Version 3.6 of Genshin Impact has introduced another regional expansion to Sumeru’s vast desert. The Girdle of the Sands, which is split up into the Gavireh Lajavard and the Realm of Farakhkert, can be found to the North-West of the Desert of Hadramaveth. Its sandy depths are filled with ruins to explore, secrets about the past of Teyvat to uncover, chests to loot and Primogems to earn. Of course, a new area also means the addition of some new Shrines of Depth.
Shrines of Depths are unique structures that can be found across the world of Genshin Impact. Each is a small mausoleum, locked by an elemental door which requires a special key unique to each region. If you manage to find these Shrine Keys and unlock the Shrines, you’ll be awarded plenty of great rewards. These always include an Exquisite Chest holding 40 Primogems, high rarity Talent Books, tons of Mora and more.

Shrine Keys in Version 3.6
Before you can go hunting for the new Shrine of Depths, you’ll first need to find a Shrine Key to open it. Without a key, a Shrine will not open and reveal its bounty, so finding as many as possible is of the highest importance. Each of Teyvat’s regions – Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma and Sumeru, as of the moment – has a different colour Shrines of Depths Key which unlocks the Shrines in the associated region.
The Girdle of the Sands (also known as the Realm of Farakhkert) is located in Sumeru, the land of the Dendro Archon. As such, the Shrine you will find in that area belongs to the Sumeru classification of Shrine and Shrine Keys. You’ll need to be on the lookout for green Shrine Keys, the colour of which matches the Dendro Element. Any Key will fit any Sumeru Shrine, so don’t worry about specifics.
If you’ve been good at collecting all available Keys in previous versions, you may be wondering where to find this final Shrine Key. The answer lies in the Statue of the Seven: with Version 3.6, the Sumeru Statue can rise to its maximum level, with the correct amount of Dendroculi, and the ninth level will award the final Shrine Key as one of the many rewards.
With your Shrine Key in hand, make your way over to the Realm of Farakhert to find your prize.
How to Get Keys
Shrine of Depths Location
Head on over to the new area of Sumeru via the Desert of Hadramaveth. There are a few ways to get to the Shrine, but the following method is the most straightforward.
Go deeper into the first main area of the Girdle of the Sands (which is called Gavireh Lajavard) until you find the Statue of the Seven overlooking a strange swirling mass of grey crystals. Unlocking the Statue will reveal the map, which will in turn reveal the location of the Iniquitous Baptist World Boss. You’ll want to make your way over to where this boss is lurking underground: you can easily get there by heading to the Teleport Waypoint marked below, before heading straight forward into the nearby cave.
Cave Location
Continue through this cave until you reach the Baptist’s arena. You can choose to fight it, or you ignore it completely. What you’re looking for is a path directly behind where the arena, one that leads even deeper into the cavern. The path will be illuminated by a green Khvarena Mayfly, a small green creature whose power can destroy the grey crystals around the surrounding desert. Follow that Mayfly until you reach a dead end, one that the power of Khvarena will reveal for you.
The next room is a spacious one with a creepy-looking bone structure in the middle. You’ll want to continue straight ahead, into yet another cave. When you enter there will be a path below and a set of stairs and slopes leading upwards. You’ll want to take the latter and begin your ascent back towards the surface. After a short hike, you’ll find yourself in the other new area, the Realm of Farakhkert, being welcomed by a Teleport Waypoint.
From the Waypoint, simply walk forward and turn around. The Shrine is sitting peacefully atop the nearby cliffs.
