Genshin Impact Albedo Best Build Guide

Today, we will discuss the best builds guide for Albedo, the Kreideprinz, including his best weapons, his best team compositions, and artifacts.

Albedo is a mysterious 5-star character that comes from Mondstadt. While he’s an excellent alchemist and painter, he has a rather dark past that we, Genshin Impact players, may face in the future.

His main role on the team is the Sub-DPS role. Not just that, having him on your team will also bring you a steady presence of Geo element and buff to their Elemental Mastery. Let’s start.

Who Is Albedo from Genshin Impact?

Albedo is a 5-star Geo character, and he’s an excellent alchemist and the Captain of the Investigation Team of Knights of Favonius.

He’s a calm and collected man, and his manner of speech is always polite. Albedo might have a mysterious aura around him, but once you get to know him better, he’s an extremely reliable friend.

The universe, the sable essence of the starry void. Earth, the accumulative memory of time and being. Soil, the origin of alchemy, the basis of all life. Chalk, the substance from which primal life is molded.

Albedo: Contemplation in Chalk

Overall, his calm demeanor and intellect are Albedo’s strong suits. However, since he’s always busy learning and researching alchemy, he doesn’t have a lot of friends.

How to Get Albedo

Since Albedo is a unique 5-star character, he can only appear on the Event Wish Banner. Unfortunately, that also means that he’s unavailable outside of his banners.

Ever since his appearance back in Version 1.2, Albedo has been featured three times:

  • Secretum Secretorum (Albedo’s Banner, first iteration): December 23, 2020 – January 12, 2021.
  • Secretum Secretorum (Albedo’s Banner, the first re-run): November 24, 2021 – December 14, 2021.
  • Secretum Secretorum (Albedo’s Banner, the second re-run): October 14, 2022 – October 31, 2022.

Albedo Level-Up Resources

To build your Albedo to Level 90, you must prepare these Ascension Materials:

  • Prithiva Topaz (Geo)
  • Cecilia
  • Scrolls
  • Basalt Pillar

Prithiva Topaz is the gemstone crucial for Albedo’s ascension. Topaz is the Geo variant of the Gemstone, and you usually find them after you defeat Geo-based Bosses, such as the Geo Hypostasis, the Golden Wolflord, and one of the Weekly Bosses, Azhdaha. In total, Albedo will need 1 Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones.

For Albedo’s next material, we have Cecilia. This flower is part of Mondstadt’s specialty, and you can find them in the Starsnatch Cliff area. Moreover, an NPC in Mondstadt City, Flora, also sells this flower, and you can buy 5 Cecilia every 3 days from her. To level up your Albedo to 90, you’ll need a minimum of 168 Cecilias. The Teyvat Interactive Map can help you locate Cecilia faster.

Next up, we have the Scrolls, which are the drops you can get from Samachurls, a shaman variant of the Hilichurls. These enemies can be found in a Hilichurl camp or in groups with other variants in the wilderness. Overall, Albedo needs 18 Divining Scrolls, 30 Sealed Scrolls, and 36 Forbidden Curse Scrolls.

Finally, the last material we need is the Basalt Pillar. This is a World Boss material dropped by Geo Hypostasis in Liyue. You can find this boss in the Guyun Stone Forest area, west of Liyue mainland. This World Boss has some pesky pillar mechanism, so bringing a Bow DPS character such as Ganyu is recommended. You will need 46 Basalt Pillar for Albedo to raise him to Level 90.

Also, you’ll need to prepare 420 Thousand Mora and 416 Hero’s Wit EXP Books to fully ascend your Albedo.

Albedo’s Abilities Overview

As a Geo Sword character, Albedo utilizes his abilities to topple down his enemies. His role for the team is a Sub-DPS, where he can deal some damage, but also provides a way for the Main DPS to shine.

His Normal Attack is called Favonius Bladework – Weiss. Albedo can unleash up to 5 rapid strikes using this attack. His Charged Attack will allow him to strike down enemies within a small range from him.

Normal Attack

Albedo’s Elemental Skill is Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma. This Skill enables Albedo to deal AoE Geo DMG when using it. There are two ways of using Solar Isotoma: Press and Hold

The main difference between the two is that Hold allows you to aim where you want to activate the Elemental Skill, while Press will simply summon the Skill immediately.

Lastly, we have Albedo’s Elemental Burst, Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide. The Burst summons Geo crystals and deals damage to the enemies in front of Albedo.

When paired with his Elemental Skill, Tectonic Tide will have follow-up attacks called Fatal Blossoms, which will hit any enemies up to 7 enemies, making Albedo a solid Sub-DPS choice for the team.

Albedo’s Passives

As for Albedo’s Passive abilities, he has the following:

  • Calcite Might allow Albedo’s Elemental Skill, Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma‘s Transient Blossoms to deal 25% more DMG to enemies whose HP is below 50%.
  • Homuncular Nature grants an Elemental Mastery bonus to nearby party members by 125 for 10s after Albedo uses his Elemental Burst.
  • Flash of Genius (Albedo) makes it so that when you assign Albedo in crafting Weapon Ascension Materials, he has a 10% chance to receive double the product.

Talent Priority

After you get to know Albedo’s arsenal of skills, it’s time to look at the priority you should go for regarding his Talents:

  1. Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma: Albedo’s main source of presence comes from his Elemental Skill. He can create a stable Geo presence on-field for 30 seconds, so, it’s best to give this priority before the other two talents.
  2. Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide: Albedo’s Elemental Burst gives him a decent burst of damage, however, it does not provide anything substantial besides the Elemental Mastery bonus to his teammates.
  3. Favonius Bladework – Weiss: Albedo is not dependent on his Normal Attack, since he can deal damage through his Elemental Skill and Burst.

Albedo’s Ascension Materials are Ballad Series (Teaching of Ballad, Guide to Ballad, and Philosophies of Ballad), Scrolls, and Tusk of Monoceros Caeli (Childe/Enter the Golden House Weekly Boss material).

Best Weapons

Now that you know about Albedo’s kits, it’s time to talk about his builds. As a Sub-DPS Sword user, Albedo has several options available to him.

The Ideal Choice

The best weapon choice for Albedo is the Cinnabar Spindle sword.

Albedo with Cinnabar Spindle

Albedo with Cinnabar Spindle.

Cinnabar Spindle is a 4-star sword that you can get from Version 2.3’s Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event. This weapon increases DEF by 69.0% and has 454 ATK at Level 90. The weapon has a unique skill named Spotless Heart, which increases the user’s Elemental Skill by 40% of their DEF stat.

For Albedo, this weapon is a perfect fit to amplify his Elemental Skill’s Transient Blossoms DMG, since it also scales off Albedo’s DEF. Moreover, Cinnabar Spindle allows Albedo to perform his role as a Sub-DPS on the team more easily.

Substitute Options

What if you don’t have Cinnabar Spindle? Don’t worry! Albedo can use substitute weapons for his build in Genshin Impact.

Since Albedo is a Sub-DPS, he can equip most DPS-oriented weapons for his build. These options are 4-star and 3-star weapons, so while their potency is lower than that of a 5-star, they are still great for Albedo.

The weapons in question are the Festering Desire and Harbinger of Dawn.

Albedo with Festering Desire

Albedo with Festering Desire.

Festering Desire is a sword you get from The Chalk Prince and the Dragon event back in Version 1.2. It provides Energy Recharge as its substat, as well as the unique skill Undying Admiration. The sword’s skill increases Elemental Skill DMG and CRIT Rate by 16% and 6% respectively. This weapon is a suitable replacement for your Albedo build if you missed out on the Cinnabar Spindle.

Another pick for Albedo is the Harbinger of Dawn. It’s a 3-star weapon, yes, but the nice CRIT DMG substat as well as its skill, Vigorous, provides Albedo with the much-needed damage for his Elemental Skill, as long as you can keep his health above 90%.

Best Artifact For Albedo

Albedo is quite flexible when it comes to artifact set choices. However, there’s a set that can compliments him well: Husk of Opulent Dreams.

This artifact set gives numerous bonuses to Geo characters, and Albedo, in particular, benefits from its 4-piece bonus greatly.

Husk of Opulent Dreams’ 2-piece bonus gives a 30% DEF increase. This boost means that Albedo’s Elemental Skill is even more amplified, allowing him to deal more damage to his enemies.

For the 4-piece bonus, Husk of Opulent Dreams grants the Curiosity effect to Albedo. When he’s on-field, he can gain a stack after hitting an enemy with Geo. When Albedo is off-field, he can gain a Curiosity stack once per 3 seconds. Curiosity can stack up to 4 times, each providing 6% DEF and a 6% Geo DMG Bonus. This means that Albedo’s Elemental Skill and Burst can deal much more damage, depending on the stacks he has.

Overall, the Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact set gives the best payout to your Albedo build. However, if you’re looking for alternative sets for him, then go for 2-piece Archaic Petra and 2-piece Noblesse Oblige, which increase Albedo’s Geo DMG and Elemental Burst DMG by 15% and 20% respectively.

Desirable Stats

To make Albedo a menace to his enemies as a Sub-DPS, here are the stats you must look out for when creating a build for Albedo:

  • DEF%
  • Geo DMG
  • CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG

DEF stat is important for Albedo, as his Elemental Skill will deal more damage if he has more DEF, through its Transient Blossoms effect. Try to aim for DEF% on your Goblet or Sands artifact.

The next stat that’s also important to Albedo is Geo DMG. If the DEF stat is to amplify his Elemental Skill, then Geo DMG is to increase every Geo attack that Albedo has, including his Burst.

Lastly, you should look out for CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. These two stats are wonderful to have, and Albedo is no exception. The higher the numbers on these stats are, then the more damage output that Albedo can dish out.

Best Albedo Team Compositions

These team compositions will have Albedo as the Sub-DPS for the team. We will provide several team options, and one of them will be a Budget Team, which is a F2P-friendly team (of course, Albedo excluded).

Mono-Geo Team

This team consists of Albedo, Itto, Gorou, and Zhongli.

Zhongli will act as the initiator and the Shielder for the team. By using his Elemental Skill, Dominus Lapidis, Zhongli can protect your team, as well as provide a stable Geo presence for 20 seconds.

Next up, we have Gorou. He’s acting as our buffer and Support. Both his Elemental Skill and Burst will support and provide the team with numerous buffs, especially the Inuzuka All-Round Defense, which provides a DEF bonus and Geo DMG bonus.

Then, we have Albedo. He’s here to provide decent damage through his Elemental Skill and provide a mini-support using his Elemental Burst.

Lastly, Itto is here as the star and main DPS of the team. By utilizing all of the other Geo characters’ buffs and support, Itto can truly shine mowing down his enemies with his Burst, Royal Descent: Behold, Itto the Evil!

Mono-Geo Team

Vapo-Mix Team

This team consists of Albedo, Hu Tao, Xinqiu, and Zhongli.

Once again, Zhongli will act as a Shielder for the team. However, it’s best to erect his shield outside of the area of combat to prevent a disruption in the Vaporize reaction.

Albedo is here to give a decent amount of damage. Not to mention, his Elemental Mastery buff is a nice addition for Xinqiu and Hu Tao later on.

Xinqiu acts as the Hydro applier and another Sub-DPS, giving way for Hu Tao to shine. Both his Elemental Skill, Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen, and his Elemental Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter, allow a super-strong Hydro presence on-field.

Finally, we have Hu Tao. She’s the star and the main DPS of this team. Utilizing the Geo Resonance from Zhongli and Albedo, she can dish out 15% more damage to her enemies. Not to mention, with Xinqiu’s Hydro presence, she can initiate Vaporize reaction far easier.

Vapo-Mix Team

Vapo-Mix Team.

Budget Team

This team consists of Albedo, Bennett, Xiangling, and Xinqiu.

This team is relatively easier to gather than the previous two teams, since this one (excluding Albedo), involves three 4-star characters.

Bennett is one of the best Support in Genshin Impact as of now. With his Fantastic Voyage, he can heal and increase other characters’ ATK when they are inside his Burst range.

Xinqiu’s role on this team is pretty much the same as the previous team, being a sub-DPS as well as the Hydro applier for the team.

Then, we have Albedo. His role on the team is to be the Geo Sub-DPS. By utilizing his Elemental Skill, there are tons of possibilities thanks to the other three characters that can synergize extremely well.

Finally, Xiangling is the Pyro Sub-DPS of the team. She’s one of the strongest and most flexible Sub-DPS characters in the game, so having her pair up with Xinqiu and Bennett, as well as Albedo, is more than enough to make up for the lack of the main DPS.

And those are the ingredients of how to build your Albedo as glorious as possible in Genshin Impact.
