Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss Guide (Version 4.4)

This Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss guide for Version 4.4 will discuss about how to tackle the game's hardest content, including how to compose team compositions for each Floor, organizing your strategies against multiple enemy waves, which marks the return of Sumeru-based enemies, and adapt to the Ley Lines' effects to win your full-star Abyss runs.

Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss Guide (Version 4.4)When discussing the hardest obstacle in Genshin Impact, the term Spiral Abyss is likely to be the response from most players. To assist you in comprehending this content more effectively, we’ll delve into the complexities of Spiral Abyss. This includes guidance on which characters to use on specific Floors, the types of enemies you’ll encounter, and strategies for defeating them, all of which are covered in this Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss 4.4 guide. Let’s begin.

In keeping with the annual tradition, the more ‘permanent’ content in the Spiral Abyss, Floors 9 and 10, undergoes a revamp in its enemy lineup. This year’s Fontaine update signifies a fresh start for the Abyss. The Hydro Nation is famous for its mechanical engineering prowess and rich marine life, encompassing Sea Crabs and Specialist Mek among others. Hence, starting from Version 4.0, these foes have taken the place of the native enemies of Sumeru to confront players brave enough to take on the Spiral Abyss.

In addition to regular enemies like the Specialist Meks and other Fontainian foes, formidable Bosses lie in wait for players in the deepest parts of the Abyss. Contrary to Floors 9 and 10, the latter segment of the content gets an update every 1.5 months to mirror the current Version of Genshin Impact. In Version 4.4, players will encounter familiar yet daunting World Bosses first introduced in Liyue and Sumeru, including the Ruin Serpent, Setekh Wenut, and Aeonblight Drake. These Bosses can easily disrupt your team’s flawless runs if you’re not cautious during combat.

Floor 9

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 9:

After a character triggers a Vaporize reaction, the Vaporize reaction DMG for that character is increased by 50% for 5s.

The floor buff for Floor 9 increases the damage of the Vaporize reaction dealt by characters to enemies. Vaporize damage is a combination of Pyro and Hydro. Some teams benefit from this buff in a certain half of the floor, while others are useless, based on the enemies we will see later.

As previously mentioned, the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact has a more permanent enemy lineup for Floor 9 and 10, and we already covered how to clear these Floors in our previous guide. For Floor 9, you can read the guide from this point

Floor 10

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 10:

Character deals 50% increased DMG to opponents affected by Hydro.

The Floor Buff for Floor 10 increases all damage to Hydro-affected enemies. This means having a Hydro character or a team around Hydro characters will benefit.

As previously mentioned, the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact has a more permanent enemy lineup for Floor 9 and 10, and we already covered how to clear these Floors in our previous guide. For Floor 10, you can read the guide from this point

Floor 11

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 11:

All party members receive a 75% Anemo DMG Bonus.

Floor 11’s buff makes Anemo characters deal extra damage, encouraging you to build teams around them. This Floor buff means that having a team revolving around Xiao, Wanderer, alongside the latest Anemo Support character, Xianyun, is preferable, especially for the second half of this Floor.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The initial segment of Chamber 1 is composed of four waves, each featuring a mix of a Mitachurl and several melee Hilichurls. Every enemy in this half prioritizes attacking the Tower first. A strategy to halt their advance is to stagger them before they reach the Tower. This can be achieved using a Charged Attack, Skill, or Elemental Burst, such as one from Xingqiu. Once they are staggered, you can concentrate on eliminating them easily.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

In the second half of Chamber 1, a wave of Slimes appears, and each enemy you defeat triggers the spawning of additional Slimes. These small Slimes pose little threat unless they get close to the Tower. Instead of chasing and killing them individually, you can employ a Crowd Control unit like Venti, Kazuha, or Sucrose to group them. As for the extra spawns, no more than five Slimes can exist simultaneously, so you should remember this number during the battle.

Chamber 2, First Half

In the first half of Chamber 2, there will be two waves of enemies, Geovishaps and Bathysmal Vishaps, that confront you. The Geovishaps acquire Hydro and Cryo elements after you drain a certain threshold of their health. By using these elements, you can trigger reactions with Pyro DPS or Electro DPS, which allows you to inflict more damage on the Geovishaps. For the Bathysmal Vishaps, make sure to dodge their attacks that can drain your burst energy, and wait for the right time to strike them.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half is made up of two waves, which consist of Slimes and Abyss Mages. By Swirling the Slimes together with an Anemo character, you can instantly shatter the Mages’ shield. After this, you can take them down individually with ease. To prevent their attacks during the shield recovery phase, I recommend you target the Abyss Mages first.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 is composed of a single wave. The enemies here are two flying Ruin Drakes that appear both in front of and behind you. If you approach one of the Ruin Drakes, the other will launch missiles at you and then move closer. If you have a character with a bow, you can target the glowing circle around their wings to bring them down.

After a certain period, they will enter a phase where they have increased resistance to the element that has caused them the most damage. During this transition phase, you can target the core in their eye to disable them and cause them to fall for a few seconds, giving you a time window to strike them down.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 involves a single wave with additional spawns. The enemies are Mirror Maidens and Treasure Hoarder Throwers of each element. A unique mechanic in this half is that defeating a Treasure Hoarder triggers the spawn of another in the same location as the original spawn. This continues until the shared quota of 12 spawns is reached, after which no more Treasure Hoarders will spawn.

As for the Mirror Maidens, only one can spawn at a time. The second Mirror Maiden spawns under the center, and the third spawns above the center. This chamber can be challenging if you can’t evade the Mirror Maiden’s attack that cages your character. During this time, the Treasure Hoarders will launch their attacks at you, causing continuous damage and stunning your characters temporarily if you’re not careful.

One strategy for this Chamber is to bring a Crowd Control character to stun the enemies. Particularly for the Mirror Maiden, if she never marks you with her first hit, she won’t have higher stagger resistance. Another approach is to defeat the Treasure Hoarders first, then tackle the Mirror Maiden.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Floor 11, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These teams range from the Navia Double Pyro Team, Hyperbloom Team, and Xiao Hypercarry Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, Navia Double Pyro for the first half, and then you must use the Xiao Hypercarry Team for the second half), this list is only a general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 11.

First Half

Navia Double Pyro Team

The Navia Team consists of two Pyro characters and two Geo characters. This team leverages the Bennett buff, Geo resonance, and Pyro resonance to enhance Navia’s damage. Navia’s capacity to inflict high damage on several close-range enemies in a brief period makes her a comfortable choice for Floor 11. Despite Geovishaps having a higher resistance to Geo, Xiangling’s damage can aid in their faster elimination.

Hyperbloom Team

The Hyperbloom Team has a core of Dendro, Electro, and Hydro characters. The high damage output of the Hyperbloom teams makes them a viable choice for the first half, especially since the first half primarily consists of elite enemies, which are the optimal targets for Hyperbloom due to their single-target high damage. Having Xingqiu in the team provides interruption resistance to block staggering attacks from the enemies within Floor 11.

On-Field Vaporize Team

Hutao, Yoimiya, Diluc, and Klee serve as examples of on-field Pyro DPS for the Vaporize team. The team requires an off-field Hydro enabler such as Xingqiu or Yelan to easily trigger Vaporize with the Pyro DPS. Similar to Hyperbloom, on-field Pyro DPS tends to have highly damaging single-target attacks that are very effective against elite enemies with higher health. However, due to the high field time of the Pyro DPS, it’s best to bring a character like Xinqiu to utilize his interruption resistance against the enemies. This is to prevent the enemies from staggering your DPS characters.

Second Half

Xiao Hypercarry Team

With Xianyun’s addition, Xiao receives a boost in his Plunge Attacks, making him a superior hypercarry compared to Wanderer. However, it’s only recommended to use Faruzan if you have her at C6. Otherwise, it’s better to use Furina for damage buffing or Sucrose for better energy regeneration for Xiao. The second half of Floor 11 is designed for Anemo teams, by utilizing Swirl to defeat enemies easily. Xiao is particularly effective against the Mirror Maiden’s cage attack as he can jump and dash away from it during his Elemental Burst phase.

National Team

The National Team’s core consists of Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett. The last slot can be a flex unit, typically an Anemo CC unit like Sucrose and Kazuha, or a Cryo unit like Rosaria or Chongyun. However, the National Team’s disadvantage is that the higher the constellation, the better the team performs. The minimum constellation is C4 for Xiangling and C2 for Xingqiu. It’s recommended to have a Crowd Control unit as the last unit to group the enemies for the second half.

Freeze Team

The Freeze Team consists of a Cryo on-field, a Hydro off-field enabler, and an Anemo CC unit. This team’s true value lies in its ability to Freeze the enemies, rendering them unable to attack your characters. Besides grouping, this team also stuns all enemies in the second half except the Cryo Slimes, which makes the Freeze Team very convenient against Floor 11’s second half.

Floor 12

At last, we arrive at the concluding step of this Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss guide. Floor 12, is the last challenge for all players, which brings the ultimate difficulty and demands skills, focus, and determination to successfully secure the full 9 Stars. Each Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact possesses its unique Ley Lines buff, which can assist you in forming the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 12:

For this floor only, the ley line flow will be normal.

There is no floor buff for Floor 12, so there will be no advantage in using certain teams for this floor. However, the enemy lineup’s design is rather peculiar, as the first half encompasses Elite Enemies with two waves, while the latter half is brimming with World Bosses that are very time consuming and can end your perfect run if you’re not fast enough in defeating them.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The first half of Chamber 1 is composed of two waves. The enemies include both Construction Specialists and Large Overgrown Breacher Primus. The Construction enemies in the first wave differ from those in the previous Abyss iteration, possessing long-range Cryo attacks. It’s challenging to group these enemies, and success often depends on luck. If one of them is distant from you, they will use their long-range attack, which can continuously stagger you if you don’t have a Shielder/shield. If you bring Xingqiu, you can easily be Frozen due to his skill in applying Hydro to himself.

The second wave features Breacher Primus, which will mostly remain stationary and enter their attack phase where they apply Dendro infusion to themselves. It’s highly advisable to use Hydro or Electro characters here to destroy their infusion quickly and halt their attack phase. During their attack phase, they will constantly fire Dendro bullets that will apply Dendro to you, potentially disrupting the chain reactions you’re looking for.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 1.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 1 is composed of a single wave. The enemy is the Ruin Serpent, the World Boss that you can encounter in The Chasm. This boss can be challenging due to its habit of diving into the floor after each attack, giving you only a brief window to attack each time it surfaces. This makes it difficult to use teams that require a long setup rotation.

There is a method to stun the boss. After its third or fourth attack, it enters a charging phase where it has high resistance to all attacks. However, if you inflict enough damage during this phase, you can stun the Ruin Serpent and slam it down for your team to deal massive damage against it.

Teams that require a long setup or teams that deal constant damage over time may not be very effective unless they deal enough damage, due to the boss’s low field time. Several teams that don’t require a long setup include Hutao teams, Yoimiya teams, Hyperbloom teams, Neuvillette teams, and Aggravate teams.

Chamber 2, First Half

The first half of Chamber 2 is made up of two waves. The adversaries are Eremite Elites of various elements. The twist is that in the Spiral Abyss, these Elites will instantly spawn their pets upon appearing. The first wave includes Geo and Anemo Elites. You should move close to the Anemo Elite because the Geo Elite will move toward the player after spawning his pet. This allows you to group them together and simultaneously inflict damage on both.

The second wave comprises an Eremite Floral Ring Dancer and an Eremite Scorching Loremaster. Having a shield will provide comfort in avoiding the burning reaction from their attacks. Upon their appearance, you need to move closer to the Dendro Ring Dancer. This is because the Pyro Loremaster can teleport towards the player. One major thing to keep in mind is that you should finish this half in under a minute, leaving 9 minutes left on the clock, as you will need it for the second half.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 2.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 2.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half only pits you against a single enemy, but a powerful one. The adversary is Setekh Wenut, a World Boss from Sumeru. This enemy is considered one of the most challenging in the Abyss due to its 55% resistance to all elements and 90% resistance to Anemo. Its moveset is similar to the Ruin Serpent’s, where it will burrow underground and only resurface for a few seconds.

After the third or fourth attack, it will ascend and create numerous Anemo circles. The player needs to infuse at least two of these circles with Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro. There will always be one circle on the ground, but the rest require a character with ranged attacks

If you manage to infuse two circles, the Setekh Wenut will descend and be defenseless for several seconds. Like the Ruin Serpent, this stun represents the longest duration it spends above ground. However, the duration is not sufficient to set up long rotations. Therefore, teams that can deal high damage instantly or teams that don’t require rotation are highly advisable here, just like the half where you must defeat the Ruin Serpent.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 has two waves, where you must fight Fontaine Specialist Meks, one being a ranged attacker and the other a melee attacker. Upon initiating the stage, immediately concentrate on the one on the right Specialist Mek. The melee Mek will approach you, allowing for easy grouping. In the second wave, the ranged Mek spawns to the left of the center, so move toward it immediately. Similar to the previous chamber, the enemies can be grouped easily, but this requires you to field a team that can deal AoE damage.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 once again makes you fight a World Boss from Sumeru, this time it’s the Aeonblight Drake. Once you begin the battle, this enemy will immediately take flight. There are several methods to bring it down, depending on the glowing core. During its initial attack, the core of its body may glow at times. You can target this core to halt the attack and stun the Drake. If the core doesn’t glow, you can target the circles on its wings to make it fall. You can commence your rotations once they fall.

Unlike previous Chambers (Ruin Serpent and Setekh Wenut), after being stunned, the Aeonblight Drake will remain on the ground longer than those enemies. If you can’t deal enough damage to defeat it while it’s on the ground, it will enter a charging phase where it will have high resistance to the element that has inflicted the most damage on it. If you manage to stun it during the charging phase by hitting the core in its eye, it will cease charging. However, upon recovering from the stun, the Drake will immediately take flight again. The sequence then repeats, which means it’s imperative to quickly destroy the Drake within two sequences.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Floor 12, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These teams range from the Nilou Bloom Team, Taser Team, and Neuvillette Hypercarry Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, Taser Team for the first half, and then you must use the Neuvillette Hypercarry Team for the second half), this list is only a general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 12.

First Half

Nilou Bloom Team

The Nilou Bloom Team is limited to using only Hydro and Dendro. Most enemies in the first half are grouped close together or can be grouped by strategically positioning our character on the map. As a result, the Nilou Team can easily inflict damage on multiple enemies at once.

Taser Team

The core of the Taser Team consists of Hydro and Electro. For the first half, Taser teams are very effective due to the proximity of enemy spawns. Beidou is particularly potent for this Spiral Abyss due to the enemies spawning in pairs per wave. This is the ideal scenario for her burst if you have her at least at C2. It’s recommended to pair her with Fischl and a Hydro sub-DPS like Yelan or Xingqiu for a better elemental reaction.

Navia Double Pyro Team

The Navia Double Pyro Team consists of two Pyro characters and two Geo characters. This team leverages the Bennett buff, Geo resonance, and Pyro resonance to further enhance Navia’s damage. Navia can deal high frontloaded damage in a short period, and since the enemies are mostly Eremite Elites and other Elite Enemies that spawn near each other, you can damage both of them simultaneously.

Second Half

Neuvillette Hypercarry Team

The Neuvillette Hyper Team typically includes Neuvillette and buffers such as Furina or Kazuha. This team is designed to enhance Neuvillette’s damage. Neuvillette is a DPS character with a very short setup duration. You can use his Elemental Burst even without the enemy appearing because you only need the bubbles from his Elemental Burst. However, you need to hit the enemy using his Elemental Skill to spawn the water balls. Keep in mind that the Setekh Wenut still has a 55% resistance to all elements, so make sure to bring buffers like Furina, Kazuha, or Sucrose to reliably increase Neuvillette’s damage.

On-field Vaporize Team

Hutao and Yoimiya are Pyro DPS characters that don’t require a long setup. The team needs an off-field Hydro enabler such as Xinqiu and Yelan to easily trigger Vaporize with the Pyro DPS. Before the Ruin Serpent or Setekh Wenut appears above the ground, you can set up before this phase so your Hutao or Yoimiya can deal damage when those enemies appear. There are several variations to this team, but Double Hydro teams using Yelan and Xingqiu are the go-to setup for a comfortable run.

Aggravate and Spread Team

The core of the Aggravate and Spread Team consists of Dendro DPS and Electro DPS. If the main damage comes from an Electro character, it is an Aggravate team. If the main source of damage comes from a Dendro character, it is a Spread team. This team also doesn’t require long setups. However, the team requires investment in artifacts for both the main DPS and sub-DPS. For this team, Fischl is the best to bring as a sub-DPS thanks to her passive. As for the main DPS, you can use Tighnari, Alhaitham, Keqing, or Raiden, depending on which character you’re most comfortable with.

And that’s all the ingredients necessary for you to clear through Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Version 4.4.
