With the return of the Yo-Kai Watch event, Eorzea’s fate grinding continues once again. Every so often, this crossover makes it’s way through the lands Final Fantasy XIV and brings players together to grind for new weapons, minions, and mounts. Sadly, the Sage, Reaper, and Blue Mage weapons aren’t here for the event this go round, but maybe next time the event comes around they will be. In total, there’s 17 unique Yo-kai Watch minions and weapons, and 3 different mounts to get based on this strange franchise. This guide aims to help you get all of these items, so the grind is as painless as possible.

Starting Off
To start the event, you need to be at least level 15 and have completed the main story quest “The Gridanian/Liminsan/Ul’dahn Envoy” depending on the city state you started, and have the Gold Saucer unlocked. If you don’t have it unlocked, you’ll want to grab the quest “It Could Happen To You” from the Well-heeled Youth.
To begin your grind, you’ll want to be in the Ul’dah plaza, and speak to the poor-heeled youth and pick up the quest “A Complete Game Changer”. After finishing the quest, you’ll be rewarded with a Yo-kai watch and a medallion. You’ll want to exchange the medal for a minion, though it will affect which weapon you’ll be working toward and which fates you’ll need to grind out. Keep in mind that weapons can’t be bought with the these generic medals, only minions can be bought with them. You’ll need to have these minions out while grinding fates for Legendary Yo-kai Medals to drop.
Each minion after the first one will cost three medals, which means to get all of them, you’ll need 49 medals total. Like the minions, the weapons will increase after the first one. The first weapon will cost 5 Legendary Medals with the others increasing to 10 medals each. With 17 weapons, that’s 165 legendary medals you’ll need to grind. Of course, if this isn’t your first time doing the event, you won’t have to redo getting the minions and weapons you already have. Moreover, if you have medals from last time, they’ll count towards your end goal!
This event currently have three mounts that you can acquire from the achievement list. After you obtain 13 Yo-kai minions, you’ll able to get the first mount, Whisper-go. The next mount that can obtained is the Whisper A-go-go. It’s very similar to the first mount, however, it has Jibanyan on the side of it. With this one, you need to get 13 of the 17 weapons from the event. Finally, once you have all 17 weapons, you’ll get the Jibanyan Couch.
Associated Weapons and Fate Zones
When you choose a minion, you’re also choosing a weapon you’re working towards. Every minion has designated locations they need to be in to drop their respective legendary medals. So if you’re not grinding out all the weapons to get the Jibanyan Couch or for glamour, be sure to choose the one associated with that weapon. For example, you won’t be able to trade in 10 Legendary Enma Medals for the Whisker of the Brave Cat, you’ll only be able to get the Gunblade of the Yo-kai King. Additionally, once you have all the minions, you do not need the Yo-kai Watch equipped anymore because you won’t need the basic medals anymore.

Making the Grind Quick
One of the fastest ways to grind fates is to spam them with the Blue Mage abilities. You’ll have all of your chosen abilities unlocked unlike any other class. A lot of people choose to utilize this class for this event due to the sheer amount of AOE and primal spells. They can easily destroy fates with just using the two spells The Ram’s Voice (#33) and Ultravibration (#92). When you use The Ram’s Voice, it freezes the enemies around you in place making them vulnerable to certain spells. Thus, when you use Ultravibration, it’s lethal damage to the frozen mobs. When those two spells are on cool down, you’re able to use your OGCD primal spells to knock out any remaining mobs. I recommend using Feather Rain (#44), Shock Strike (#47), Glass Dance (#48), J-Kick (#80), Phantom Flurry (#103), Nightbloom (#104), and Suparnakha (#78).
If you’re able to join a Blue Mage group or party finder, I highly recommend doing so. This way you’re able to bounce fate to fate taking turns using the two spells mentioned without worrying about the cooldown timers. However, if you come across a boss fate things are a big different. You’ll be unable to kill the boss with Ram’s Voice and Ultrabibration. Instead, you’ll need to use other damage spells. These will mostly consist of Tingle (#82), Whistle (#64), Moon Flute, (#39), Triple Trident (#81), Bristle (#12), and Mantra Magic (#100).
Using these should help you quickly take down fates and grind medals quickly. With luck, you’ll have the minions, weapons, and mounts in no time!
