Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss Guide (Version 4.1)

This Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss guide for Version 4.1 will discuss about how to tackle the game's hardest content, including how to compose team compositions for each Floor, organizing your strategies against multiple enemy waves, and adapt to the Ley Lines' effects to win your full-star Abyss runs.

Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss Guide (Version 4.1)When we’re talking about endgame content in Genshin Impact, most players will certainly answer you with these two words: Spiral Abyss. And so, to help you understand the content better, we will take a deep dive into the intricacies within the Abyss, ranging from which characters to bring on certain Floors, what type of enemies you will face, as well as how to defeat them, all in this Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss guide. Let’s begin.

As per the yearly tradition, in which the more ‘permanent’ content within Spiral Abyss, Floor 9 and 10 receives an overhaul to its enemy compositions, this year’s Fontaine update also marks the new beginning of the Abyss. The Nation of Hydro excels in mechanical engineering and has an abundance of sea life, including but not limited to Sea Crabs and Specialist Mek. This is why starting in Version 4.0, those enemies are now replacing Sumeru’s resident enemies to face players daring enough to challenge the Spiral Abyss.

Alongside regular enemies like the Meks and Fontainian Sea Lifes, some dangerous Bosses await players on the deepest part of the Abyss. Unlike in Floor 9 and 10, the latter part of the content always gets updated once every 1.5 months to reflect on the current Version, and in Version 4.1, you will face two new tough Bosses introduced alongside the new update, the Experimental Field Generator and the Millennial Pearl Seahorse, both of which can end your team’s perfect runs if you are not careful.

Floor 9

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its own unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 9:

After a character triggers a Vaporize reaction, the Vaporize reaction DMG for that character is increased by 50% for 5s.

The floor buff for Floor 9 increases the damage of the Vaporize reaction dealt by characters to enemies. Vaporize damage is a combination of Pyro and Hydro. Some teams benefit from this buff in a certain half of the floor, while others are useless, based on the enemies we will see later.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The first half of Chamber 1 consists of two waves of enemies, including new mechs from Fontaine, Nobushi, and Treasure Hoarders. The enemies in the first wave are positioned in the front and back of the center, with the Pyro Treasure Hoarders and a meka in the front and the Hydro Treasure Hoarders in the back. To defeat this wave of all ranged enemies, move behind the enemies on one side of the center, either the front or the back. This way, the enemies on the other side will move closer to the center and will be easier to group.

The enemies in the second wave will spawn on the left and right sides of the center. There will be 3 mechs on the left and 3 Nobushis on the right. Since the Nobushis will dash toward you, focus on the mech in the middle as it can kill you quickly. If you bring a crowd control (CC) unit such as Venti, Kazuha, or Sucrose, you can easily group the enemies in the center and finish them off.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 1.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 1 also consists of two waves of enemies, mostly the same as from the first half with the addition of a new mech and Treasure Hoarder in different elements. Unlike the first half, where the enemies were positioned far away from each other, both waves spawned the enemies in front of the center. For the first wave, you can focus on Nobushi: Kikouban (leftmost enemy) since he is the only one with a ranged move set (Shooting with an electro gun).

For the second wave, since all enemies have a ranged move set, you can focus on destroying both Treasure Hoarders since they have the least HP and their attacks can disturb you since they linger on the field for a while.

Chamber 2, First Half

The first half of Chamber 2 consists of two waves. The enemies are the new Cryo Sea Hare from Fontaine, Slimes, Hydro Boar Mimic, Treasure Hoarders, and Fontaine Meks. The Sea Hares and Specialist Mek are modified for Spiral Abyss. For the Sea Hares, the attack will be more frequent and powerful whereas for the Specialist Mek, it will spawn another Meka. The spawned enemy doesn’t have to be destroyed but destroying it will help you greatly.

Same as the first half of Chamber 1, enemies are positioned far away from each other on different sides. If you don’t have a CC unit, focusing on Sea Hares and boar is better on the first wave since the slimes will move to you. For wave 2, focus on the Treasure Hoarders since the Mek will chase you. Another restriction is that you can’t bring Hydro and Cryo-focused teams since they will not be able to kill the Slimes and the Boar Mimic.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 2.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 2.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half also consists of two waves. The enemies are the new Pyro Crabs from Fontaine, Slimes, Treasure Hoarders, and a Mek. The modification for each enemy (Sternshield Crab and Specialist Mek) is the same as the previous half. What’s different from Chamber 1 is that the enemies are positioned far away from each other just like in the first half. For the first wave, you can focus on the Crabs since the Slimes will chase you.

On the second wave, focus on the Treasure Hoarders just like in the first half since the Mek will chase you too. A CC unit will have an easier time since they can just group all the enemies. Another restriction is that Pyro-focused teams will have a hard time destroying the Pyro Slimes and Crab’s shield.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 consists of two waves. The enemies are Mitachurls, Specialist Mek, and Mirror Maiden. Different from previous chambers, this chamber has a Hydro Ousia amplifier that will apply Hydro to enemies. Using this amplifier to create a Vaporize reaction will be advantageous since the Pyro character doesn’t need Hydro characters to apply Hydro for a Vaporize reaction.

An amplifier will apply an element to all enemies at certain intervals. The enemies affected will have higher damage resistant to that element. The element can be removed using reactions. New Ousia and Pneuma Amplifier can be disabled by using their reversed Arkhe (Ousia disabled by Pneuma and Pneuma disabled by Ousia).

On the first wave, both Mitachurls will spawn on the front and will charge at you straight away. On the second wave, you can focus on the Mirror Maiden since she tends to teleport around. One way to avoid that is to dodge every attack from the Mirror Maiden so she can’t mark your character.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 9 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 consists of only one wave. The enemies are Pyro Agents and Specialist Mek. The enemies are positioned far away from each other. However, since they are all melee enemies, they will chase you. Focusing on the Specialist Mek will be easier since it still has ranged move sets. Another thing to watch over is the red shadows that the Pyro Agents created. If you allow them to use too many red shadows, then they can use a move set that will deal a ton of damage and stun-lock your character if you don’t have a shield.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Floor 9, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These teams range from On-Field Vaporize Team, Freeze Team, and Hyperbloom Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, On-Field Vaporize for the First Half, and then you must use the Nilou Bloom Team for the Second Half), this list is only a general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 9.

First Half

On-Field Vaporize Team

Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, and Klee are examples of on-field Pyro DPS for the Vaporize team. The team also needs off-field Hydro enablers such as Xingqiu and Yelan to easily trigger Vaporize with the Pyro DPS. One recommended team for this is Hu Tao-Xingqiu-Sucrose/Kazuha-Zhongli. This team easily handles enemies that are far away from each other by using the crowd control (CC) unit while Zhongli and Xingqiu help with defense.

National Team

The National Team core consists of Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett. The last slot can be a flex unit, which is usually an Anemo CC unit such as Sucrose or Kazuha, or a Cryo unit such as Rosaria or Chongyun. For Floor 9, using the Anemo unit as a flex unit can help in grouping enemies easily. However, the disadvantage of National Teams is the need for Constellations, as the units need them to perform optimally. The minimum Constellations are C4 for Xiangling and C2 for Xingqiu.

Mono-Pyro Team

Lyney is a character that is designed to be played in a mono-Pyro team. This is a simple-to-play team with a lot of damage. However, the Vaporize buff from the floor does not have much presence here since some enemies cannot be vaporized. Another replacement for Lyney is another on-field Pyro DPS such as Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, or Klee.

Second Half

Nilou Bloom Team

The Nilou Bloom Team is very strict, in which you must only use Hydro and Dendro characters. In return, it can deal very high damage, especially when there are multiple enemies on the field. Since every chamber on Floor 9 has multiple enemies, this team is very effective at destroying them quickly and easily.

Hyperbloom Team

The Hyperbloom Team has a core of Dendro, Electro, and Hydro characters. The best Dendro enablers for this team are Nahida and Dendro Traveler. The best Electro characters are Raiden Shogun and Kuki Shinobu. Meanwhile, the best Hydro characters are Neuvillette, Xingqiu, and Yelan. The last slot can be a flex unit, which is usually another Hydro or Electro character, or an Anemo CC unit.

Freeze Team

The Freeze Team consists of a Cryo on-field DPS, Hydro off-field enabler, and Anemo CC unit. Using this team is very convenient, as you will keep Freezing the enemies, rendering them unable to attack you. The best Cryo on-field DPS characters are Ayaka and Ganyu. The best Hydro off-field enablers are Mona and Kokomi. Lastly, for the Anemo CC unit, you can use Venti. You can fill the last slot with another Cryo character, such as Diona or Shenhe, for battery and buffs.

Floor 10

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its own unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 10:

Character deals 50% increased DMG to opponents affected by Hydro.

The Floor Buff for Floor 10 increases all damage to Hydro-affected enemies. This means that having a Hydro character or a team that revolves around Hydro characters will be beneficial.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The first half of Chamber 1 consists of one wave of enemies, including Fatui Pyroslingers, Treasure Hoarders, and a Nimble Harvester Mek. While the Treasure Hoarders’ positions are far away from each other, you do not necessarily need to use a grouper since they will chase you, except for the one that throws sand at you. For this half, focus on killing the Pyroslingers since they are range-type enemies that will position themselves farther away from your characters.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 1.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 1 also consists of one wave of enemies, all mechs from Fontaine, positioned in front of the center. You can either defeat the smaller mechs first or focus on the large Construction Specialist Mek while damaging the smaller Geological Mechs if you are using an AoE character. The Construction Specialist Mek will move around everywhere, so you can either chase it or defeat the smaller mechs while it is away from you.

Chamber 2, First Half

The first half of Chamber 2 consists of two waves of enemies: Specters and Mushrooms. For the first wave, focus on the Dendro Spectre or Electro Spectre, as the Pyro Spectre will teleport behind you if it is far away.

For the second wave, focus on killing the Dendro Shroom, as it can fly very high if you are late in attacking it. After attacking the Dendro Shroom, you can attack the Hydro Shroom, as it has an attack that can stagger you for a while.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 2.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 2.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 2 consists of a wave of Vishaps and Vishap Hatchlings. The only thing you need to watch out for is their attack which can drain Burst’s energy. Having a shielder in this chamber will make it easier to fight them.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 consists of a wave of Cryo Eremites and a Geo Eremite. The Geo Eremite in the Abyss will spawn his pet straight away.

Since all of these enemies are melee attackers, focus on the Geo Eremite first, as he has the most HP. Using AoE characters will be very helpful in damaging all of them at the same time.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 10 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 consists of one wave of two Ruin Graders. They are positioned side-by-side in front of you, so you can attack them straight away. There are no tricks to defeating them other than using characters with high damage, both in single target and AoE.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Floor 10, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These include the On-Field Vaporize Team, Hyperfridge Team, and National Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, On-Field Vaporize for the First Half, and then you must use the National Team for the Second Half), this list is only general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 10.

First Half

On-Field Vaporize Team

Hutao, Yoimiya, Diluc, and Klee are all excellent on-field Pyro DPS characters for Vaporize teams. To easily trigger Vaporize reactions with these Pyro DPS characters, you will need off-field Hydro enablers such as Xingqiu and Yelan.

One recommended team for Floor 10 is Hu Tao-Xingqiu-Sucrose/Kazuha-Zhongli. This team can easily handle enemies that are far away from each other by using Sucrose/Kazuha’s CC abilities, while Zhongli and Xingqiu provide defense and healing. Additionally, this team can benefit from the Floor 10 buff, which increases all damage to Hydro-affected enemies.

Freeze Team

A Freeze Team consists of a Cryo on-field DPS character, a Hydro off-field enabler, and an Anemo CC unit. The Cryo on-field DPS character freezes enemies by attacking Hydro-affected enemies, while the Anemo CC unit groups enemies so that they can be hit by the Cryo on-field DPS character’s attacks more easily.

Some examples of Cryo on-field DPS characters include Ayaka and Ganyu, while some examples of Hydro off-field enablers include Mona and Kokomi. The best Anemo CC unit is Venti, but other Anemo characters, such as Sucrose and Kazuha, can also be used.

You can fill the last slot in this Freeze team with another Cryo character, such as Diona or Shenhe. Diona can provide healing and shielding, while Shenhe can buff Cryo damage. Freeze teams are more usable in the first half of Floor 10 than the second half, as the enemies in the second half have heavier bodies and are more difficult to group.

Hyperfridge Team

A Hyperfridge Team is a team that consists of a Dendro character, an Electro character, a Hydro character, and a Cryo character. The best Dendro enablers for Hyperfridge teams are Nahida and Dendro Traveler. As for the Electro character, Raiden Shogun is the optimal pick as she can provide energy to the team and trigger Hyperbloom reactions quickly.

The best Hydro character is Yelan, as she can apply Hydro to enemies off-field and trigger Bloom reactions quickly. The best Cryo character is any character that can apply off-field Cryo, such as Diona, Rosaria, and Kaeya.

The advantage of Hyperfridge teams is that they can create more Bloom seeds than regular Hyperbloom teams, as the Cryo character freezes enemies and prevents them from moving. This allows for the Hydro character to apply Hydro to the enemies more easily, which triggers more Bloom reactions.

Second Half

Nilou Bloom Team

The Nilou Bloom Team is very strict, in which you must only use Hydro and Dendro characters. In return, it can deal very high damage, especially when there are multiple enemies on the field. The second half of Floor 10 is especially good for Nilou teams because the enemies are grouped very close together, so there is no need to manually group them.

National Team

The core of the National Team consists of Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett. The last slot can be a flex unit, which is usually an Anemo CC unit such as Sucrose or Kazuha, or a Cryo unit such as Rosaria or Chongyun.

However, the disadvantage of National Teams is that the higher the constellation of the core characters, the better the team performs. The minimum recommended constellation levels are C4 Xiangling and C2 Xingqiu. The high damage output of the National Team is especially helpful against high-HP enemies, such as the Ruin Graders in the last chamber of Floor 10.

Mono-Geo Team

A Mono-Geo Team consists of Geo characters such as Itto, Gorou, Albedo, and Zhongli. Mono-Geo teams have high damage and are relatively easy to build, as Itto and Noelle only need Defense stats, which are easier to obtain than other stats in Artifact Domains.

However, Mono-Geo teams require Gorou, as he is the “Bennett” for Geo teams. Additionally, Gorou’s Constellations (especially C6) significantly increase the damage of the on-field Geo character.

Floor 11

Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its own unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 11:

All party members receive a 60% Cryo DMG Bonus.
All party members receive a 60% Hydro DMG Bonus.

The Floor 11 buff increases the damage of Cryo and Hydro characters by adding a respective damage bonus. This buff incentivizes the use of Cryo and Hydro teams.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The first half of Chamber 1 consists of a wave of enemies, with additional enemies spawning one by one until there are a maximum of 6 enemies on the field. The enemies are various Eremite characters, including a Hydro Eremite Elite. Floor 11 Chamber 1 is a protect-the-base chamber, so several Eremite characters will focus on attacking you, while the rest will focus on attacking the base.

Having a Crowd Control (CC) unit such as Venti, Kazuha, or Sucrose will make this half much easier. If you do not have a CC unit, you need to focus on attacking the enemies that are targeting the base.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 1.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 1 consists of two waves of enemies, both of which are Geo Lawachurl and Electro Lawachurl. This half is much easier than the first half because both enemies only target you. Additionally, both enemies have move sets that move them very far.

To clear this half easily, simply kite the enemies near any wall and face the base. This way, the Lawachurls will fight facing the wall and their attacks will not hit the base.

Chamber 2, First Half

The first half of Chamber 2 consists of a wave of enemies, with additional enemies spawning one by one until there are a maximum of 6 enemies on the field. The enemies are Specters with various elements except Hydro. All of these Specters except the Dendro ones will move towards you either by teleporting or moving closer slowly.

Therefore, you need to bring an AoE damaging character or CC unit. Additionally, you cannot use Mono Element Teams except for Mono Hydro.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 2.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 2.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 2 also consists of three waves of enemies. The enemies are a series of Ruin enemies, such as a Ruin Guard, a Ruin Grader, and a Ruin Drake. These Ruin enemies spawn one by one in 3 waves and are placed very far away.

After defeating the Ruin Guard, you can go near the spawn position of the Ruin Drake. This is because the Ruin Grader will dash towards you when it is far away from you. This way, you do not need to chase them all.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 consists of three waves of enemies: Slimes, new aquatic enemies, and an Abyss Mage and Breacher Primuses. These enemies incentivize players to bring a Hydro character, but also another element that can react with Electro, such as Dendro, Pyro, or Cryo. This is because Hydro alone cannot break the Seahorse’s Electro shield.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 11 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 consists of one wave of enemies, both of which are Local Legends: Tainted Phantasms.

These enemies have high HP and cannot be frozen. The melee Tainted Phantasm is in the front, and the ranged Tainted Phantasm is in the back. Therefore, focus on attacking the ranged Tainted Phantasm first after starting the chamber, because the melee Tainted Phantasm will move towards you and they will be grouped.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impact‘s Spiral Abyss Floor 11, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These include the Aggravate/Spread Team, Hyperbloom Team, and National Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, Aggravate/Spread for the First Half, and then you must use the Hyperbloom Team for the Second Half), this list is only general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 11.

First Half

Freeze Team

Once again, the Freeze Team gets a spotlight in the current Spiral Abyss simply because of how convenient this team is. Especially on Floor 11, where the Ley Lines buff increases Cryo and Hydro damage by 60%.

You can keep using the previous two Floors’ Freeze Team compositions without changing anything. This means that for Floor 11, one of the best teams in the first half consists of Ayaka/Ganyu, Mona/Kokomi, Diona/Shenhe, and Venti/Kazuha.

This team is still okay in the first half because Xingqiu still contributes a lot of damage to the team. He and the Anemo unit can handle the Pyro Specters and Slimes, which are immune to Pyro. In other words, even though the team has a Pyro DPS character, they can still defeat Pyro Specters and Slimes because of Xingqiu’s Hydro damage and the Anemo unit’s ability to Swirl elements.

Aggravate and Spread Team

Aggravate and Spread Team cores consist of a Dendro DPS and an Electro DPS. If the main damage comes from the Electro character, it is an Aggravate team. If the main source of damage comes from the Dendro character, it switches into a Spread team.

Some Electro DPS characters you can use here include Keqing, Yae Miko, and Raiden Shogun. While some Dendro characters that are perfect for Floor 11 include Alhaitham, Tighnari, and Nahida.

Aggravate teams are good for Floor 11 because the main source of damage is divided between Dendro and Electro. So, even when fighting Dendro Specters and Electro Specters, which are immune to their respective elements, they will still be damaged by the other element.

Second Half

Nilou Bloom Team

The Nilou Bloom Team is very strict, in which you must only use Hydro and Dendro characters. In return, it can deal very high damage, especially when there are multiple enemies on the field.

One main weakness of using this Nilou Team for Floor 11 is the need for a Dendro character with high damage, such as Nahida, to help clear the enemies faster with her damage increase buff for her allies.

Hyperbloom Team

The Hyperbloom Team has a core of Dendro, Electro, and Hydro characters. The best Dendro enablers for this team are Nahida and the Dendro Traveler. The best Electro characters are Raiden Shogun and Kuki Shinobu. Kokomi, Xinqiu, and Yelan are among the best Hydro characters you can use for this team. The last slot can be a flex unit, which is usually another Hydro or Electro character, or an Anemo CC unit.

Hyperbloom teams have high single-target damage, which makes them thrive in Spiral Abyss’ Floor 11’s Second Half. Additionally, the Hydro damage bonus from the floor buff makes this team even stronger.

On-Field Vaporize Team

The On-Field Vaporize Team makes a return as a solid option for this Abyssal rotation’s Floor 11’s Second Half.

Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, and Klee are examples of on-field Pyro DPS characters for Vaporize teams. These teams require off-field Hydro enablers such as Xingqiu and Yelan to easily trigger Vaporize with the Pyro DPS character.

One recommended team for this is Hu Tao-Xingqiu-Sucrose/Kazuha-Zhongli. This team can easily handle enemies that are far away from each other by using the CC unit (Sucrose or Kazuha), while Zhongli and Xingqiu provide defense. Just like Hyperbloom Teams, this team tends to have high single-target damage, especially in this last chamber of the Abyss, where they do not need a Hydro character to create a Vaporize reaction.

Floor 12

Finally, we reach the final step in this Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss guide. The penultimate challenge for all players, Floor 12 is the epitome of difficulty that requires skills, focus, and determination to successfully gain the full 9 Stars. Every Spiral Abyss floor in Genshin Impact has its own unique Ley Lines buff that can help you create the optimal team for that floor. For this Abyssal rotation, the following effect will occur on Floor 12:

For this floor only, the ley line flow will be normal.

There is no floor buff for Floor 12, so there will be no advantage in using certain teams for this floor.

Enemy Data

Chamber 1, First Half

The first half of Chamber 1 consists of a wave with the new Millennial Pearl Seahorse boss. This boss spawns with an Electro shield that is very difficult to break. Additionally, the shield’s hitbox is small, so it is necessary to hit the boss from the front to damage its shield.

Pyro, Cryo, and Dendro are the best elements to destroy its shield. However, it is necessary to bring more than one of these elements (either the same element or a combination of different elements) or use an Anemo character that can leave off-field infusions, such as Sucrose, Kazuha, Venti, or Jean, to help destroy the shield. After destroying the shield, the boss will be stunned for a few seconds. However, this enemy still has a lot of resistance to Electro damage even after its shield has been destroyed.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 1.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 1.

Chamber 1, Second Half

The first wave of this Second Half consists of Geo Rifthounds with additional Electro Rifthounds spawning each time an enemy is defeated. Since the Rifthounds have Corrosion damage that can bypass shields, having a healer will be very helpful in keeping your team alive. Since the Rifthounds will chase you, it is easier to position yourself for the next wave before finishing the last Rifthound.

Meanwhile, the second wave consists of three Pyro Mages in a triangular formation. Having a high AoE Hydro application character such as Neuvillette, Ayato, or Childe will be helpful in breaking their shields. You can also group the Abyss Mages by positioning yourself furthest away from them. If they are too far from your character, they will teleport to where your character is facing if there is space to teleport. If not, their teleportation will fail and they will stay in the same place.

Chamber 2, First Half

The first half of Chamber 2 consists of two waves of enemies: Bathysmal Vishaps and Fontaine Meks. This half is very straightforward, and you can defeat the enemies without having to do any special setup.

For the second wave, it is easier to focus on defeating the Suppression Specialist Mek first, since the Construction Specialist Mek will move around the map and the Suppression Specialist Mek can easily shoot you if you focus on chasing the Construction Mek.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 2.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 2.

Chamber 2, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 2 consists of a wave against Coppelia, the Anemo version of the Icewind Suite where we fight the woman dancer robot instead of the man. Coppelia is annoying to fight with melee characters because she has move sets that push you away from her every few seconds, even if your character is in Burst animation.

Additionally, you have to watch out for the Cryo slash from the man-dancer robot when he is dancing around the Abyss. It is easier to have ranged characters such as Yoimiya or Neuvillette, and a shield character such as Zhongli.

Chamber 3, First Half

The first half of Chamber 3 consists of two waves of enemies: Mirror Maiden and New Wind Operatives. Fighting against the Mirror Maiden is straightforward since she is alone in the first wave. However, her teleporting can be annoying to deal with, so try to dodge her attacks as hard as possible to avoid being marked by her.

The second wave consists of two Wind Operatives. They are ranged enemies with high HP and are difficult to group. Bringing a Crowd Control (CC) unit such as Sucrose, Kazuha, or Venti will make this chamber easier. Using Jean can also help by throwing one operative to the other to group them.

One way to group them is to trigger their teleport move set by shooting them when they have their Wind Shield up. Other than using a bow character, you can hit them with anything that doesn’t taunt, such as Xiangling’s Guoba or Fischl’s Oz, as shown in this video, however, doing this requires some practice to execute.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 3.

Enemies in Floor 12 Chamber 3.

Chamber 3, Second Half

The second half of Chamber 3 consists of one wave with the new Experimental Field Generator boss. This boss’s Abyss version starts its anti-gravitational field immediately after starting the battle. Since its shockwave deals a lot of damage, it is easier to dodge it or use large shields such as Zhongli’s shield.

Its shockwave pattern after starting the field is three slow shockwaves. Before ending the anti-gravitational field, it will deal another two slow shockwaves followed by three fast shockwaves.

One other way to deal with it is by applying Ousia to its center gear twice. Hitting it twice will stun the boss and stop the anti-gravitational field.

Recommended Team Compositions

After we’re talking about the enemy waves that we’re about to face in Genshin Impacts Spiral Abyss Floor 12, the next part of this guide will explain some possible teams that you can bring to gain complete and flawless victory. These include the Taser Team, Spread Team, and National Team.

Keep in mind that the teams that are recommended for each half are not necessarily required to be used in tandem (for example, Spread for the First Half, and then you must use the Hyperbloom Team for the Second Half), this list is only general guidance to provide you more team options in tackling the current Spiral Abyss’ Floor 12.

First Half

On-Field Vaporize Team

Once again, the Freeze Team gets a spotlight in the current Spiral Abyss simply because of how convenient this team is.

Hu Tao is a very strong rate-up character in the first half of the Spiral Abyss’ Floor 12. She is not only able to deal a lot of damage to the Millennial Pearl Seahorse boss in the first chamber, but she can also handle small groups of enemies with her Charge Attack. Adding a Crowd Control (CC) unit such as Sucrose or Kazuha to help her group the Wind Operatives in the last chamber will make the run easier.

Freeze Team

Freeze teams consist of a Cryo on-field character, a Hydro off-field enabler, and an Anemo CC unit. Using this team is very convenient because the enemies are frozen and cannot attack you. The best Cryo on-field characters are Ayaka and Ganyu. Mona and Kokomi are solid picks for the Hydro off-field characters. The best Anemo CC unit is Venti. The last slot can be filled with another Cryo character such as Diona or Shenhe for battery and buff.

Freeze teams thrive in Floor 12’s first half because they can group and freeze the enemies, rendering them useless. However, this team requires great setup and skill usage to defeat the Millennial Pearl Seahorse boss in the first chamber. The rest of the chambers are relatively easy because all the enemies are freezeable.

Spread Team

The core of a Spread team consists of a Dendro DPS character and an Electro off-field applicator. Some Dendro DPS characters include Alhaitham, Tighnari, and Nahida. Spread teams are strong against the Millennial Pearl Seahorse boss, especially if you use an on-field Dendro DPS character such as Tighnari or Alhaitham combined with Nahida. They apply a lot of Dendro, which easily breaks the boss’s shield.

Spread teams are also good in AoE situations, especially if you bring a Crowd Control (CC) unit such as Kazuha, Sucrose, or Venti.

All of these teams are heavily focused on the first Chamber’s first half, where you must battle the Millennial Pearl Seahorse boss, as that one is a tough nut to crack, requiring specific team compositions and a good setup to beat the boss. Moreover, the next two Chambers are relatively easy, so they are not the main focus for the current Abyssal rotation.

Second Half

Hyperbloom Team

It’s not complete without again mentioning the Hyperbloom Team composition. These teams are so good against the current Abyss’ Floor 12 that it’s better to run this team than the other two options below. You can use Nahida/Dendro Traveler, Raiden Shogun/Kuki Shinobu, Neuvillette/Xingqiu/Yelan, and a flexible unit, preferably another Hydro/Electro character or an Anemo CC unit.

Hyperbloom Teams have high single-target damage, which makes them thrive in the second half. However, using Kuki Shinobu instead of Raiden Shogun can be a bit annoying against Coppelia, since the Bloom seeds will drop around her. If she pushes you back, Kuki’s Electro ring cannot hit the seeds around her.

Since the National Team deals a lot of damage, it is still capable in Floor 12’s first and second half. However, you need to be careful of the Cryo Slash attack from Coppelius (the male robot dancer), since it can deal Melt damage when you are under the effect of Bennett’s Burst.

Taser Team

The core of a Taser team consists of Hydro and Electro characters. Taser teams are most effective in the first chamber of the Spiral Abyss because it has a lot of enemies grouped together.

For this floor, it is necessary to have high DPS characters such as Neuvillette and Fischl to help fight the bosses in the other chambers.
