Genshin Impact Emilie Build Guide | Best Weapons, Artifacts, Teams

With only one more update before we touch down in the nation of Natlan, Genshin Impact has one final surprise from Fontaine waiting for us and that’s Emilie, the famed perfumer of the Nation of Justice. Emilie is incredibly talented, using her gift for scents to operate an extremely influential perfume business while also aiding in criminal investigations. She’s an aloof figure we’ve heard about from a few characters such as Chiori and Chevreuse and, in 4.8, we’ll finally get to meet her.

Emilie is a 5-star Dendro Polearm and she has a very interesting, and very niche, playstyle built around the Burning Reaction. Compared to Spread, Aggravate, or even Bloom, Burning has always been the weakest Dendro Elemental Reaction and Emilie seeks to change that. With incredible off-field Dendro DMG and application paired with a massive amount of bonuses for reliably triggering Burn, Emilie fills a very unique niche.

Here’s how to make the best Emilie build in Genshin Impact. This guide will go over Emilie’s kit and Talents as well as what Artifact sets and weapons work best on her and what premium or F2P teams you can run her in.

Emilie Release Date and Banner Availability

First things first, before we dive into Emilie’s kit and ascension materials, let’s go over her banner availability in Version 4.8. Emilie is the only new 5-star unit of Version 4.8 and the headlining act of Phase 2. Her banner companion for this version is the sly Yelan.

Emilie’s Limited Character Wish, “Ambrosial Essence” begins on August 6th when Phase 2 of Version 4.8 begins and will last until the end of 4.8 on August 27th. When you pull a 5-star character on the Ambrosial Essence banner, it has a 50% chance of being Emilie. If you don’t get Emilie and get one of the Standard units, instead, then your next 5-star is guaranteed to be her. Additionally, Xiangling, Yanfei, and Razor all feature as rate-up 4 stars on both Emilie’s and Yelan’s Wishes.

Because Emilie is a limited unit in Genshin Impact, she will become unavailable to freely earn once her banner goes away at the end of Version 4.8. In the future, if you’d like to add Fontaine’s famed perfumer to your roster, you’ll need to wait until Emilie gets her first rerun, which usually happens about 6 months after their initial release.

Emilie Materials

  • Lakelight Lily x168 (Fontaine Local Speciality)
  • Meshing Gear x18 / Mechanical Spur Gear x30 / Artificed Dynamic Gear x36 (Enemy Drops)
  • Fragment of a Golden Memory x46 (World Boss Material)
  • Nagadus Emerald Sliver / Nagadus Emerald Fragment x9 / Nagadus Emerald Chunk x9 / Nagadus Emerald Gemstone x6 (Elemental Gemstones)
  • 420k Mora + 416 Hero’s Wit EXP Books

The most arduous ascension material Emilie needs is Lakelight Lillies, a rare kind of Fontaine speciality which only grows in the Erinnyes region of Fontaine. These small blue flowers look like a spout of water and you can find a total of 78 in the open world. You can also purchase a one-time batch of 15 Lakelight Lillies from the Melusine Pahsiv, but only after you complete her World Quest, The Fairy of Erinnyes. To better help your hunt for the Lakelights, use either the Teyvat Interactive Map or run around with Clorinde.

Another staple material native to Fontaine is the Gear series of enemy drops. All of the Gear drops come from slain Clockwork Mekas, the robotic creations who stalk all areas of Fontaine. While it’s easy enough to just stumble around the Fontaine highlands, the best way to track down the Mekas is to use the Adventure’s Handbook which will guide you to large groups of Clockwork soldiers all over the nation.

Lastly, Emilie will need a large amount of Fragments of a Golden Memory, the World Boss material of the Legatus Golem. The Golem is a unique centaur creature of stone which is hiding below Petrichor on Fontaine’s southern border. It will assail you with a barrage of attacks while defending itself with a strong Geo shield. Emilie will need 46 Fragments to complete her ascension, which is, at least, 600 Resin

Genshin Impact Emilie Kit Overview

Normal Attack: Shadow-Hunting Spear

Emilie’s Normal Attack string is Shadow-Hunting Spear. She can perform up to four consecutive spear strikes in a slow, but composed, manner, whereas her Charged Attack will consume a small amount of Stamina to perform a powerful upward slash.

Emilie is an off-field Dendro DPS whose main damage output is her Skill and Ultimate, leaving her Normal Attack in an odd spot. Compared to her other abilities, Emilie’s Normal Attacks are pitifully weak and can’t even instantly trigger Reactions like Catalyst off-fields such as Yae Miko. In short, Emilie’s Normal Attacks are pretty pointless and you won’t be using them a lot, even if they do look very pretty.

Elemental Skill: Fragrance Extraction

Fragrance Extraction, Emilie’s Elemental Skill, is where her potential as an incredibly powerful Dendro off-fielder becomes apparent. When cast, Emilie will create a Lumidouce Case at her current location for 22 seconds which will remain on-field even after Emilie switches out. Only one Lumidouce Case can exist at any one time.

The Lumidouce Case has two levels and will begin at Level 1 where it will fire Puffs of Puredew at any nearby opponents, dealing AoE Dendro DMG. Whenever any nearby enemies are affected by the Burning Reaction, they will release Scents which are automatically collected by the Lumidouce Case. Once two Scents have been absorbed, the Lumidouce Case will grow to Level 2, allowing it to fire double the amount of Puffs of Puredew at one time. If the Lumidouce Case doesn’t absorb a new Scent for 8s, it will regress to Level 1.

Burning isn’t the strongest or most impactful Elemental Reaction in Dendro’s arsenal but it is one of the easiest to activate and Emilie’s skill leverages that ease of use to turn her into a powerful off-fielder, with her Lumidouce Cases being simple, effective and long-lasting. It’s worth mentioning as well that Emilie’s damage doesn’t scale off of the Burn damage directly but merely the existence of it: so long as there is a Burning target nearby, they will create Scents for Emilie’s Lumidouce Case regardless of how powerful the Burning tick damage actually is.

Elemental Burst: Aromatic Explication

Emilie’s Elemental Burst, Aromatic Explication, can be summarised as a supercharged version of her Elemental Skill. Once you gather enough Energy, Emilie will guide the fragrances within the case into pure Dendro energy, creating a Level 3 Lumidouce Case and stowing any existing Case (similar to how Dehya’s Burst stows her Skill).

The Level 3 Lumidouce Case is slightly different than either the Level 1 or Level 2 Cases. It doesn’t generate or collect any Scents but, instead, continually spawns Scented Dew which will descend and deal heavy Dendro DMG to opponents within range. The Level 3 Lumidouce Case will remain on-field for 13 seconds, after which it will disappear and deploy a Level 1 Lumidouce Case; alternatively, if a Lumidouce Case was stowed away during Aromatic Explication, that Lumidouce Case will return to the field with its duration reset.

Every positive thing about Emilie’s Skill is also true for her Burst. The off-field Dendro DMG and application are excellent, especially if you want to prock constant Reactions on multiple targets, and with a relatively low Energy Cost, it will be easy for Emilie to have high Burst uptime. Once again, the Level 3 Lumidouce Case is just masterfully simple and very potent.

Emilie’s Passive Talents

Emilie’s first Passive Talent is Headspace Capture, which is immediately available at Ascension Level 1. Whenever a Lumidouce Case produced by Emilie is on the field, all party members gain 85% Pyro RES against Burning DMG. Aside from having low overall damage compared to Dendro’s other heavy hitters, one of Burn’s biggest downsides is that it can hurt both friend and foe, especially in grassy areas which catch fire easily. This Talent just makes it so that you can run a competent Burning team.

Meanwhile, at Character Ascension 2, Emilie will gain the Lingering Fragrance Talent. Each time a Level 2 Lumidouce Case collects 2 Scents, it will consume those Scents and release Cleardew Cologne that deals AoE Dendro DMG equal to 600% of Emilie’s ATK to opponents. The Lumidouce Cases were already very strong sources of off-field damage but this Talent just takes it to a whole other level, especially because it doesn’t have a hard cooldown: if you can generate a lot of scents, then Emilie is capable of dealing ludicrous amounts of damage.

Lastly, once Emilie hits Character Ascension Level 4, she unlocks the Retrification Passive, allowing Emilie to deal increased DMG to Burning opponents based on her ATK. Every 1,000 ATK increases Emilie’s DMG dealt by 15% and the maximum DMG bonus that can be gained this way is 36% (or roughly 2,500 ATK). Emilie scales purely off of ATK and CRIT so reaching that 36% threshold should be relatively easy, giving you an even bigger incentive to run a Burn comp with Emilie at its core as you’ll be benefitting from so many free and easy bonuses.

Emilie Talent Priority

  1. Fragrance Extraction (Elemental Skill)
  2. Aromatic Explication (Elemental Burst)
  3. Shadow-Hunting Spear (Normal Attack)

The Talent you should prioritise above all others is Emilie’s Elemental Skill, Fragrance Extraction. Not only is it the ability with the highest uptime (the Cases lasts for 22s while the Skill itself only has a 14s cooldown) but it is also the most synergistic part of her entire kit. It deals great damage on its own, incentivises you to lean into Burn as a viable Reaction, enables you to use the Cleardew Cologne from her A2 Passive, and is honestly just very easy to use. Fragrance Extraction is the core of Emilie’s kit and shouldn’t be the priority target.

In close second place is Aromatic Explication, Emilie’s Burst. While it isn’t as synergistic as her Skill – largely due to the lack of Scent generation and because it cannot produce Cleardew Cologne – it’s her best source of rapid Dendro DMG and application, allowing you to quickly blanket an entire arena in Dendro for very easy Reactions. It’s best to think of her Burst like a reset button, allowing you to easily set up Burn on multiple targets while resetting the timer on any Level 2 Lumidouce Cases.

Then, in dead last, is Shadow-Hunting Spear, Emilie’s Normal Attacks. Simply put, you won’t be using or seeing them very often unless you get her to C6. They do very little damage and force Emilie to remain on the field, something she doesn’t want as an off-field DPS; any time spent with Emilie on the field is time that could be spent with a better Dendro or Pyro DPS, someone who can trigger Burn for her Lumidouce Cases. Unfortunately, to most players, Emilie’s Normal Attacks just aren’t worth the investment

Emilie’s Constellations

Once you’ve pulled a character, any subsequent duplicates of that unit will be converted into Stella Fortuna of that character. Stella Fortunas are used to unlock their associated character’s Constellations, powerful passive bonuses and abilities which can completely change how a unit is played. Emilie is a limited unit so her Constellations are a lot harder to obtain compared to a Standard or 4-star character in Genshin

  1. Light Fragrance Leaching: Increases the DMG dealt by Fragrance Extraction and Cleardew Cologne by 20%. Additionally, when nearby party members trigger the Burning reaction on opponents or deal Dendro DMG to Burning opponents, they will generate an additional Scent. You can trigger this effect once every 2.9s.
  2. Lakelight Top Note: When Fragrance Extraction, Aromatic Explication, or Cleardew Cologne hits opponents, those opponents’ Dendro RES is decreased by 30% for 10s.
  3. Exquisite Essence: Increases the level of Fragrance Extraction by 3.
  4. Lumidouce Hear Note: Aromatic Explication’s duration is increased by 2s. The interval between opponents being selected as the target for Scented Dew is decreased by 0.3s.
  5. Puredew Aroma: Increases the level of Aromatic Explication by 3.
  6. Marcotte Sillage: When using Fragrance Extraction or Aromatic Explication, Emilie will gain Abiding Fragrance for 5s. While this is active, Emilie will generate 1 Secent after she uses Normal or Charged Attacks and her Normal and Charged Attack DMG will be converted into Dendro DMG that cannot be overridden, and the DMG dealt will be increased by 300% of Emilie’s ATK. The Abiding Fragrance effect can be triggered every 12s and will be removed after 4 Scents are created this way or after its duration expires.

While Emilie’s C6 is her most eye-catching Constellation (mainly because it allows you to run her an effective on-field DPS), her C1 and C2 are very strong and worthy of your Primogems if you’re willing to commit to the Burning playstyle. Her C1 directly increases the damage dealt by all aspects of her Elemental Skill, her most vital and easily accessible ability, while also improving her passive Scent generation and ease of use. Meanwhile, her C2 is a free Deepwood on all of her abilities, giving Emilie additional utility and damage capabilities.

What is Emilie’s Best Weapon in Genshin Impact?

Best in Slot: Lumidouce Elegy

Emilie’s best-in-slot weapon in Genshin Impact is the Lumidouce Elegy 5-star Polearm. The Lumidouce Elegy is an elegant new 5-star Polearm from Version 4.8 and it is available on the Limited Weapon Wish while Ambrosial Essence is still ongoing. What makes Lumidouce Elegy so special is that it’s a weapon which only works in one kind of team – a Burning team – but the benefits for meeting that requirement are immense.

At level 80, the Lumidouce Elegy will give the wielder 608 ATK as well as a hefty 33.1% CRIT Rate bonus. Bright Dawn Overture increases the wielder’s ATK by an additional 15% and enhances the Burning Reaction. After the equipping character triggers Burning or deals Dendro DMG to a Burning opponent, the DMG dealt increases by 18% which lasts for 8s and has a max of 2 stacks. Once you reach 2 stacks or the you refresh the 2 stack duration, you also restore 12 Energy.

Lumidouce Elegy is just another way to heighten the power of Burning in Emilie’s hands. For simply playing in a somewhat decent Burning comp, Emilie’s already impressive damage is increased threefold – extra CRIT Rate, ATK, and DMG – and she’ll be able to get her Burst back at a rapid pace, improving her damage output even further. The trigger conditions on Elegy, while incredibly easy, are limiting and effectively useless outside of Burning teams. Play around Burning, though, and Elegy is one of Genshin Impact’s strongest weapons.

Best 4-Star Weapons for Emilie

With Natlan soon approaching, many Travelers will be hoarding their Primogems for the new characters and mechanics coming in 5.0 and beyond. As such, many who manage to pull Emilie may be unable to get the Lumidouce Elegy, which means they’ll have to resort to 4-star Polearms, instead. Fortunately, as an ATK-scaling DPS, Emilie has a wide variety of options to choose from, including a few which work excellently with her playstyle.

The best 4-star weapons for Emilie in Genshin Impact are:

  • Moonpiercer (Sumeru Craftable 4-Star Polearm, EM substat): After triggering a Dendro Reaction, a Leaf of Revival will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 16% ATK for 12s. Only 1 Leaf can spawn this way every 20s. You can trigger this effect even if the character is not on the field.
  • The Catch (Inazuma Fishing Reward 4-Star Polearm, ER substat): Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.
  • Favonius Lance (Gacha 4-Star Polearm, ER substat): Critical Hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s.

The best option here is the Moonpiercer. As a craftable Sumeru weapon, dedicated players will be able to get the Moonpiercer to R5 for free with a bit of luck, drastically increasing its potency. Emilie’s excellent Dendro application with her Lumidouce Cases will make trigger Burn Reactions extremely easy, giving you easy access to the Leaf of Revival and, with it, a healthy ATK boost. For Emilie, Moonpiercer kind of has it all; it’s easy to obtain, has an ability which synergises well with the rest of her kit, and even has a good amount of EM as a bonus.

If you’re low on Polearm Billets, though, The Catch is also a pretty good option. While the bonuses it provides will only apply to Emilie’s Burst and not her Skill, the extra DMG and CRIT Rate are very welcome, especially when you factor in its ER substat for quicker Energy generation. The Favonius Lance is similar, focusing far more on efficient Burst uptime and Energy generation than raw damage.

What is Emilie’s Best Artifact Set in Genshin Impact?

Emilie fills a very unique niche when it comes to the Dendro DPS roster in Genshin Impact. As such, she has two main paths you can go down when it comes to her artifact choice; the first doubles down on her uniqueness while the second is a Dendro staple which allows her to add some additional support and utility to her kit. Those options are:

  • 4pc Unfinished Reverie: Increases ATK by 18%. After leaving combat for 3s, DMG dealt increased by 50%. In combat, if no Burning opponents are nearby for more than 6s, this DMG Bonus will decrease by 10% per second until it reaches 0%. When a Burning opponent exists, it will increase by 10% instead until it reaches 50%. This effect still triggers if the equipping character is off-field.
  • 4pc Deepwood Memories: Increases Dendro DMG by 15%. After Elemental Skills or Bursts hit opponents, the targets’ Dendro RES is decreased by 30% for 8s. You can trigger this effect even if the equipping character is not on the field.

Unfinished Reverie is incredibly underutilized because of how weak Burning is. In Emilie’s hands, though, it becomes another way to improve her damage capabilities even further. The ATK bonus is very nice and will let all of Emilie’s abilities hit much harder, while the DMG increase she gets from being near Burning targets should make it extremely easy to keep up with how her kit functions. Burn is the name of the game with Emilie and Unfinished Reverie adds another juicy incentive to keep your foes Burning.

On the other hand, Deepwood Memories is a very safe Dendro set, especially if you’re running her with other powerful Dendro characters. All of Emilie’s main damage is going to be Dendro DMG and the 30% Dendro RES debuff will be extremely easy to prock on account of her Skill’s rapid rate of fire. The main downside of this set is simply that it puts less focus on Emilie’s skill as an off-field DPS and because you’ll likely be running Pyro on-fielders to reliably trigger Burn, you won’t be benefitting from the RES reduction as much as you may think.

Most Important Stats for Emilie

Despite being a Dendro unit, Emilie doesn’t really care for Elemental Mastery. That’s because her main source of damage – her Lumidouce Cases – scale purely off of ATK and they just disperse a chunk of damage whenever Burn occurs. As such, you’ll want to build Emilie much like a normal ATK-scaling DPS with a focus on ATK, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and a bit of Energy Recharge if you want to get her Burst back more often.

Here are the main stats you should be on the hunt for on Emilie’s artifact pieces:

  • Hourglass (Sands): ATK% / Energy Recharge
  • Goblet: Dendro DMG Bonus / ATK%
  • Circlet: CRIT DMG]

Furthermore, here are the four best substats you should be looking for on Emilie’s artifacts ordered in terms of overall importance:

  1.  ATK%
  2. CRIT Rate
  3. CRIT DMG
  4. Energy Recharge

Emilie’s Best Teams in Genshin Impact

Premium Burning Team

A team composition built around Burning is where Emilie shines as she gets to be an amazing off-field DPS who can quickly, and efficiently, get high-level Lumidouce Cases. When it comes to partners, Emilie works best with Pyro on-fielders compared to Dendro ones. Her incredible Dendro application rate makes it hard for Dendro DPS to feel all that valuable in a Burn comp as they won’t be triggering as many reactions as a Pyro character can.

Fortunately for Emilie, Pyro is one of the best elements in Genshin Impact with some of the game’s strongest DPS and supports belonging to that element. If you want to make a strong premium Burn team built around Emilie, run her with Arlecchino, Xiangling, and Bennett.

  • Emilie (Lumidouce Elegy) | 4pc Unfinished Reverie
  • Arlecchino (Crimson Moon’s Semblance) | 4pc Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy
  • Xiangling (The Catch) | 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate
  • Bennett (Favonius Sword) | 4pc Noblesse Oblige

Honestly, any on-field Pyro DPS works well in this team, whether it be Hu Tao, Lyney, or even Diluc, but Arlecchino is just a cut above the rest. Arlecchino is incredibly powerful on an offensive front but also in terms of utility. With her Pyro-infused Normal Attacks, Arlecchino can deal very high damage while also creating a constant stream of Burning Reactions when paired with Emilie’s Lumidouce Cases, allowing both of them to thrive as DPS units. You can find our guide on how to build Arlecchino here on KeenGamer.

Rounding out the pack are Xiangling and Bennett, two staples of any meta team in Genshin Impact. Xiangling serves a similar role to Emilie as a sub-DPS for Arlecchino, with a particular focus on her powerful Burst which deals good damage and has incredible Pyro application, which is just another boon for Emilie. Meanwhile, Bennett is the team’s main buffer and healer, with his Burst’s ATK increasing being beneficial to all three of the team’s damage dealers. This team is safe, simple, and very effective, as most Pyro-focused teams are.

Premium Burn Team

Premium Burn Team

F2P Burning Team

Of course, premium units like Arlecchino are going to be hard to recommend for a large amount of players who may have missed them. Well, in a stroke of miraculous luck, Emilie’s best F2P is almost identical to her premium one, with the only exception being the main DPS as both Xiangling and Bennett have been given away for free.

If you still want to run Emilie in a Burn team but lack some of the heavier-hitting Pyro DPS, try running her with Xiangling, Bennett and Yanfei.

  • Emilie (Moonpiercer) | 4pc Unfinished Reverie
  • Yanfei (Flowing Purity) | 4pc Crimson Witch of Flame
  • Xiangling (The Catch) | 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate
  • Bennett (Favonius Sword) | 4pc Noblesse Oblige

Despite being a 4-star, Yanfei is far from terrible in the damage department. As a Pyro Catalyst, her Normal Attacks will be able to instantly trigger Burn, meaning that Emilie will never run out of Scents to fuel her Lumidouce Cases. Additionally, Yanfei’s Skill and Burst deal considerable damage for a 4-star, especially when she’s under the effects of 4pc Crimson Witch. While she likely won’t be dealing the same damage as Arlecchino or Hu Tao, Yanfei is a simple and effective main DPS who will work excellently in this comp.

Meanwhile, Xiangling and Bennett will continue doing the same jobs they performed in the premium Burn comp. Xiangling is your second sub-DPS who will be peppering enemies with Guoba fire until she can get her devastating Pyronado to light up the entire battlefield, triggering tons of Burning along the way. Then, whenever you need to heal or get a hefty ATK increase, Bennett’s Burst will be there for you in a pinch.
