1 Hidden Challenge, hop into the Audition Shuttle at the end of either the Gunfire Trial or the Time Trial to begin. Then, before setting off, select the Super Showdown: Arena 1 location and perform the following actions:

1. Spin the arrow on top of the instrument four times
2. Move the coin on the front of the instrument twice
3. Rotate the thicker band around the instrument once

The Hidden Challenge for the first Superstar Showdown Arena is an interesting one. Where Argenti once stood, you’ll now find a series of ten sentient signboards arranged like a series of bowling pins. The goal here is fairly simple: knock down as many as you can before they can recover. 

If you manage to knock down ten of them within the time limit, the SoulGlad employee nearby will congratulate you on your efforts. More importantly, you’ll also spawn in another Precious Chest for even more Stellar Jade and goodies.

Superstar Showdown Arena 2 Hidden Challenge Solution

Finally, the last Hidden Challenge we need to trigger is for Superstar Showdown: Arena 2. This is where you fought Dormancy during the Scorchsand Vacation quest and it, like Arena 1, is now home to a much more light-hearted challenge.

Once again, jump into the Gunfire Trial or Time Trial Shuttles and select your destination as Superstar Showdown: Arena 2. Then, one final time, make sure to perform the actions listed below to activate the Hidden Challenge:

1. Spin the arrow on top of the instrument once
2. Move the coin on the front of the instrument once
3. Rotate the thinner band around the instrument three times

Superstar Showdown Arena 2 Hidden Challenge Solution

The final Hidden Challenge in the Scorchsand Audition Venue is another mini-game-focused one. This time, instead of spawning in a bunch of signboards to hit, a camera will appear on the challenges platform which, when interacted with, will take you into an instance of the Hamster Ball Knight: Fast and Furrynutrs mini-game. 

Hamster Ball Knight is one of the mini-games available in Clock Studios Theme Park and it’s a fairly simple game to complete. To spawn in one final Precious Chest and complete the final Hidden Challenge in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2, all you need to do is beat the stage with a high score. For completing all six of the Hidden Challenges, you’ll also get the Audition Rizzler Achievement which is a nice bonus, when all’s said and done.
