The next expansion to the Fontaine region has arrived with Genshin Impact Version 4.2 which, of course, means a new crop of Fontaine Shrine of Depths has been added to the map. Shrine of Depths in Genshin are small mausoleums which contain quite the bounty, awarding adventurous players a boatload of Primogems, upgrade materials and more for finding them. Fontaine previously had 6 Shrines, which has now risen to a total of 8 Shrines thanks to Fontaine’s newest major area, the Erinnyes Forest. While it will take a bit of time to accumulate the Shrine Keys required to open the Shrines, it’s always good to know where to look for these very rewarding and special locations in Genshin Impact.

Here’s where to find both of the new Fontaine Shrine of Depths in the Erinnyes Forest area added in Genshin Impact Version 4.2.

Fontaine Shrine of Depths Keys

To open and claim the rewards from Fontaine’s many Shrine of Depths, you first need a way to open them. This, of course, means that you need to acquire Fontaine Shrine Keys. These function the exact same way that Shrine Keys from other nations do: without a Shrine Key, a Shrine won’t open its doors to you, even if you find it out in the wild. The main differentiator between Keys from each region is their colour palette, with Fontaine Shrine Keys matching the soft blue of the nation’s signature element, Hydro.

Shrine Keys are usually acquired in two main ways: levelling the region’s Statue of the Seven or investing elemental Sigils in that region’s Sakura Tree equivalent. For Fontaine, this is the Fountain of Lucine, a beautiful if depressing (if you know, you know) water feature outside of Fontaine’s infamous Opera House. Here, you can trade in the Hydro Sigils you get from chests and quests around Fontaine for various rewards, including Shrine Keys. You may have to beat or at least reach the first Act of Fontaine’s Archon Quest (which is Chapter IV) before you can begin using the Fountain.

One last important thing to note about Shrine Keys is that, while they are linked to a specific region, they aren’t linked to a specific Shrine. Any Shrine Key can be used for any Shrine, even those that were added before or after the Shrine itself was introduced. For example, you can use the two new Shrine Keys in version 4.2 to open any of the Shrines in Fontaine’s opening areas just as you can use them to open the Erinnyes Forest Shrines.

How to Get More Fontaine Shrine Keys in Genshin Impact 4.2

Now that you know the basics of Shrine Keys, how can you get more in Version 4.2, specifically? With two new Shrines being added to Fontaine, two new Shrine Keys have also been added.

The first new Shrine Key can be acquired by levelling up the Fountain of Lucine. In version 4.1, the maximum level the Fountain could reach was around level 30 but, with the addition of the Erinnyes Forest and Morte regions, there are a bunch more chests and quests which award Hydro Sigils. This will allow you to reach level 38 on the Fountain of Lucine, which is where the first new 4.2 Shrine Key can be acquired.

Alongside the update to the Fountain, Fontaine’s new areas have also added a bunch more Hydroculi to the game. With 216 Hydroculi currently skulking about the lands of Fontaine, you should be able to gather enough to reach level 7 on the Fontaine Statue of the Seven. This will net you 60 Primogems, 15 Hydro Sigils for the Fountain, 3200 Mora and, most importantly, our second new Shrine Key of version 4.2.

All Erinnyes Forest Shrine of Depths Locations

Erinnyes Forest Shrine 1

The first Erinnyes Forest Shrine in Genshin Impact can be found near the Loch Urania area of the Erinnyes Forest. The Shrine itself borders the very edge of the play area on the eastern side of Fontaine, so scour the limits of the play area on the map for a better idea of where you’re going.

While there is a Teleport Waypoint nearby to the Shrine, we’ll be starting at the Erinnyes Forest Statue of the Seven for convenience, which is close to Marcotte Station. From the Statue, head onto the nearby main pathway and start following it north. This path will take you up to, and past, Loch Urania, which is your best guidance point for knowing you’re going the right way.

Once you reach Loch Urania, activate the nearby Teleport Waypoint and then look straight ahead towards the mountains above the Loch. If you squint, you should be able to see the brief blue glow of the Shrine’s doors at the top of a tall hill: the biggest giveaway for the right hill is that there are several Anemo puzzles scattered on the path up to the Shrine.

From there, just hoof it up the mountain and you’ll quickly reach the first of the Fontaine Shrine of Depths in the Erinnyes Forest region. If you have a key, pop that sucker open and claim your Luxurious Chest for a boatload of upgrade materials, Mora and, most importantly, a bunch of Primogems.

Erinnyes Forest Shrine 2

The second Erinnyes Forest Shrine is south of the Weeping Willow of the Lake, which you can find near the middle of the Forest region.

Like with the first Shrine, there’s a Teleport Waypoint close by that we’ll be using as a guide but, to help direct players better, we’ll be starting at the Statue of the Seven once again. Instead of taking the north path like last time, make your way south, instead, and continue following it past the Fountain of Lucine. Keep following that path east until you reach a point where it diverges close to the Weeping Willow of the Lake.

From here, go up to the nearby Teleport Waypoint which is just off the main path: this Waypoint, in particular, overlooks the Weeping Willow from up high, giving you a great vantage point of the entire area. Those sightlines are also useful for spotting the next Shrine of Depths, which is visible directly across from the Waypoint, nestled into the crook of a mountain spire. Like below, waltz on over to it and claim all your goodies with a Shrine Key.

That was where to find both of the new Erinnyes Forest Fontaine Shrine of Depths in Genshin Impact Version 4.2.
