Genshin Impact All Primal Obelisk Locations in Version 3.4 (Desert of Hadramaveth)

Genshin Impact’s newest area, the Desert of Hadramaveth, is filled to the brim with secrets to uncover, ruins to venture through and new foes to clash against. One of the few puzzles that return in the new desert area is the Primal Obelisks.

Obelisks are strange statues that you can find dotted around the desert, either above or below ground. They are powered by things known as Sacred Seals and, if you manage to find all the required pieces, they will reward you handsomely for your troubles. But finding each of these small Obelisks around the vast desert can be a difficult thing to do, especially with the constant barrage of sandstorms.

Here’s where to find all Primal Obelisks in Genshin Impact’s Desert of Hadramaveth.

What are Primal Obelisks?

As previously pointed out, Primal Obelisks are stone statues that can be found in a myriad of places across the Desert of Hadramaveth and the Deshret Desert. You will often find them surrounded by other kinds of ruins and desolation (with those in the Desert of Hadramaveth often being close to a Jinn Shrine).

When you approach them, you will have two options: Mark Sacred Seals and Activate. The first option will ping all nearby Sacred Seals in the surrounding area, giving you a precise location of where to find them on your map. The second option is used when you have the appropriate amount of Seals and can activate the Obelisk itself.

Each time you reawaken a Primal Obelisk in Genshin Impact, it will award you a Precious Chest filled with 20 Primogems, plenty of upgrade materials and more. You’ll also net yourself an Achievement if you find all of the Obelisks around the map.

Primal Obelisks can be found all across the Desert of Hadramaveth - Genshin Impact 3.4 Primal Obelisks

Desert of Hadramaveth

Obelisk 1 Location

The first Primal Obelisk in Genshin Impact can be found to the East of the desert. It can be found close to where the Desert of Hadramaveth borders the rest of mainland Sumeru.

The easiest way to reach this Obelisk is to either travel from the Teleport Waypoint near the Seketh Wenut or from the Old Vanarana Statue of the Seven. If you decide to take the former, you can simply glide down from the waypoint by the cave entrance and onto the main path. Following this path will eventually lead you straight to the Obelisk.

A similar story occurs if you want to take the path from the Statue of the Seven. Simply head West on the main path without diverging from it: there will be a few Seelies, chests and enemies you may find yourself distracted by, but stay on the path. Just like with the previous example, it will eventually lead you straight to the Obelisk.

Approach it and mark the surrounding Sacred Seals to continue.

Required Sacred Seals

In order to activate this Primal Obelisk, you will need the following Seals:

  • 1 Labour Seal
  • 1 Ceremony Seal
  • 2 Valley Seals
  • 2 Crocodile Head Seals
Obelisk 1 Seals

Obelisk 1 Seals

Obelisk 2 Location

The second Obelisk is found close to where the first was found. The main difference is that to get to this one, you’ll have to brave the massive sandstorm which covers Mt. Damavand.

Once you’ve prepared yourself for the limited visibility you’ll soon be thrust into, make your way to the Passage of Ghouls Teleport Waypoint. From here, make your way through the canyon and towards the Western part of the Desert. After exiting this canyon, head right past some Eremite and Fatui camps – there’ll be some conveniently placed Four-Leaf Sigils to help you get around – and continue towards the area on the map below.

Follow the main path deeper into the storm. Eventually, nestled into one of the desert’s many ruins, will be the next Primal Obelisk. You can then interact with it to mark all the nearby Sacred Seals.

Required Sacred Seals

To reawaken this Primal Obelisk, you’ll need:

  • 1 Giant Serpent Seal
  • 2 Valley Seals
  • 1 Forest Seal
  • 1 Dune Seal
  • 1 Crocodile Head Seal
Obelisk 2 Seals

Obelisk 2 Seals

Obelisk 3 Location

The third Primal Obelisk is in a very obvious location: the Temples Forsaken. This is a massive temple ruin stretching across a large part of the desert. You can either come here on your own or as part of the Dirge of Bilqis questline (which you will have to embark on to claim a few Obelisks later on).

To get to the Temples Forsaken, head to the Statue of the Seven close to the Tanit Camps. Drop down into the canyon the camps are built into and make your way out of the Western exit. The camps are conveniently placed next to a series of tight caverns and tunnels that will take you straight to the Temple.

Once you make it to the Temple, try and find the Teleport Waypoint to make travelling around easier. You’ll likely enter the area on the lower portion of the map, where sand covers the land and the ruins lay above. There should be some Four-Leaf Sigils close by to give you a leg up and help take you close to the Obelisk, which is patiently waiting right before the massive locked door to the Temple itself.

Waltz on up and activate the Sacred Seal marking mechanic to pinpoint where the surrounding Seals are located. The Sacred Seals for this Obelisk are mostly found around the Temple Forsaken itself, meaning that you, fortunately, won’t have to travel very far at all to nab them all.

Required Sacred Seals

In order to activate the third Primal Obelisk, you will need the following Sacred Seals:

  • 1 Sunrise Seal
  • 1 Valley Seal
  • 2 Raised Arm Seals
  • 1 Crocodile Head Seal
  • 1 Ceremony Seal
Obelisk 3 Seals

Obelisk 3 Seals

Obelisk 4 Location

The fourth Obelisk can be a bit tricky to find on account of not being on the overworld. Instead, this Obelisk can be found underneath the sand and the desert in a series of caverns to the North of the Desert of Hadramaveth. Getting here can be a bit confusing if you don’t know where to go.

First, travel to a Teleport Waypoint close to the massive ancient Ruin Guard, located in the Debris of Panjvahe. Either one will do as the location you need to go to is found between them. Make your way past the Ruin Guard and towards its right arm which is suspended above a large gaping chasm in the sand. This is the spot where you need to jump.

Below is a tangled mess of ruins, stone and what little amount of foliage has managed to survive. You’ll likely find a few chests and puzzles to solve, but once you’re ready to find the Obelisk, head towards the Teleport Waypoint nearby. This is an underground Waypoint and, upon finding it, you’ll be happily surprised to find the Obelisk a mere stone’s throw away.

Walk on over and trigger the Sacred Seal marking to help you manoeuvre through the gorge. Like with the Temple, most of the Seals here are found below ground, making them an easy catch when compared to some of the other Obelisks.

Required Sacred Seals

The fourth of Genshin Impact’s Primal Obelisks needs the following Sacred Seals:

  • 2 Crocodile Head Seals
  • 1 Sunrise Seal
  • 1 Great Serpent Seal
  • 1 Valley Seal
  • 1 Forest Seal
Obelisk 4 Seals

Obelisk 4 Seals

Obelisk 5 Location

To get to the fifth Primal Obelisk, you’ll need to trek through to the North-West of the Desert of Hadramaveth. Specifically, you’ll need to try and reach the Sands of Three Canals area, which is where both the fifth and sixth Obelisks are located.

The easiest way to reach this Obelisk is to actually travel from the previous one. Go to the fourth Primal Obelisk and head Northward. You’ll pass some Eremites and creepy crawlers but you’ll soon find a way out of the gorge via some well-placed Four-Leaf Sigils… and a massive hole in the wall. Wander out past this and you will reemerge on the main path going Westward.

All you need to do now is follow this path. There will be a few bumps in the road and a lot of Eremite camps, but you can pick up some Teleport Waypoints on the way to make the journey worthwhile. Once you reach the Sands of Three Canals and the main path begins to diverge, head down the path leading towards Mt. Damavand.

The fifth Obelisks will be patiently waiting for you atop a collapsed ruin containing a Jinni Shrine. The marked Seals from this Obelisk are a bit all over the place, so be sure to search high and low for any sign of them.

Required Sacred Seals

The next Primal Obelisk in Genshin Impact needs:

  • 1 Great Serpent Seal
  • 1 Forest Seal
  • 2 Thunderstrike Seals
  • 1 Crocodile Head Seal
  • 1 Right to Rule Seal
Obelisk 5 Seals

Obelisk 5 Seals

Obelisk 6 Location

Just a little bit South of the previous Obelisk will be the next one. Like with the second one you braved, this Primal Obelisks requires you to battle the relentless sandstorm swirling around Mt. Damavand. Prepare yourself for it and then you can head off.

You’ll be heading deeper into the Sands of Three Canals area this time. From the last Obelisk, continue treading down the main path as it begins to snake around the pieces of upheaved earth and rock. Visibility will also begin to drop as you get close to the sandstorm so prioritise using your minimap to guide your way.

The main path will begin to fork once more, with one part continuing straight and another heading South: take the latter path inching closer towards Mt. Damavand. Keep on travelling this path for as long as you can. The Primal Obelisk will be waiting near the border where the sandstorm surrounding Mt. Damavand bars your progress.

Once you’ve found the ruin the Obelisk is located on, mark the nearby Sacred Seals. The lack of visibility due to the sandstorm can make finding these Seals a bit tricky, especially when a few are hidden in Eremite camps or in the few surviving bits of plant life. Keep an eye on your mini-map, though, and you should be fine.

Required Sacred Seals

The sixth Primal Obelisk in Genshin Impact asks for:

  • 2 Sheep Head Seals
  • 2 Ceremony Seals
  • 1 Dune Seal
  • 1 Crocodile Head Seal
  • 1 Right to Rule Seal
Obelisk 6 Seals

Obelisk 6 Seals

Obelisk 7 Location

The final two Primal Obelisks are locked from the player until they progress to a certain quest line. The Dirge of Bilqis Quest is a continuation of the Golden Slumber Quest from the Deshret Desert. Traveller and Paimon reunite with Jeht as she joins a new tribe and asks us to join her in finding the Eternal Oasis.

You cannot access the final two Obelisks if you do not have this quest as their locations are blocked by quest progression. If you have already completed Golden Slumber, visit Katheryne in Sumeru to receive the first part of the quest. If you haven’t completed Golden Slumber, you can find more information on where to find it and how to progress through it here.

The seventh Primal Obelisk can be found after you first find the Jinni, Liloupar. You’ll see a small cutscene with her and, after finding a way out of the cave you found her in, you will be ambushed by some Eremites in a canyon close to the Tanit Camps. Once you’ve dealt with them, keep an eye on the right side of the canyon for any Four-leaf Sigils or offshoot paths.

The Primal Obelisk can be found atop a platform of broken stone with a number of crocodiles playing in the water below. There are some Four-Leaf Sigils close by as well as some Eremites that you will have to deal with prior to marking the nearby Seals (which can all be found scattered amongst the various levels of this canyon).

Required Sacred Seals

The second to last set of Seals for the Primal Obelisks are:

  • 1 Danger Seal
  • 1 Raised Arm Seal
  • 1 Bird Head Seal
  • 1 Valley Seal
  • 1 Right to Rule Seal
  • 1 Grand Door Seal
Obelisk 7 Seals

Obelisk 7 Seals

Obelisk 8 Location

Continue the Dirge of Bilqis Quest to find the final Primal Obelisk in Genshin Impact. You’ll venture through several ruins and temples across this quest, opening up a lot of previously explored areas. This includes the area where the final Obelisk is located.

You’ll know you’re at the correct part when you are instructed to head near the Passage of Ghouls (accompanied by a warning about the nearby Wenut). Jeht will lead you down into a closed-off underground area with a locked door. You’ll complete some puzzles involving directing sand to open certain doors and devices. If you only care about the Obelisks, simply follow the golden path that the quest leads you on.

Eventually, after solving a fair few more sand puzzles, you will open a door to a unique space. The roof is lined with metal grating and the last Primal Obelisk will be sat in the middle of the room. Activating it is fairly easy, and the remaining Sacred Seals can all be found in the crawl spaces and tunnels below ground.

Required Sacred Seals

The final Sacred Seals you need for the Desert of Hadramaveth in Genshin Impact are:

  • 1 Precipice Seal
  • 1 Forest Seal
  • 1 Great Serpent Seal
  • 1 Right to Rule Seal
  • 1 Thunderstrike Seal
  • 1 Auricle Seal
Obelisk 8 Seals

Obelisk 8 Seals

And that is where to find every Primal Obelisk in the new Desert Hadramaveth in Genshin Impact Version 3.4.
