Genshin Impact: How To Unlock Every New Sumeru Crafted Weapon

Genshin Impact Version 3.0 has bought with it the next new mainline region: Sumeru. Alongside that, 5 new craftable weapons have been added to the game that players will certainly want to get their hands on. Figuring out how to unlock them can be tough, however, so here's how to unlock all the new weapons and how to craft them.

Genshin Impact: How To Unlock Every New Sumeru Crafted Weapon

Version 3.0 of Genshin Impact is here and it has bought some brand newly crafted weapons with it. In Genshin Impact crafted weapons are items you can make at the Blacksmith when you have acquired their necessary blueprint. Previous weapons have included the Prototype series, Whiteblind, Iron Sting and more.

Now, Sumeru has its own suite of crafted weapons. These weapons are all based on the rainforest surrounding much of Sumeru’s landscapes. Each has abilities that cater very well to Dendro characters (with a high focus on Elemental Mastery). Previously, many craftable weapons have been obtainable through quests, such as the Inazuma series of weapons. However, Sumeru’s can be a bit difficult to find, as they are very off the beaten trail and you don’t go here in the main story.

So here’s how you unlock access to every new craftable Sumeru weapon in Version 3.0 of Genshin Impact.

How to Start the Arankaya Questline

The main quest that you will need to undertake to gain access to Sumeru’s crafted weapons in Genshin Impact is called Arankaya. This is a multistage quest that you can find and go through as you explore Sumeru. Arankaya is a very important world quest as it will open up new areas of the map for you, give you more tools to explore and grant you further opportunities for more side-quests. It could be likened to the Sacred Sakura Cleansing questline from Inazuma.

To start this quest, you don’t need to be that far into the main Sumeru Archon quest for it to unlock. Just past Ghandarva Ville where you meet Tighnari and Collei for the first time, you’ll find a path up to Sumeru City. There should be a teleport waypoint by a cliff face that is close to a waterfall. Around this area, you should see a blue quest marker appear on your map. Follow it and you’ll find a young Forest Watcher being attacked by 3 Fungi monsters.

Once you defeat them, a cutscene will play where you are introduced to this character. Her name is Rana and she comes from nearby here and is a seasoned Forest Watcher. You agree to help her out with a few things as thanks and this will begin the Arankaya Questline – Part 1.

Complete Step 1 of the Arankaya Questline

The next thing you will need to do is actually complete the first set of quests in the Arankaya quest line. This involves following Rana through several different parts of Sumeru, clearing a few Withering Zones and even visiting her hometown of Vimara Village. Children are disappearing when they enter the forest, only to show up a few days later completely fine (albeit with their memories gone). You aim to try and help Raya figure out what is going on in the village and with the children.

It’s at this point that you should realise that this quest chain is about the Aranara, the small forest-dwelling creatures that you should have gotten a glimpse of in the main Archon quest. You may have even seen them about the place during exploration. These little guys are a big part of Sumeru’s world and storytelling, so doing this set of quests will aid you in exploring the world much better.

Eventually you will go to take on a Withering Zone and scouting location outside of the village with Rana. Here, you’ll see one of the children has escaped into the forest and that they are almost captured by some evil Fungi. Rana risks exposing herself to the Withering in order to save him. The first part of the quest should conclude with you finding Rana trapped in a Dendro bubble before being greeted by an Aranara yourself. This ends part 1 of the Arankaya quest line.

Reach Vanarana

Part 2 of the Genshin Impact Arankaya quest chain is when you can finally get access to these new Sumeru crafted weapons. At the start of the quest, you will be asked by an Aranara to go and get a special instrument from one of Raya’s family members so that she may be freed from the Dendro protection she is under. This individual is her grandfather and he’ll give you a Mondstadt-like lyre.

This lyre will be used in exploration puzzles and to further the questline so it is very important. You will gradually learn more and more songs on the lyre as you continue the quest, those songs increasing the number of things you can explore outside of it.

After collecting the lyre you will be ferried very far away upstream until you reach the Vissudha Field area of Sumeru. Embark towards the quest markers and eventually, you’ll find yourself in a new area called Vanarana – this area will be blocked off on the map right now so you won’t see where you’re going.

Once there, you will need to complete a series of challenges with your lyre to progress the quest. Then, you will play that same song in front of a special seed. Doing so transports you to the realm of Dream – to the real Vanarana.

Now you will find a bunch of small Aranara waiting around in this other world (as well as the Statue of the Seven for this area). Follow the rest of the quest until you meet Araja, the leader of the Aranara.

Following this, you will be given several different objectives to complete for the Aranara to continue onwards and create the Bija. However, we don’t care about those right now. Instead, we are looking for a specific quest from one of the Aranara called Trees and Dreams.

Unlocking the Tree of Dreams

One of the Aranara gives you this quest and it is very important. It is responsible for unlocking the Sumeru equivalent to the Sakura Tree in Inazuma.

Simply accept the quest and then follow the quest markers that it gives you past Araja’s house. This will lead you to a small cave at the back that you must follow through. There will be stamina flowers lining the walls so you can make a full spring down.

Once you make it down there you will find the Tree of Dreams and the quest will complete itself. Now you can trade in your Dendro Sigils for new rewards and ranks at the Tree, including Fates, Billets, level-up materials and more.

After you have unlocked the Tree, it is finally time to unlock those crafted weapons.

Purchasing the Sumeru Blueprints

Go back to the Vanarana of Dreams and make your way to the Tree of Dreams. When you get there, look around and you will find a small Aranara by the name of Aravinay. This is your vendor for the blueprints.

Talk to him and you can purchase the blueprints for the Sumeru-crafted weapons in Genshin Impact. However, they want a special kind of currency called Memories. The first time you speak to them, you will likely only have 1 of these Memories, so you can only purchase one of these weapon blueprints.

To get more Memories you need to complete more of the Arankaya quest line, which now branches off into different paths and different sub-quests. As you complete more and more of this quest, you will receive more Memories and you’ll eventually be able to purchase them all. You will likely need to complete all of the Aranara major side quests in order to get every memory. This includes quests with a unique category in the quest tab such as the Apam Woods questline.

So that’s how you get the blueprints for every Sumeru-crafted weapon, but what about making them?

Crafting Sumeru Weapons

Just like with other weapon types, you’ll need a blueprint and the necessary materials to make one of these weapons at the Blacksmith. Sumer’s weapons are a bit special though.

These weapons need a new kind of Billet known as a Northlander Billet. These are Black versions of the normal Billets, which are usually whitish-gold. These have the chance to drop from Sumeru bosses but don’t fret if you do not have any right now.

By going to the Alchemy Table and going to the transmute page, you can turn your regular Billets into the new Northlander Billets using the same material used to change Boss materials. You’ll need enough Billets to do this, of course, but it’s an easy way to get yourself the new weapons.

Each weapon requires the following materials to make:

  • Northlander Billet of that weapon type
  • 50 Crystal Chunks
  • 50 White Iron Chunks

If you have all of these, say hello to your brand-new weapon.

All Sumeru Crafted Weapons

Now that you know how to make them, which weapon should you choose? Well here’s every Genshin Impact Sumeru-crafted weapon so you can decide for yourself.

King’s Squire (Bow)

The King’s Squire is the Sumeru Bow. It natively increases ATK by up to 55% at level 90.

The skill on the weapon states that the equipped character will gain the Teachings of the Forest buff when they cast an Elemental Burst or an Elemental Skill. This buff increases Elemental Mastery by up to 140 points (at refinement 5) for 12 seconds. When the character leaves the field or the buff runs out, they will detonate for up to 180% of their ATK in an area around them.

This is a great Bow for either of the new Dendro Bow wielders, Tighnari or Collei.

Forest Regalia (Claymore)

The Forest Regalia is the Sumeru Claymore. It natively increases Energy Recharge by up to 30% at level 90.

Forest Regalia’s skill states that after triggering any Dendro Reaction, a Leaf of Consciousness will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 60 Elemental Mastery for 12s. This effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the field and the Leaf of Consciousness’ effect cannot stack.

This seems like a good pick for any Electro or Pyro character currently in a Dendro reaction team (such as Razor) and it looks like it may be a good fit for the upcoming 4-star Dori.

Moonpiercer (Polearm)

The Moonpiercer is the Sumeru Polearm. It natively increases Elemental Mastery by up to 110 points.

Moonpiercer’s skill is similar to the Forest Regalia or Sapwood Blade. After triggering a Dendro reaction, a Leaf of Revival will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 16% ATK for 12s. Only 1 Leaf can be generated this way and this effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the field.

Sapwood Blade (Sword)

The Sapwood Blade is the sword of Sumeru. It natively increases Energy Recharge up to 30% at level 90.

The skill of the Sapwood Blade is the same as the Forest Regalia. After triggering any Dendro Reaction, a Leaf of Consciousness will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 60 Elemental Mastery for 12s. This effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the field and the Leaf of Consciousness’ effect cannot stack.

This is a very good pick for Dendro Traveller, who is already quite strong but with this sword, they could be even better.

Fruit of Fulfilment (Catalyst)

Finally, the Fruit of Fulfilment is the Sumeru Catalyst. It natively increases Energy Recharge by 45%.

The Fruit of Fulfilment’s skill is that you obtain the Wax and Wane buff after any Elemental Reaction is triggered. You gain 24 Elemental Mastery while losing 5% of your ATK. For every 0.3s, 1 stack of Wax and Wane can be gained up to a maximum of 5 stacks. For every 6s that go by without an Elemental Reaction being triggered, 1 stack will be lost.

That’s how to unlock every Sumeru-crafted weapon in Version 3.0 of Genshin Impact.
